Hi

I am starting this thread for anyone that is starting their weight loss in March.

I have read a lots of the other threads and have never ordered until today when I looked in the mirror this morning and did not recognise the woman staring back at me, she looked unhappy and ashamed and quite frankly fat.

I got on the scales and worked out my BMI is 32, until 3 years ago my weight was around 9 stone, I am now 13 stone, peri menopause, an under active thyroid, death of a parent and not bothering with exercise and eating too much has left me like this.

My goal is to get to 10.5 stone by the end of May as that is when my son get married, and then keep going.

So who would like to join me, where we can support each other and go onto bigger and better things in life

Morning all.

I'm waiting for my WLI to arrive today. Dont know how I'm going to get through work as I'm so excited.

My eldest is home and will be taking the package in.

Does he need to put in the fridge?

Good luck to everyone on their journey, and well done.

It all feels too good to be true.

My period is due and I had a thought. My cravings go through the flroof just before. Does anyone still get that surge for sugar and carbs on Mounjaro near their time of the month?

Happy Friday ❤️

I jabbed on Saturday and period started Sunday. Absolutely no cravings. Go for it!

Hi everyone, I am contemplating trying a weight loss drug and I am interested to know how you decided on which one. Mounjaro seems popular on mumsnet, I had only heard of Ozempic before today but I’ve also read about Wegovy and Zepbound. How did you guys decide which one to try and did you all buy it online, there’s lots of talk about sending pictures and weights. I’m not sure I have a high enough bmi to go to my GP but have been overweight, up and down for years, desperately trying to exercise, coach to 5k, gym, tennis, netball and now it’s seems that I might need a knee replacement and can no longer walk or sleep without pain. It’s seems that all that impact whilst being overweight has damaged my knee and I’m desperate to lose weight for my knees sake. I need my exercise for my mental health and to curb my eating, without the ability to exercise I’m finding my weight going up already. Injections are completely new to me and it all seems a bit scary. Any advice appreciated.

I went with MJ after a few months of deliberation, thinking I was too scared to try it. Wish I had done it months ago now! Went with MJ over Wegovy as it has bigger losses apparently. And MJ widely available in uk. You would need to have a BMI of 30 to get MJ or 27+ with a health issue related to your weight. TBH it seems like doctors won’t prescribe the injections often so you might be best sucking it up and paying for it if you do decide you want to try it.

Hoping to join you - sent photos last night to Asda. Only 11 stone but VERY SHORT so BMI is 31. I feel like don't really look very fat in photos?! But maybe I'm just used to seeing fat people everywhere: I've just come back from Paris and I was clearly twice the size of any woman I saw there! Hoping to join you all soon...

tryingtobesogood · 07/03/2025 11:44

Thank you for the tips. I have not had red meat only chicken and fish and not a lot of onion and garlic. Maybe it’s just bad luck, and this is how my body reacts.

I will pick up some actimel today and see how that helps. Hopefully it will get better.

@Autumnleaves4
GPs cannot prescribe Mounjaro currently for weight loss. It is licensed for this purpose but there is a current scramble on to work out pathways as the cost and associated manpower required is potentially enormous despite its obvious long term benefit to the health of the nation. It can be prescribed in GP in certain circumstances for diabetes. If you have a BMI over 30 or over 27 with certain relevant health conditions you can approach a pharmacy ( usually on-line) for private treatment. Your GP can refer you for weight loss support but there are long waiting lists and many hurdles to jump before injections or surgery are accessible.

Just catching up on all the messages this week and it looks like there are lots of good things going on and lots of (familiar) trepidation.

I am now on week 2 and took my second jab last night. The mental difference from last week to this is just insane. I just feel so much more positive than I have done in a very very long time.

SW 17s 3.4lb
CW 16s 9.9
TW 12s 4lb

Work is in a lull so I have concentrated on getting back outside in the sunshine and walking. I am averaging 8-10k steps for the first time in probably a year and hoping getting that habit going again will make it easier to continue when I am busier.

I don't get a massive suppression that makes me feel ill or full, I just don't need to overeat for the sake of it or raid the fridge or cupboard. I haven't really thought about wine at all since the first jab - even at the weekend! - and I have been shopping a couple of times without even thinking about getting to the chocolate aisle to buy the sharing (ha, as if I ever shared) bags of wispa bites and chocolate buttons. I just don't think about it.

There has never been a time in my life where I don't think about food in that way. The bingeing need has just disappeared.

If I try and force mysefl now to think about having a glass of wine then it's like I am trying to pin down a dream I had in the night. It is sort of vaguely familiar and fleetingly visible but I can't quite pin it down.

I have to say, having hunger at normal times but satiating that hunger with a normal portion and not even thinking about food the rest of the time is perfect. I don't know how long that will last on 2.5mg but this is a complete and utter revelation to me.

Thanks for the advice on protein stuff. I have found some different things that seem to work and have the collagen powder in my online basket to get this week.

yikesanotherbooboo · 07/03/2025 11:51

@tryingtobesogood my burps have settled now. I am wondering what will happen next week.

