i started Ozempic / Wegovy in May 2023. Had slow but steady weight loss. Eventually consultant switched me to Munjaro and continued at a slow and steady pace. Have lost almost 4.5 stone and BMI has reduced from 37 to 27. I still have 1.5 stone to lose to reach a healthy BMI.

I now feel it has stopped working. I have no appetite suppression whatsoever and the food chatter is back.

I’m on 15mg so no option to increase dose.

Any suggestion as to how I get the meds to work again? I’m tempted to switch back to Wegovy to see whether the different formula kick starts the effect.

I guess over the last almost two years you must have made lots of really good food habit changes - can you rely on your habits to get you through?

The other thing is that as you get smaller, you need less food to stay in a calorie deficit so if you want to keep losing at BMI 27 you need to eat less food than to lose at BMI 37. I'd track calories for a week and then try reducing your portion sizes of carbs and see if that gets the scales moving again.

The other option is to taper down off MJ for a couple of months and then up again and see if that helps? I recently had to take two months off for other health reasons and start again - the food noise came back, but I tried my best to stick to the eating I was doing while on MJ eg. 2L water a day, 3 meals a day, no snacking between meals, only yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, no fried food, etc. I didn't put on any weight while I was off but didn't lose any either. But now I've restarted on 2.5mg the food noise is gone again and I've started losing again.

(I stopped cold turkey after my first 7.5mg month, took 2 months off, have restarted on 2.5mg and now working my way up again.)

I read a few have had this problem too with 15mg, advice from oushk was to stop using it for 2 weeks then start again.

Also I've read some taking it every 6 days too. I'd contact your provider to see of they suggest anything.

So after two years if you are still getting food noise, what do you plan to do when you reach your goal and are no longer eligible for the injection?

You don't stop being eligible for it just because you reach a healthy BMI. Many people plan to be on it long term.

Why would OP not be eligible?

Truetoself · 09/03/2025 21:34

Oh I didn't realise as I have seen on these threads people saying they can no longer get it once a healthy weight

HolidayHappy123 · 09/03/2025 23:19

I had it prescribed in a face to face consultation by an endocrinologist who I see every 3-6 months. The plan is to stay on it long term as long as I don't suffer side effects as the health benefits for me have been phenomenal.

Similar is happening to me. I've lost almost 4 1/2 stone but been on a plateau for almost a month. It's happened once before. I came off of the drugs for 2-3 weeks then went back on and lost more weight. I'm going to try that again because I've given it almost a month. As it gets warmer I'll go out more walking that should also help kick start it again.

I spoke too soon. Appetite suppression is back and the scales have moved. Somehow I’d crept up by 5lbs but they have dropped off again, so hopefully it’s just a blip and I’m on my way to 5st loss. Then I have less than a stone to go to healthy weight!!!

To answer questions up thread, no I haven’t managed to change my eating habits. I have a chaotic lifestyle working 70+ hours a week, I don’t sleep and I have no impulse control due to ADHD. I’m just clinging on for a couple more years to retirement when I will have more ‘me time’. I perfectly understand what changes are needed I just don’t have it in me to implement them at this stage in my life.

My GP is not hugely in favour of weight loss jabs but thought in my case it made sense due to my mad life.
