@TragicMuse 4lbs down is fab.

@TheFunkyDuckling great to see new starters here. The 20% figure is an average, some people lost more and some less. It also depends on their starting point as to when they needed to stop, if that makes sense. I’ve lost 34% of my starting weight so far and still continuing. My starting weight was 139kg

@Billybingbong also welcome!

Starting my journey today - jab is due to be delivered this lunch time.

Incredibly anxious since I got the dispatch note through.

CW 133.7kg
Target 100kg (which i know is still massively in the unhealthy weight zone, but i was running half marathons and cycling long distances at the time, so I'd be happy to get back to that weight)

Worried about reading that pts lose 20% off their body weight...
I have significantly more than that to lose!!

Edited

I was very anxious and nervous before I started too. I’ve just done my 6th jab this morning.

So, as a relative newbie, I want to tell you it’s ok! Ok to be nervous, ok to read the leaflet ten times, ok to take a deep breath. And ok to take the medication.

Maybe don’t even set a target? See how it goes. See how you feel next week and the week after that. Next month. You don’t have to set a target.

Have you decided whether to calorie count or use a smaller plate or whatever you choose to do to reduce the food intake?

And yes, the overall guidance that people lose 20% is a statistic but it’s an average. Some will lose more and some less. There will be outliers at both ends. And the evidence of this thread at least is that you could lose more than 20%. If that is what you want.

Deep breath. You can do it!

TragicMuse · 05/04/2025 11:17

Thanks @SilenceInside I am chuffed to bits, even if it hasn’t moved since Tuesday! 🙄

TheFunkyDuckling · 05/04/2025 11:24

Thanks @SilenceInside I just need to start my journey I guess!! Well done in your incredible weight loss!!

@TragicMuse thank you, I'm going to calorie count. Which I've successfully done in the past without jabs. Hope the injections act as as a tool to kick start me going again, and do shut out that "food noise" cos sometimes it literally is all I think about

TragicMuse · 05/04/2025 12:43

I’m finding that the Mounjaro really helps me slide over the food noise. There’s still some there mainly because I have to meal
plan for the family so all of that remains, but I just don’t care about it. Which I know sounds weird, but I can’t describe it better than that. A food thought appears and I just think ‘oh ok’ and push it aside. It doesn’t urge me to do anything or eat anything or go hunting in the kitchen.

I’ve switched to using Nutracheck instead of My Fitness Pal because I wanted a clean start. So far I am LOVING it! The one thing I’d change is the ability to import recipes - I spent an evening recreating some of the things I already had in MFP. But mostly it’s a really nice interface and experience. I’ve even paid for no ads!!

TragicMuse · 04/04/2025 17:50

Thanks @SilenceInside for the solidarity on odd weight loss patterns across the week! It makes me feel a bit less strange and a lot less despondent!

I have my old MFP account and my old Fitbit logs and a lot of photographs. I’ve matched them up and can see that how I looked at various stages which is both strange and kinda reassuring.

@Doggymummar what’s the advantage with oushk for maintenance? I haven’t thought about it yet but I hope to at some point so if there’s an advantage to be had I should look into it!!

As far as I know they are the only pharmacy that offer maintenance, happy to look at other things if you know of others, everyone else seems to cut you off at BMI 25, or if you don't order for a month. They jet you pay £15 a month to keep on the books and if you find you can't go it alone they will reorescribe even under 30bmi. They also let you do one week in one week off according to those in the FB page anyway. I haven't had my maintenance call yet at I still have three stone or more to go.

TragicMuse · 05/04/2025 14:56

That’s really helpful to know, thank you @Doggymummar - I hadn’t really thought about maintenance or what happens later on…I might have just assumed I carry on wherever I am!

