I’ve lost a small dog. Has anyone seen it? Next goal for this week: goodbye Kenwood stand mixer! 😂

@Seriouslyisitbedtimeyet you can still take 5 doses within the 30 days though so I think I'd be ok with that, but not happy to push it much further. Would be 4 x 3.75 and a 5 left over if my maths is right (might not be! I'm sleep deprived)
So I could choose the higher dose or another 3.75 if that's still working for me.
I think what I actually need is a 5 day schedule (but I won't- not intending to mess around with this!)

It's really strange people saying they are more tired. I feel the opposite. I feel like my energy levels are great. I am very aware of how my body feels, and the extra stone I have been carrying above my usual max weight has felt like I am constantly carrying a heavy backpack/bumbag, and I felt slowed down, like you would if you had a heavy backpack/bumbag. I am 5kg down so far, and I feel so unburdened. I feel like I have much easier movement when I walk and swim and my middle just feels so much slimmer, and I'm zipping around even faster than usual. Not quite ready to do back flips though 😂😂

Edited

I feel more energetic too.

5kgs down after 3 weeks on 2.5MJ.

Hoping increasing dose does not change how I feel.

incognitomummy · 09/03/2025 10:34

QQ where do you inject?
So far I've been going around my belly button. Clockwise!

However I note it can also be done into the thigh.

Is there a reason to choose 1 or the other?

Has anyone noticed a difference in using different sites?

Wondering where to put my 4th dose..... keep going round the belly or maybe a little trip to my thigh....!!!

Ke11 · 09/03/2025 11:33

@incognitomummy I've been injecting into the top of my thigh since the start, I switch sides each week. I picked that location purely because I think it's easier for me physically than stomach. I get the odd tiny bruise but other than that I barely even notice it.

Ke11 · 09/03/2025 11:50

Just done jab 2 of 5mg and feeling good. This first week on 5 has been great, food noise is gone again, I'm able to turn down junk and sweets offered at work, very little in terms of side effects, just a bit of mild nausea, a headache (may have been lack of water) and regular burps. It's amazing how much better I feel with stable blood sugar, I'm not as moody, I don't mind waiting if my lunch break is late etc. I think I will try to stick at 5 for a few months since I'd like to lose around 1kg a week but no more.

Sw: 116.5kg
Cw: 108.3kg
Loss this week: 1kg

Total loss so far: 8.2kg or 18lb

I am currently below the lowest recorded weight on my phone which was 108.5 I think. Next goal is to get below 100kg which I cannot remember being below so probably was around age 13/14. I'm hoping to reach that in 10 weeks.

I've joined the gym again so I can start swimming and classes soon, just have a poorly timed eye infection to clear first (typical).

I'm finding I'm walking further with the dog even on his "short" walks, since he's getting a bit chubby too it will do him good although I don't think he's impressed.

incognitomummy · 09/03/2025 10:18

@SpiralSister I have started doing weights with a PT. At her house. I found her via a local Facebook group. And I chose her because I detest gyms and don't own any weights myself. We train outside in her garden. She has a covered patio with weights.

Works really well. Am very happy.

Worth looking locally?

(Near us there is also a Barn which the owners let out to instructors for Pilates Yoga & aerobics classes. Is there anything like that near you?)

That’s a good idea, I’ll have a look. Just don’t want to hurt myself. I tore my cruciate ligament years ago with first attempt at weights! 🤦🏻‍♀️

HoratioBum · 09/03/2025 12:09

lol @Ke11 with your dog giving you the side eye on his walks!

I've been walking home from work each day and aiming to do so as long as it's not raining. That totals about 22km per week plus DH and I try and get some long strolls in over the weekend - yesterday we walked into town, strolled around and had some chips by the sea. Walked back home again. Normally my back would have been grumbling by then but it was fine, felt like I could have walked for miles more.

To those injecting close to their belly buttons please read this. You shouldn't apparently inject too close to your belly button.

Anyone else here in menopause but noticed an increase in their emotions? I don't know if I am just upset because of something a relative said to me this morning but it feels like a hormonal ott response rather than my normally more rationale menopausal response.

Fairyflaps · 09/03/2025 12:44

2 weeks in. No noticeable side effects the second week and my blood sugar is still in the normal range. It's turning out to be better at controlling my blood sugar than the metformin (though maybe it's the combination of both) and the digestion side of it is no worse than metformin.

I've had a terrible day today.
Due to delays I only ended up taking my first dose of 2.5 yesterday evening.
I was fine up until about midday and then I was so ill. I ate a bowl of salad, threw it up and had such bad heartburn that I had a panic attack and was crying.
Feel a bit better this eve and managed to keep down a banana but still some pain and bloating.
At midday I was thinking I'll have to stop the injections, no way am I continuing. But this eve I'm thinking I may as well continue with the pen I've got.
Do the symptoms ease off on the second dose? Has anyone found this?
I wanted to do my usual exercise but couldn't as my belly was too tender.
I haven't eaten any dinner because I'm scared to.

Sorry to hear you’ve had bad side effects. I find that I really need to watch what I eat before I jab and for a couple of days after. The two times I’ve been really sick after a dose are when I’ve eaten too much the day of the jab and had a full stomach. Stick to small meals and try to avoid fatty, spicy foods too. Hope you feel better soon.

aylis · 09/03/2025 14:06

I feel more energetic too but my muscles feel heavy, I feel like they're working harder than before even while I'm moving more freely if that makes sense.

