Have I gone up too quickly?

I’ve gone up every 4/5 weeks and am currently on 7.5. Few side effects and good weight loss.

10mg pen is ready to start but I’m a bit worried as I’ve got really good suppression on 7.5 and have been quite tired this week too. Could be the jab, could be many other things though.

Should I panic order another 7.5? Or just try the 10 and if it’s too much then move back down to 7.5?

Don’t over think it. You’re supposed to go up every 4 weeks (despite most of MN seemingly staying on 2.5 for months) so you’re fine. Take your 10 as planned.

To be honest, if you haven’t had any side effects and this week is the first time you’ve felt tired (which may not even be MJ related you say), you’re very lucky.

Time4changeagain · 11/03/2025 07:51

If suppression and weight loss is good it’s obviously working well for you. No need to move up, I’d just count clicks and take a 7.5 dose from your 10 pen.

RobinEllacotStrike · 11/03/2025 07:59

You aren't "supposed" to go up every 4 weeks. That would max people out after 5 months.

If 7.5 is working for you it's ok to stay there. I did 3 x5ml ones & I'm on my 3rd 7.5. I've lost 26kilos so far. But I have 20 more kilos to lose so I'm not rushing up when current doses are working.

WeAllHaveWings · 11/03/2025 08:05

Makes complete sense to stay on a dose if it is working for you.

There were some guidelines initially based on the data from the clinical trials around stopping only at 5mg,10mg and 15mg doses, but in practice this is no longer the case and most qualified, patient led providers will agree to stay on a dose. It is not a MN only practice.

They won't agree (or rather can't agree, many would if they could) with click counting but it is low risk. The only risk being if you miscalculate or don't do it sensibly (such as try to take 2.5mg from a 15mg pen)

Going up every month wouldn't "max people out" it would get them to the optimum therapeutic dose based on previous studies which they could then remain on. If it is working well at lower doses then it's a personal choice not to go up but it's not the recommended approach.

If you can afford another pen, I would order another 7.5 .
I did 5 weeks at 2.5, then 10 weeks at 5.
I'm now on my 4th 7.5 pen as it works and I don't want any side effects so staying on a strength until it stops working or gets less effective..
If 7.5 is working I would stick to it, then 10 can stay in the fridge till a later date..

KitsyWitsy · 11/03/2025 08:36

No need to move up if it’s working. I’m on it 24 weeks now and on 7.5 still as it’s working perfectly for me. If it wasn’t, I’d have no qualms about moving up at all but it seems pointless.

TheChosenTwo · 11/03/2025 16:59

7.5 is the only dose I repeated and as soon as id clicked to order it my hunger returned with a vengeance 😆
it was a tricky month but I continued losing with a lot of willpower.
glad I’ve now moved up to 10 though. 7.5 had worked well for me, was hungry enough for meals but no inbetween food noise. That’s all I’m really looking for. The need to eat and enjoy and look forward to eating but be satisfied by those meals and not looking for things inbetween.
If your suppression has been really strong you’re possibly feeling tired because you haven’t provided your body with enough energy via calories.
You do really need to not have such strong suppression that you’re struggling to eat.

This is my thinking. If it's working then keep going with it.

Week 8 on Mounjaro. And just 2lb off a 2 stone loss! I am sooo happy it's literally changing my life! Still unsure if to go up to 5mg. I've been so lucky on the 2.5 no side effects and weekly losses, I'm nervous to go up but then I am getting food noise back! What's everyone else doing at this stage of the plan?

rockingbird · 11/03/2025 20:58

I'm my experience going up is the way forward, every time I've stayed on the same dose for the second month it's been less suppression.. worst case if it's too much you can alternate clicks and go back down.

On week 33, back at the start, I was worried about the side effects of increasing to 5mg after 5 weeks (4 + bonus dose) on the first 2.5mg pen so thought I do 3.75mg (45 clicks of 5mg pen) as a mid way dose.

I have stuck on 3.75mg for 28 weeks because it worked and is still working for me.

shrinkingthiswinter · 11/03/2025 21:59

My doctor-led prescription service is keen to keep you on as low a dose as possible - as for any other medication.

I did about 9 weeks on 2.5, 3 on 3.75, now on 5. Have lost 16.5 kg. Moved up each time because felt a bit too hungry, but Dr a bit reluctant as I’m losing well and a lot of appetite suppression obviously isn’t helpful for addressing long term issues.

What do you mean by 'max people out'? It doesn't stop working once you reach 15mg?

But what if it does? Nowhere to go then, is there? I am already seeing anecdotal evidence of people having to take 15mg more frequently than once a week because it isn't as effective. Whether that's all in their minds or not, I don't know. I do know that it is pointless moving up if you don't need to.

HeavyHeidi · 12/03/2025 12:32

I'm still at 2.5 and will only increase if I feel it is not as effective. Otherwise why inject more if the smaller dose works?
