Left my pen out of the fridge - what should I do?

I picked up my next MJ pen yesterday afternoon. Popped it in my bag then walked home.

As soon as I walked through the door DH wanted to show me something in the garden, I ended up being very distracted and completely forgot about the pen in my bag.

I wole up this morning and remembered straightaway so shoved it in the fridge. But it's been out of the fridge for about 16 hours. I'm not due to take it until the week after next, as I've only just taken a dose and I've got another one left in my current pen.

What should I do? Do I return it to the pharmacy and will they replace it for me? Or do I throw it away, and stretch out the next dose and try for a bonus dose (never done that) at which point I can order my next pen anyway? Or does it not matter and I just take the new pen as normal?

I know once it's opened in can be out of the fridge for 30 days so I'm hoping 16 hours out of the fridge will not damage it.

Any ideas?

Well the pharmacy are not going to replace it as it's not their responsibility. Personally, I would use it as you were planning to and accept that the last dose or two from the pen might possibly not be as effective as they should be. But it might also be fine. Most of the doses from that pen would be within 30 days from today.

Is it the same strength as the one in the fridge? If so can you start using it now and then go back to the previous one at the end?

I'd pop it in the fridge, use it and wouldn't give it a seconds thought.

They are the same strength but I'm not due to use the new one until 14/03.

I would just use it as normal. Obviously the pharmacy aren't going to replace it because you forgot to put it in the fridge.

OP, I would stick it in the fridge and use it after your current pen is finished, it was only 16hrs, it hasn't been exposed to extreme heat (unless you left by a radiator) and I suspect (although I'm no expert) the worst that will happen is the last dose might be slightly, you might not even notice it, less effective.

Ask your pharmacist, I bet they say the same.

I've used a pen for 35 days before and had no issues whatsoever, effectiveness was all fine. Like others have said put in fridge then use as normal when ready to use it.

If you go to the Eli Lilly UK webpage there is a chat function. Tell them what happened and they will perform a calculation for this specific circumstance (they’ll ask you to estimate temperature and time out of fridge). I’m almost certain they’ll say minimal effect on the medication and to use as normal, but you may find it helpful to have that from the “horse’s mouth”.

I’d just use it. But mine come really well packaged and stay cold for absolutely hours after delivery, I know that because dh took one in for me and put it on the kitchen table one morning when I was at work and by the time I came home 8 hours later it was still really cold inside the packaging.

Just use it. I did this with last month's pen and used it as normal and it's definitely still working.