I am starving today, 3rd dose of 2.5 yesterday but I feel like I could eat everything in sight. I think the only thing that's saving me from doing that so far is the fact I built a routine in the last two weeks.

For anyone with bad heartburn, try gastro-resistant capsules (any supermarket) and also try eating the prepackaged apple slices you can get. Whatever is in them to stop them browning also helps with heartburn and acid.

incognitomummy · 09/03/2025 14:38

@SpiralSister
Yes I'm keen to lift safely and avoid further injury or aggravating old injuries so going with a real life PT was the best choice for me.

Turns out there are loads of them around here!!
I asked for recommendations on a local FB group and received loads. I made a short list from there and then looked them up on Instagram / FB / their website before I messaged about 6.

This one was my preference from the start due to her class being outside.

Working for me anyway!

Best of luck to you.

W3D1- 3rd dose today and a weigh in. So after losing 5 lbs the first week, was feeling good last week. No real side effects, had joined a gym and done 3 good strength/cardio sessions, lots of walks, eaten healthy with very few snacks and focus on protein. And my weight..... put on 2 lbs 🤬. Would love to put it down gaining more muscle mass which is heavier than fat. But only 2 weeks into the gym, I think I'd be kidding myself. Fingers crossed I see some loss this week 🤞

WLINewbie · 09/03/2025 15:15

Went for a run today, first run since starting MJ. My gut did not like it 💩. Ended up just running up and down the same patch so I wasn't too far from home just incase.

Feb2025start · 09/03/2025 15:31

@Mounjaroday not wanting alcohol is a definite bonus for me too - I think I had been lying to myself that it wasn't becoming a bit of an issue when it clearly actually was. Yesterday was a lovely sunny day and DH and I went out for a walk by the harbour, stopped off at a pub with outside tables in the sun and I had... a sparkling water! Out of choice!! Before I would have had a cocktail or cider or something justified by oh, it's the weekend/it's sunny/I deserve a treat!

I started out on this with the idea that I'd hopefully lose a bit of flab - did NOT expect that to be accompanied by a hugely reduced reliance on all my various other emotional crutches and dependencies! 😊

I feel more energetic too.

5kgs down after 3 weeks on 2.5MJ.

Hoping increasing dose does not change how I feel.

Out of curiosity, why are you increasing the dose if the 2.5mg has been working so well for you?

I have the exact same weight loss as you! I have walked 7.5 miles and swam for 1 hour two days in a row now. Although I am hungry now 😂

mumandgran24 · 09/03/2025 17:01

I am torn what dosage to order for the next month. Third jab last Thursday, lost 13lb so far and getting really good suppression and feel full so fast when I eat. Worried if I go up to 5 I won’t even be able to eat at all on the first 2-3 days after the jab as I am forcing myself as it is. Has anyone on here done a second month on 2.5 and found it ok?

I'm in the same position as you also week 3)- I've struggled to eat on day 1&2 post jab. I'm also keen to hear!

DH just complimented me on my shrinking arse. Cheered me up a bit.

I probably shouldn't have admitted I kept playing a security camera clip back and forward yesterday so I could see how my shape is changing....

It could well be inflammation. I always put on weight after a hike or heavy lifting session.

Also muscle weighs the same as fat. 1kg of muscle weighs the same as 1kg of fat. Muscle is just more dense so you'd fit more muscle into a bucket for example than you could fat. 😊

The first dose is a big milestone, try not to worry. I would suggest very gentle, bland food in small quantities. Salads can be an unknown until you work out what ingredients your body is happy with on MJ. Trust your gut and stop if you are feeling it's just not quite right - but if you do want to continue, just take it easy and slow and give the med time to settle in.

mefornow · 09/03/2025 19:01

Posting as I’m pleased with this so far…
SW 219 lbs
lost 7 lbs before my first jab.
week 1 = lost 9 lbs
week 2 = lost 5 lbs
that makes one and a half stones off!!!
taking third jab today and very pleased so far. Although I’m desperate for someone to notice!!!! lol. I think I look different but would be nice for it to be noticeable for someone else… although to be fair I have more to lose so will probably take a little while!

DelightfullySoSo · 09/03/2025 19:10

I have a titration dilemma and need your hive mind as I'm driving myself crazy... I'm on W3 of 2.5 and doing ok (6lbs lost over the first 2 weeks) but suppression is not strong and food noise is back. I'm really having to concentrate to not overdo my calories - but it's manageable and I am sure MJ is 'saving' me at least 250-300 calories a day that otherwise I'd be eating.

My mum is quite seriously ill in hospital 2 hours away and I need to make my 2nd order in the next day or two to be sure it arrives in time. All things being equal I think I would go up to 5mg but I have been lucky with little to no bad side effects and need to be able to literally drop everything and go if I get a call from the hospital...

I don't think I could cope with nausea/digestion issues in these circumstances but I might be worrying over nothing. Normally I would stress/comfort eat, so the food suppression being higher would be useful!

DH thinks I stay on the 2.5 for now as I know I can do life on it - but I'm starting to struggle with the hunger/noise and if I'm travelling it will e really hard to eat as clean.

What would you guys do? Stay put for another 5 weeks.. or bite the bullet and see if the 5mg is even better for me?
