Good evening everyone. I am starting mounjaro and just thought it would be a boost to see people’s before and after pics for those who don’t mind please?
I'm quite nervous about it- for those who don’t mind sharing please can you say how much of a loss and over what time?
thank you

You would be better joining one of the Facebook groups. The majority of people on here choose anonymity.

NoTouch · 13/03/2025 22:12

You first? Before and after pics are not really a MN thing.

Plenty on Facebook Mounjaro groups if you want to see results.

TheChosenTwo · 13/03/2025 22:12

Agree with @richardosmanstrousers - Facebook groups would be better if you just want photos.
there are loads of chats on here but very few people share photos.

Yeah I’m here for the anonymity, no way will I be posting pictures.

There are some people who do, you can check the long running monthly threads and see the picture gallery at the top of each one.

I’m not at the end of my weight loss yet, but I will tell you my stats. I started at the beginning of July 24 at 22 stone. I now weight 14st 7 ish and still losing, aiming for 10st ish eventually.

What are you nervous about, that will be helped by seeing other people’s before and after pics?

Burnserns · 13/03/2025 22:15

Or Reddit. Loads of people post photos on the mounjaro and mounjaro/uk subreddits

That’s amazing I bet you feel fab. Did you have any side effects?
I think because it’s an injection, expensive and I’ve tried so many diets etc before and nothing works for me. I thought seeing the actual results is Abit more motivating and may be easier to push past my doubts of starting it.

I don't mind sharing mine, they're anonymised enough that anyone who recognises me knows me well enough to keep it to themselves.

I've lost about 3 and a half stone between these pictures. I took the Jan 2024 then almost immediately stopped the diet. Went on MJ in Sept 2024, and have lost 54lbs as of this morning.

did you have any side effects? I seem to be able to diet and get to the 14 stone point then can’t loose anymore

Images will apparently post at some point but under review. No side effects at all, I’ve gone a bit slower than normal with my dose, so did 4 weeks on 2.5mg, then 20 weeks on 5mg, currently on 7.5mg. It kept working so there was no need to move up, I’ve increased since the efficacy reduced and I noticed weight loss slowing and hunger returning.

its really important to remember that Mounjaro is great, it really helps but it doesn’t actually burn the fat for you, you still need to do that by eating less calories (but still enough to not end up malnourished), by making good choices and having lean protein, good fats, fruit and veg and by doing exercise. You’ll have weeks where you lose, weeks where you stay the same and weeks where you gain, just like on any other diet. The Mounjaro makes it easier to stick to the diet long term though. I’m not starving hungry all the time, I don’t have the same cravings for food, it doesn’t feel like a battle to constantly deny myself.

SilenceInside · 13/03/2025 22:27

Thank you, I feel so much better in so many ways.

Yes I’ve had side effects. Nothing unmanageable and nothing long term or ongoing bar feeling cold all the time. That doesn’t bother me, I prefer it to being hot and bothered. I just layer up and have lots of heating devices! I’ve had a couple of instances of D&V in the first 8 weeks or so. Nothing too awful and nothing that carried on for more than a couple of days. I haven’t had anything like that for months now. Oh, I had some hair shedding which is a side effect of weight loss rather than the medication, nothing that was noticeable to other people, and it’s stopped now. Loads of regrowth coming through.

Mounjaro has been shown in the clinical trials to be effective, for the large majority. Chances are it will work for you. The injection is genuinely nothing to be scared of, it is painless to the point I don’t feel it at all. The pen looks nothing like a traditional syringe, which helps, and having done it 35 times now it’s not something that I even really think about.

Thank you! So you don’t have to move the dose up after a month it’s just if you feel the weight has slowed down?

Is it more like a click pen if that makes sense 🤣

You do not have to move up the dose, you can go at your own pace and if it's working just get a new pen with the same dosage as the last one.

I did forget cold as a side effect. I am non-stop cold but not sure how much of that is the MJ and how much is the loss of padding. I have been obese or morbidly obese since I was 11 years old. I'm currently just in the healthy BMI range, so this is the smallest amount of natural insulation my body has ever had. Which does mean I leave the house looking like the Michelin man with 23 layers of clothing, and in the house I have a heated blanket and Oodie.

Haha this sounds like me. I’m always cold anyway so I’ll be freezing by the sounds of it!
im just so fed up of feeling fat and frumpy. I feel ugly and embarrassed. I’ve had 3 children so I know my body will never be perfect but I’m hoping this will really kickstart some serious weight loss. I was 17st and for down to 13.12. But it just crept back on and I can’t keep below 14

@SquigglesandgigglesIt is like a pen, it twists out and then pushes back in. The main thing is that the needle that’s attached is tiny. It’s only 4mm long and it’s very very fine. It just doesn’t look like the kind of thing you’d see being used for a vaccination or a blood test. Because it’s so short and fine, you usually don’t feel a thing. Now I’m so accustomed to doing the injection I am very blasé about it!

You don't have to move up. I was on 2.5 mg for three months, and have been on 5 mg for two months so far. I have lost 35 lbs, which is not fast, but OK by me. I have about the same again to lose, and might go up a dose again, but I will see how this month goes. I don't see the need to use more medication than is necessary to stop feeling hungry all the time.

If you’re worried about injection find a pharmacy that will do it I order mine through local one & they keep the meds there & I go in weekly to weigh & they inject. They don’t charge for this just the cost of the medication

TheGreyBee · 15/03/2025 06:45

My journey is similar to yours. After 4 weeks on the starter dose 2.5mg I stuck to the 5mg doses until I reached 17 weeks. I have just taken
for the first time my ‘bonus dose’ (wish I’d known I could do this earlier) and have my new pen with 7.5mg doses to start next week. Same reason as you, my weight was staying the same over a few weeks, or losing very slowly. However, already I am happy with results and almost in a normal BMI range. If I have horrible side effects on 7.5mg I’ll go back to 5mg on my next order.

My only side effect is eczema that makes my back itchy. Well, and perhaps hair thinning that apparently is because of weight loss, not MJ.

I have been on 2.5mg for 4 months now. It’s not as effective as it was in the beginning, thankfully as I could barely eat, but I do not binge and can maintain a healthy diet in that low dose so have no plans to move up.
