Is it true it doesn't work 2nd time round?

I read something that said if you come off it and later need to go back on, for alot of people it doesn't work in the same way second time. Any truth in this?

I'm not sure why that would be the case, though. It doesn't happen with any other type of medicine, does it?

IceCreamWoes · 03/03/2025 15:29

Where did you read this. I've come off it and gone back on and it works the same. But I'm not statistically significant on my own

WeAllHaveWings · 03/03/2025 15:59

It might have not worked for "a lot" of people, but did work for "many" others.

Same way 2.5mg doesn't work for "a lot" people and works for "many" others.

Unless you are quoting from a clinical study, most of what you will read will be peoples own experiences or projections.

It is an option to go back to it (if you meet your providers eligibility for weight loss or maintenance) but as with most things Mounjaro, you need to try it yourself to find out if it will work for you and work you way up the strengths again if it doesn't to begin with.

That happened to me. I was on Ozempic and it was working, but due to the shortage I was without for a few months. When I tried it again it didn't work.
I recently started Mounjaro and it's working a treat.

I was on Monjuaro for a few months, worked well but the side effects suddenly got too much when I went to 5mg but 2.5mg stopped working. Came off for a few months, and just restarted and 2.5mg has the same great suppression it initially did before it wore off. I’m tempted to come on and off to give my body a break.

hoarahloux · 03/03/2025 18:06

I took a month off and restarted at 2.5mg, after previously being on 10.

The effects are significantly lessened. It's like a whisper is there, but nowhere near what I had when I originally started. I was expecting that though and will just move up the doses as standard.

I'm on my third attempt in 3 years (Wegovy)and I've lost more this time than previously (2 stone).

Xiaoxiong · 07/03/2025 08:33

I had to take two months off and have restarted at 2.5mg having previously been on 5mg. I'm fully expecting it to take a few weeks to come back to full effect as I move up the doses again, but I've already noticed the scales coming down a bit!
