I started at 19.2 and a size 20-22. 3 weeks in and have lost 11lbs. Just wondering how much I'm gonna have to loose to drop a dress size. I know the bigger you are the more lbs there is between sizes. Any body similar?

I can't remember the exact numbers but it was months and well over 3st before I moved from 22 to size 20 jeans again. But 20 to 18 was much quicker, probably less than 2st.

A lot will depend on your body shape too. My top half is still at least a 22 due to B shaped belly.

Hi,

I started at 19.3lb and have lost exactly 2 stone now. Nearly down a size in jeans but I’m almost 6ft so have to lose a lot to drop sizes.

Ladymuck2022 · 09/03/2025 20:24

I started at 19stone 10lbs. Size 20/22 size XL

I think it took a while to see dress changes.

Today I’m 16stone 2lb size 16 and large.

Since being really focused since new year I think I’ve seen four changes away from the scales on just a loss of 9lbs - Being able to fold one knee over the next, leggings feeling rinkly, being able to put hands on hips.

5ft - not sure what dress type eg apple, pear.

Yes, I started at 18.11 - size 22 top, 22/24 bottom, now 15.10 - 18/20 top, 20 bottom so I've only lost 1.5 sizes. I'm 5'5.5" or 166cm.
I use the George size chart - the smaller sizes there's only 2 inches between each size but size 16+ there's 3 inches between a lot of the measurements, annoyingly. Eg 16>18 there's 3 inches between waist&hips, 18>20 there's 3 inches between bust, waist&hips.

How tall are you?

I'm a comfortable size 20 and am 16st 3lbs.

I'm only a touch over 5 foot though

I started at a lower weight than your starting weight (16 st 9 lbs) but, at 5'3, I was a size 20-22. I'm now 3 st down and still wearing my size 20s, although I now fit comfortably into 18 as well. I think you're right that the bigger you are, the more 'space' there is in between sizes.

From my only other successful weight loss (5 st on Slimming World over a decade ago), I should be due to drop into the 16s in about a stone and the 14s in another one. After that, your guess is as good as mine as I've never gone lower!

I do wonder if age changes it too and I can expect a different trajectory this time? I'm certainly not as toned as I was in my early 30s!

I bought a few smaller bits cheaply from a charity shop to test my sizing. I've lost about 3 stone and dropped from 18 to 12-14 depending on make

MJalltheway · 10/03/2025 07:11

I started at 101kg which is about 15.5 stone I think, in a size 18. Lost 7 kg so far and still in an 18. I think I'll probably need another stone to go before I move down a size.

It fascinates me how vastly different our clothes sizes are but weight is similar.
I started at 19.2 and was wearing a size 26/28 (depending on where I shopped)
I dropped to a size 24 at 16.7 (or thereabouts)
I’m now a 22/24 (although I can fit into a size 20 if it’s seasalt clothing) and I weighed in this morning at 15st 11.

I carry mine all in my boobs and stomach and I’m 5ft 2.5

Last time I did slimming world, I was that weight starting. I lost 4.5 stone and went from a size 22 to an 18. I'm 5'10 and pear shaped.