TheFunkyDuckling · 05/04/2025 16:43

I know I've just started, but I'm paranoid about ordering my next dose.
What evidence do you need to get the next dose up? X x

SilenceInside · 05/04/2025 16:50

@TheFunkyDuckling no evidence at all if you’re using the same supplier. If you change supplier then you’d need a photo of the prescription label from your first pen box showing your name, the date and the dosage. You’d also need to do new photos of your figure for a new supplier,

SilenceInside · 05/04/2025 16:51

@TragicMusethere are several suppliers who support maintenance, there’s a thread somewhere in this section about it. If I can find it I’ll link it.

TheFunkyDuckling · 05/04/2025 16:52

Thanks @SilenceInside
I'm going to change supplier so thank you for this!! Think I'm going to stick with my next company though ha.

TragicMuse · 05/04/2025 17:19

Brill, thanks!

Luckypoppy · 05/04/2025 21:59

Thank you for this thread! Seriously considering starting but will probably be summer as I’m worried about the side effects happening at work. Reading your stories has helped a lot.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/04/2025 05:33

I've been someone who struggles with side effects (although still worth it).

I just thought I'd mention that mine increased as I went from 2.5 to 5 (so 4 weeks in/5weeks if you use the extra dose) and also randomly about 4weeks into the 5ng dose I started getting diahrea.

Mine was worse for the first 2 days after jabbing so for me to begin with I did Friday as soon as work finished. (Now it's stable I do Friday morning) so that the worst of it won't affect me at work.

I wasn't great for the first few days after the first couple of 2.5 jabs (exhausted. Had to lie down/sleep) but 5 was worse for me. Just wanted to mention it in case that affects your planning although I know we're all different!

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/04/2025 05:33

Also I so wished I'd started earlier...

Luckypoppy · 06/04/2025 08:44

I’m off for 6 weeks in summer. Can you use immodium? Sorry I should probably start my own thread but it seems nice and cosy in here. I have IBS so used to having to dash!

Lds1 · 06/04/2025 08:51

I jab on a Saturday night, usually we don't do alot on Sundays so it doesn't matter too much if I feel a bit rubbish. Haven't had side effects with recent jabs but in the earlier days it was usually nausea and headaches.

@Luckypoppy I'd imagine you could use immodium but as I've have had the opposite problem, I use senna now and again!

Luckypoppy · 06/04/2025 08:53

Thank you x

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 06/04/2025 09:04

Yep.
My prescriber gave us a bag of things we might find useful. And immodium (well the generic) was in there and got used by me around week 8/9/10!!

I've had a lot of nausea and early on extreme fatigue as well as the later diahhrea. Some people are sick.

However lots of people sail through without side effects too!!

Doggymummar · 06/04/2025 09:17

I honestly wouldn't use the fact you might feel a bit ropey delay your start. Most people get very few side effects and these are easily managed if you do get them. If you eat clean and plain you should be fine. Yes. It's bad for a small minority but it can be pushed through. I have been on it for two years now and was sick last Saturday night for some reason, you can't predict side effects.

TheFunkyDuckling · 06/04/2025 10:42

All these comments are very helpful. Thank you!!

I jabbed for first time yesterday afternoon (as soon as it got delivered to be fair!)
I dunno if it's the mj working already, or a bit of willpower from being on the first day off calorie counting, but I just had a small square of my sons chocolate, and I'm not raiding the fridge to eat the rest of it like I normally would!

Springsunflower · 06/04/2025 12:13

I've gone up to 12 mg on last jab .. Thursday I think
Sorry tmi coming up
I can't work out if I have a bug or it's side effects 😕
Bad stomach ,waves of sickness, but not being sick, and water the back end 😩.sorry .
But in-between running to the loo I feel fine .
I've relatives arriving tonight, and I need to tell them before they set off in case they want to cancel.
What does anyone think ..bug or side effects????

HelpMebeok · 06/04/2025 12:44

3lbs off today which takes my to total of 2 stone and 1lb. I'm thrilled

Springsunflower · 06/04/2025 14:42

Actually I think it's coffee ,I think going up to 12 mg has made me not able to tolerate coffee ,both times I was ill after drinking some .
