Is this weight loss too rapid?

I started my mounjaro journey in the new years and have on average been losing 3lb per week. I’ve lost 2 stone in total and feeling great.

I know the ideal for healthy weight loss is more like 1-2lb a week so is this okay? I’m eating 1350 calories per day (purely because prior to mounjaro to lose anything at all I had to keep it under 1400) with 100g of protein per day. My starting weight was nearly 20
stone with a BMI of 39 so I have a lot to lose.

Just want to make sure I’m doing this sensibly I guess.

Thanks for the advice!

Your calories are pretty low as at your starting and current weight you burn a lot of calories just doing daily activities and if you start low you have nowhere to go if the weight loss slows. That said, while 3lb is quite rapid it’s probably not worryingly so, especially when you have a lot to lose. I guess it depends on whether you think you can keep it up long term on those calories or whether you feel tired/hungry a lot.

What is your TDEE?

Pyjamatimenow · 05/03/2025 14:41

No I’d say it’s fine with such a high bmi to start.

Thanks guys. TDEE seems to vary wildly depending on the calculator I use. I’m not hungry or tired - quite the opposite. Without Mounjaro I can’t lose if I go above 1400 calories a day.

I imagine it will slow down a lot now anyway.
