Hello wonderful people!

Looking forward to hearing how we’re all getting on with your Mounjaro journey, and the general good chat!

I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

Wk5 D2 first dose of 5mg on Friday night. Felt a bit nauseous but not too bad. Bit of bloating. Good to have the appetite suppression back though as this had definitely faded last week if 2.5mg.

Lost a stone in my first month on 2.5mg. Amazing!
Even better, the constant brain fog I have due to other health reasons has stopped since day 1. I feel like a new woman!

I’m feeling tired too - but I’m eating about 1100-1200 calories a day (meeting my protein and fibre targets as set by nutracheck) so I wonder if that’s too little? What are other people eating? I’m 5 foot 2 and 52, female. I’m not sure what I should be aiming for.

You need to put your height and weight and exercise levels into a TDEE calculator like this, to find out what your cutting calories are (will be your maintenance calories- 500). Mine is 1600 so I try and stay around the 1500 mark- I’m 5’10” and about 100kg at the moment.

mysparkleismissing · 09/03/2025 20:59

Evening All!

Hope everyone is doing okay, I'm oh w5 d3 on 2.5mg did my bonus dose on Friday, that felt naughty

Just back from a weekend away and 2 days of over 20k steps! Didn't over indulge at all despite yummy pancakes just knew when to stop.

I could probably have ordered a 2nd 2.5mg pen as suppression is still good as is lack of food noise - but went for 5mg which I'll start on Friday, not entirely sure about my choice to go up tbh, guess I'd like a faster loss. Currently at 8lbs in 4 weeks so far 3/3/1/1 so right now I'm 14s 6

Calories should be 1700 I think I'm at about 1300.

I have a titration dilemma and need your hive mind as I'm driving myself crazy... I'm on W3 of 2.5 and doing ok (6lbs lost over the first 2 weeks) but suppression is not strong and food noise is back. I'm really having to concentrate to not overdo my calories - but it's manageable and I am sure MJ is 'saving' me at least 250-300 calories a day that otherwise I'd be eating.

My mum is quite seriously ill in hospital 2 hours away and I need to make my 2nd order in the next day or two to be sure it arrives in time. All things being equal I think I would go up to 5mg but I have been lucky with little to no bad side effects and need to be able to literally drop everything and go if I get a call from the hospital...

I don't think I could cope with nausea/digestion issues in these circumstances but I might be worrying over nothing. Normally I would stress/comfort eat, so the food suppression being higher would be useful!

DH thinks I stay on the 2.5 for now as I know I can do life on it - but I'm starting to struggle with the hunger/noise and if I'm travelling it will e really hard to eat as clean.

What would you guys do? Stay put for another 5 weeks.. or bite the bullet and see if the 5mg is even better for me?

In your situation I would buy the 5mg pen and then use half doses (30 clicks), if you decide to stay on 2.5mg. Leaves all your options open.

This is exactly what I have done. The pens are both about the same price, and you will get a 5th dose without needing syringes if you start on a lower dose

incognitomummy · 09/03/2025 22:54

@PurpleCoo increasing the dose to 5 as 2.5 is not a normal dose - it is not supposed to be a therapeutic level. More the "warm up".

So I'm curious what the Therapeutic level is like.

If it works then great. If it introduces new discomfort then I'll retreat but let's see.

0987654321q · 10/03/2025 05:31

Does anyone know why 5mg is constantly referred to as the lowest therapeutic dose? Was that the dose the trials showed a change in insulin levels or something? If 5mg is the minimum just because that was the minimum used in the trials it doesn't actually mean less doesn't work!

0987654321q · 10/03/2025 06:16

@DelightfullySoSo sorry to read about your mum. I'd also buy the 5mg and then take whatever dose or doses you decide from 2.5, 3.75 or 5.

Febnewbie · 10/03/2025 06:28

Someone on the previous thread - I can't remember who - referred to a podcast where a doctor explained their view that the 2.5 is not a real dose thing comes from trials with diabetics rather than from people using it for weight loss

That makes a lot of sense to me because, while anecdote is not data, the sheer number of people who successfully lose large amounts of weight on 2.5 and the fair number of people who stay on 2.5 throughout was starting to make me quite dubious about the claim that 2.5 is not therapeutic

2.5 definitely has a big effect on me but it was starting to wear off during the week and my pace of loss has been slower than most.

HoratioBum · 10/03/2025 08:20

Woke up feeling quite meh today. Very little to eat over the weekend, I really didn't feel like eating much at all. Weight has plateaued again and I think it's my body in a state of ' what the hell are you doing, woman!?'

Going to step away from calories and exercise for today and tomorrow and eat what I fancy and rest, see how that goes. I think the Meh- ness is from having so little energy.

Feb2025start · 10/03/2025 09:16

A bit of a ramble from me.

I know from the previous threads there were some people on here that were doing this 'with' someone (whether partner, friend, sibling, whoever). Anyone who has an MJ buddy, how are you finding it?

I started three weeks before DH, told him at the end of week two and he was 100% supportive and also 100% keen to try himself (at this point I'd already lost a stone nearly). That was the desired outcome as he has much more to lose than I do! So we're both on MJ, me 2.5 weeks ahead of him.

