To go up a dose or not.

I don't get support/advice with my pens I just buy and go. I've been on it since end Sept and lost 4st. Currently on 7.5mg and have been on this for 2 month but I feel it's time to go up.

How do you decided to go up a dose? Or for those who get support, what is the advice you are given in order to make that decision?

I still have a good 2/3 stone to loose.

I was on 7.5mg for two months and then changed this week up to 10mg. I increased it as I felt largely that the dose wasn’t working for me any longer but the new, increased dose is making me feel really unwell and I’m wanting to reduce it back down. I don’t really get any support other than the online repeat prescription form I complete each month but advice is sparse unfortunately.

I had similar with 5mg to 7.5mg. It knocked me off my feet when I went up and now it's only really suppressing for about 3-4 days.

It’s food noise for me. As soon as I find myself pacing the house trying not to eat whatever is screaming in my head, I go up! Only made it to 10mg in 38 weeks so thankfully only happened twice!

I’m due to take my second 10mg dose today and the suppression is very low but has been most of the week. I’m loathe to repeat the dose if it causes the same symptoms so I’m wondering whether to go back down to 7.5? Or do I continue with the higher dose and hope that the symptoms settle. I’ve just eaten LOTS of mini eggs and feel so cross with myself and I know that when I first started MJ, I had months where I didn’t eat chocolate at all. Yet here I am on the higher dose and readily eating food for no healthy purpose.

I plan to stay on lowest dose possible for as long as possible as I will be on this medication for probably at least 18 months - 2 years for weightloss alone. Also saves money and reduces risk of further side effects.

I will consider going up if the compulsive food noise returns and/or I can no longer keep within my weekly calorie deficit for a few weeks in row.

Now at 8 months in, I am not logging calories anymore as I am still losing weight consistently, now 1-2lb a week. If that appeared to be starting to plateau (4 weeks at same weight) I would start logging calories again to see if I was still in deficit and if I could fix it first without increasing strength. If I couldn't get back on track I would then think about going up a dose.
