7.5 is the therapeutic dose officially. The 2.5 is just getting your body used to the medication.

Trust in the process. If you’re still not getting suppression by the time you’re on 7.5 then it’s probably not going to work for you.

Yes, some of us respond really quickly to lower doses, but don’t be down cast. Thing of the long term results.

richardosmanstrousers · 28/02/2025 21:54

What are you eating? It's not magic, you have to be in a calorie defence to lose weight.

FknOmniShambles · 28/02/2025 21:57

Ah that's a shame OP. Without sounding rude, when you started, did you have plan of how you were going to commit to healither eating, etc? Because as pp says, it's not magic - it simply allows you to make the necessary changes without the usual cravings/bad habits.
I my first week I really had to listen to my stomach and stop preparing massive portions as was my usual habit.

Rockdaylia44 · 28/02/2025 21:57

Thanks for ur replies I've had 2 bad days and 5 good and up exercise others have said 1st week they lost about 3 to 5lbs feel deflated as lot of money

7.5mg is not a "therapeutic" dose. 5mg, 10mg and 15mg were the dose levels that were researched and have shown to produce weight loss at a specific rate. So providers prefer you to reach one of those dose levels and then continue on that level.

2.5mg is not intended to produce weight loss, although it does for some people. It would be considered normal for you not to lose any weight for the 4 weeks that you're on the 2.5mg before moving up to 5mg.

It has only been a week, the levels of Mounjaro in your system will build each week as you take the next dose. You may find that you start to experience the effects in the next couple of weeks. Or it might take till you're on 5mg or higher for that to happen. It's a long term process after all. Try and be patient.

Cherry321 · 28/02/2025 22:04

If it’s any consolation, I’m on week 2 and didn’t lose anything last week on 2.5.

Rockdaylia44 · 28/02/2025 22:04

OK so just be patient I guess , maybe expectations were to high

OP posts:
TootieFrooties · 28/02/2025 22:12

I didn't notice any change at all until the second week and I was definitely less interested in food then.

I haven't weighed myself since I started (I am on week 7 of 2.5) but I can tell I've lost weight by how my clothes are fitting.

Again, what have you eaten?

Jjff89 · 28/02/2025 22:48

It will come as long as you are in a calorie deficit. I started at 17 stone on 21st Jan and now weigh 15 stone 5lbs. It works but you have to put effort in. I walk every day, eat well and drink A LOT of water. The jabs srop me craving and thinking about food but I still have to think about what is good and not good to eat. Some people don't lose on 2.5 btw.

spamm · 28/02/2025 23:04

I have lost 60+ pounds on MJ, and am a year down the line. I can tell you that in my first month I only lost 2.5 pounds. But I kept at it, eating very healthy and walking a lot. I lost about 6 lbs on the 5.0 dose and more than 20 pounds on 7.5.

Rockdaylia44 · 05/03/2025 21:34

Week 2 not 1lb lost in 2 weeks. What am I doing wrong. I've cut down and walking lots. Drinking litter of water daily. Just not working 😕 😒

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 05/03/2025 21:40

@Rockdaylia44 remember that the 2.5mg dose level isn't intended to produce weight loss for the majority of people. The levels of medication in your system will be higher each week, so you may find that it starts to have an impact next week or the week after. Check the information from your supplier about what you should expect for the first 4 weeks.

You could also try tracking your calories exactly (weighing and measuring everything) for a week to see exactly what you're eating. If you're not losing weight then you're not in a meaningful calorie deficit yet.

Zempy · 06/03/2025 06:20

Some people don’t feel appetite suppression until 5 or even 7.5 dose.

Have you not felt any alteration to your appetite yet? If not, that’s the reason.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 06/03/2025 06:28

@richardosmanstrousers Maybe the dead horse she's flogging 😂

PsychoHotSauce · 06/03/2025 07:08

Just because you've 'cut down' does not mean you're in any kind of significant deficit. Is that just one litre of water you're drinking daily?

You can't declare 'it's not working' and say 'what am I doing wrong' without telling us what you eat? What did you eat yesterday - including snacks?

Adelstrop · 06/03/2025 08:06

Some people lose on 2.5 mg, some don't. No-one will lose anything at any dosage level unless they are in a calorie deficit. 'Cutting down' is too vague. Why not use an online tool such as My Fitness Pal to work out how many calories you should be eating, and take it from there?

Watching this OP. How have you got on since your last post?

I'm on week 3, week one list 3.5lbs but last week put on 1.5lbs. Get weighed next week so will see how I get on. Already paid in advance for 5mg for week 5!

Rockdaylia44 · 28/03/2025 21:16

4 weeks on 2.5 and lost nothing except £135 go up to start 5 next week if no suppression happens at end of 5 then will give up 😪😪

Did you not change your diet at all?

DarkForces · 29/03/2025 08:14

I'm not sure what you're expecting from Mounjaro. You need to find out how many calories you need to function at your height, weight and exercise level (lots of calculators online) then deduct 500 calories for a 1lb a week loss.

You then need to track your calories every day to make sure you are within this calorie limit. There's lots of apps that do this and this function is free. You can mostly scan bar codes and enter portion size. There's lots of threads on here with meal ideas.

Mounjaro is a tool that at the right level for you will help reduce your cravings and appetite but it's hard work and definitely a marathon not a sprint so be prepared for the long haul.

IncessantNameChanger · 29/03/2025 08:20

I had lost 5lbs before I started MJ and I'm still in week one. I'm trying to stick to fasting which has been really east last two weeks as I'm in a extremely stressful situation right now.

So I'm trying to walk more. Not eat until past 1pm.unless I have a busy morning ahead. I don't eat before exercise in the morning. Try to have fortified cereal for lunch. Very small high protein dinner then eat more lax at the weekend.

I think you need a solid plan. My basic plan is to half my food intake and up protein.

Much easier for me I know as I was already off my food. My bmi is 40 so I'm also going to get massive losses as I have a lot to loose
