Hi.

I injected my first dose late on Saturday night. Felt fine went to bed.

Work up on Sunday feeling fine. No hunger. Amazing. Except for a high volume of eggy burps.
Had a family event in the afternoon. So although I hadn't eaten all morning I ate some lunch at around 2:30pm. I had two small slices of roast pork (about the size of bacon medallions) some veggies and 2 roast potatoes.

I didn't eat anything else for the rest of the day as I felt very full. But later in the evening started to feel queasy and had a bit of a gurgling stomach. Went to bed around 9:30 as I wasn't feeling good.

From about midnight I was up and down from bed to the bathroom. I was violently sick until my stomach was empty and then spent the rest of the night having diarrhoea.

I felt like I had an inordinate volume of eggy burps yesterday and felt in the night as if my body was trying to purge everything that had been sitting in my system.

I do feel better this morning but I'm also kind of scared of eating anything now!

Can I take OTC meds as usual to help? Like Imodium and buscopan or maybe milk of magnesia to settle my stomach? I'm conscious that most people report constipation and not the other extreme so unsure what to do.

Someone please tell me they had this and it was only at the start and went away quickly! Definitely cant cope with this routinely.

I had this at about 6 weeks when I was on the second week of 5mg. You can certainly take OTC medication. I also felt better if I had a period of fasting and just having water, then starting with really plain simple things like banana, toast, plain crackers. Just like you might if you had an upset stomach from other things. Mounjaro slows the digestion which can cause digestive upset as things are hanging around longer than usual. You want things that are easily digested, so maybe the pork was the problem as it's quite fatty and harder to digest I think - I am vegetarian so don't have first hand experience.

Pork is usually listed as one of the lean meats depending on cut. This was very lean pork so I don't think it was that but I have since realised that the roast potatoes will have been fatty because they were goose fat roasted so I think thats certainly part of the problem.

Thanks for the advice. I think I was just surprised it had such a dramatic impact so quickly after taking the first injection.

To get sulphur burps so quickly is likely to have been related to whatever was in your stomach BEFORE you took the jab as it will have sat there and fermented if you ate later on the Saturday.

Yes that makes sense because I was very surprised about the sulphur burps being so fast. I think next dose I will inject first thing in the morning so that previous food has had the whole night to process. Although of course I'm not eating so much now anyway.

I felt horrendous still earlier but only because of having been so sick last night. I managed a few water biscuits at about 11am and they feel like they've actually settled my stomach a bit. So I plan to do very tiny, semi-frequent nibbles for the rest of today to ensure that my digestive system keeps ticking over. Once every 3 hours or so.

I just had this horrendous vision of the entire time being like my experience last night and was feeling particularly sorry for myself. But it seems it was just teething pains as it were.

I’ve had this a couple of times when I’ve eaten things that were fatty. I’m just really careful not to now. I hope that means my cholesterol results will be AMAZING next time my bloodwork is done. I don’t think it means you’ll have sickness a lot, hope not. But definitely worth trying a non-oily, non-rich diet and letting things settle. Good luck!