Hi, I started a thread yesterday saying how nervous I was about taking my 1st dose. I injected last night and feel fine this morning, a little tired but maybe just imagining this? I am 5ft3 and 14st5lb. I am usually around 12st and at that I was always exercising like mad trying to loose weight. I am a full time carer for my child who is no longer able to attend school and I binge eat to cope with stress and meltdowns. I would feel so much more able to get back to enjoying exercise if I could stop binge eating, quiet the constant what can I eat thoughts and just enjoy good food. Wishing you all a positive experience.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 07/03/2025 09:43

I have weighed today, and I am in shock, real shock! I have not had the suppression of some, I am not hungry but can still eat normal size portions and have not fancied any wine, normally if I had a bad day I would open a bottle of wine, and could drink all of it, I would do this probably twice a week but this week it does not even cross my mind.

Anyway I have lost 8 pounds in a week.

SW 13 4
CW 12 9

I know that I will not loss this every week and it’s probably just water but I am so happy, this may just work and I will not be so unhealthy and actually look nice in clothes.

How tall are @TheSpoonyNavyReader? We’ve got quite similar start weights and first weigh in weights. I’m 5ft 5. What’s your goal weight? Mine is 10 stone. The top end start of the healthy weight BMI category for me is 10 stone 10lbs.

TryingMJ · 07/03/2025 12:10

Well done on the brilliant losses everyone. But remember even losing 2lbs or just 1lb is better than either staying the same or worse, gaining.

We are very similar.

I am 5foot 4, and my goal weight is 9 and a half stone, if I could get to 9 stone I would be extremely happy.
I always look good around 9 stone but think with age and peri menopause I will never get back to that weight.

I have a pair of jeans that I was wearing 18 months ago and can’t now get them past my bum.

Looking forward to getting to our goal weight together.

I just ordered for the first time through Voy.

Very excited but nervous to start. Nervous about side effects but preemptively excited to get to feel more like me.

SW 13 stone 8
goal: not sure - hopeful to lose approx 2 stone

AvantiAreShit · 07/03/2025 12:47

Starting later this month, just 2.5mg for now. Aiming to lose about 2.5-3 stone. Feeling both excited and nervous!

Fairislesweater · 07/03/2025 12:48

Day 2. I made myself eat breakfast as didn’t really want it, and I’m not hungry for lunch either - viewing it as necessary fuel. Mouth is less dry today.

Did you have dryness yesterday? Not looking forward to that side effect if so.

Justformounjaro · 07/03/2025 13:00

Some great losses here - well done! I don’t have amazing suppression but it doesn’t feel difficult to avoid snacking, and I’ve been eating as I would normally minus the snacks. I haven’t been calorie counting so nothing about it feels like a diet.

Tonight will be a bit of a challenge though as I’ve still not told DP, and Friday night is blowout night. We normally have Chinese takeaway, wine and peanuts. Apart from the risk of side effects, I’d like to see what a full week loss will be like. I’ve been weighing daily and know I’ve lost 4lbs since last Saturday but my body might decide to hold on to some weight because of the salt intake, and the illogical side of my brain will be very disappointed to see the scales increase at this point.

I did, but I drank loads. It started wearing off before bed at 10pm (injected at 6.30am). Wasn’t unbearable, just sort of there.

Got it. I guess if you think of it as a cue to stay hydrated it's all good!

lastnightadjsavedmylifee · 07/03/2025 13:10

Can't get over the suppression from the first dose. First injection Tuesday afternoon and I've never felt truly hungry since. Or at least not how I used to. My stomach actually feels hungry before I eat now, before it was so psychological. All I could think of was eating. I came in the office today and there's a box of homemade brownies on my desk and im genuinely not bothered by them. Normally I'd have eaten at least 2 by now. It's funny seeing the world from a different food view. Just booked a holiday this morning so I've got 12 weeks to get a really good kickstart on the weight loss. I've got about 35lb to lose and I'm hoping to be down about 20lb by the time I go!

Fatmumslim01 · 07/03/2025 15:19

Still waiting for approval it's been 24 hours apparently my photos weren't clear enough so have resubmitted. Really wanted to start tomorrow so hopefully get any side effects out of the way over the weekend but that's not looking likely

Oh no that’s a shame. Who did you order with? Fingers crossed you won’t get many side effects x

seasidehunter · 07/03/2025 16:04

Oooo... my order has shipped. Now I just have to hope my son hears the doorbell (from his bed/through his headphones) if they come while I'm out tomorrow morning🤞

Congratulations @TheSpoonyNavyReader thats a fantastic start you’re off to. I’m the same, I have some suppression, still feeling the same effectiveness on day 6, but I can eat a small dinner okay. No cravings whatsoever, it’s literally like my brain wiring was altered and now I am completely unbothered by food and able to make healthy choices without feeling any deprivation at all. It’s nothing short of a miracle for me!