However... I am finding some things difficult to navigate. I've responded really well to MJ, really good suppression and loss and have had minimal negative side effects, whereas he's clearly lost weight (though refuses to weigh himself...) and definitely has some suppression, but not to the same degree as me and has also had really quite bad vomiting, diarrhoea and other side effects.

I mostly feel terrible that he's seeing me doing so well and he isn't getting quite the same effect... But he's also (IMO) not really 'working with' the MJ in the way I have been. E.g. I have been eating really clean, cut out alcohol, exercising, keeping hydrated, supplements etc. He almost seems to want to 'override' the MJ - like he'll get snacks from the shop when we're having an evening in, or he'll drink loads of pints cos it's the weekend, or order extra sides if eating out etc. And I really, really want this to work for both of us but I feel like he's self sabotaging or doom mongering about himself and is fixating a bit on how he's clearly a 'non-responder' and should just give up as he'll never do as well as me! Aargh! I want to shake him and get him to understand that everyone's journey is different, he IS responding and if he actually ate well and exercised he'd do ten times better! Then I feel guilty because it's all been pretty easy for me tbh and also I don't want to come across as nagging or monitoring him...

Sorry, not really looking for an answer, just wanted to offload a bit (and maybe get some solidarity/others' experiences?)! Hope everyone has a brilliant week ahead 🙂

sweetpickle2 · 10/03/2025 09:41

OOoh that would wind me right up @Feb2025start Why on earth would you go to the trouble or expense of going on a weight loss jab and not even bother weighing yourself?? Sounds like he thinks the jabs are a silver bullet- which I am sure they are for some, but if you want real results (and have a hope of making them sustainable) you have to engage your brain a bit when using them as well I think.

Just did a sneaky weigh in (official one tomorrow) and I'm under 100kg now! Am never going back over, EVER.

alwayshavebeenfemale · 10/03/2025 10:10

W3d1 another 3.5 lbs off so that's 7.5 in total. Have to say I think in my head I'd decided I'd lose a stone each week and it would be job done in 6 weeks. I wonder how many others think this. Like the PPs husband I was hoping it was magic and in some ways it is! I've never felt hungry since the 1st jab, but I wanted super dramatic results! I was already huge but was diagnosed with a brain tumour just before Christmas and had to take steroids until and after my surgery to remove it, and I'm not even back to where I was pre diagnosis.
Never mind. Inj 3 done and I'm ready for another week! Anyone else just a sneaky little bit disappointed? 🫠

Febnewbie · 10/03/2025 10:20

Has anyone else started to notice others on Mounjaro around them?

This last week, I have seen two colleagues, two teachers at my children's school and a family member who have all had long-standing weight issues noticeably much smaller.

It is really encouraging!

I sort of want to talk to them (not the teachers!) about it but I realise that would be weird

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 10/03/2025 10:41

NSV from the weekend. Went to a party and wore a jumpsuit that I bought over a year ago when I was in denial about how big I'd got, I've never been able to do it up! Had so many complimentary and i felt amazing 😁

I haven't but I'm seeing pepto bismal stands and posters in so many shops!

aylis · 10/03/2025 10:42

Another day, another side effect! I seem to have a few days in a row with no side effects and then one appears out of nowhere. This morning I've got nausea, to the point I feel like I could easily be sick, and I'm feeling quite icy. Hopefully this will pass as quickly as the rest.

Yes! I feel like lots of people are shrinking. I haven't said anything because while for many, it might be positive, I'm worried I'd put my foot in my mouth if someone is going through something awful that is causing it.

Sorry to hear about your health problems, I hope that you are on the road to recovery.
I was having ideas of being super lean by Easter but then remembered nothing as simple as that will last, so I'm happy to plod on and get there when I get there 😊

Yes, there's a lovely lady working at the local spoons, I've seen her for years, who has suddenly become a much healthier weight. She's the only one I've noticed so far but I don't want to say anything because I'm so paranoid it's not on purpose and she could actually be sick or something.

I am getting quite wound up tbh 🤣 but also feel so guilty because it's been so easy for me (sor far 🤞). I do think he was hoping for a magic fix to some extent - he actually had a gastric band years ago (wayyyy before we met) which kind of was a 'quick fix' in that he didnt have to tackle the fundamental issues in his relationship with food. But obviously they were (and are) still there which is why his weight ended up creeping back up...

Well done on getting under 100kg, that's amazing! Onwards and upwards!!!

Hangryfastjo · 10/03/2025 13:29

Oh I've just looked at my medical records and there is a letter recorded as "from an outside agency" from IQ doctor letting them know I have received a 5mg MJ prescription and if my surgery has any reason to believe I shouldn't have this, to let them know. They did it within days of my order.
That's good isn't it, although I'll feel anxious when I next go incase they have a view on it

Housewife2010 · 10/03/2025 14:06

I've just checked my NHS app. My first order was with Zava. I swapped to Med express for my second pen to use another first time order code. Med express has sent a letter to my doctor. Zava still hasn't.

Hangryfastjo · 10/03/2025 14:14

Yes, IQ dr were my second order. My first order was with Oushk and there's no letter from them on my records (yet)

Ke11 · 10/03/2025 14:57

I've just checked my gp records and I have 2 records for the 2.4 and 5mg pens on the date they were issued to me and it's listed under current medications. I'm impressed. They haven't been in touch so obviously no issues, they took my weight about a year ago too (120kg) so they must be OK with it
