I’ve been on mounjaro for several months and am in the 12.5 dose now. I’m a very slow loser and am down about 1.5st.
I get all the symptoms but mildly - indigestion, bloating, nausea, constipation.
I took my shot on Sunday (second at this dose) and started with dreadful diarrhoea on Tuesday night, still going now but I’ve not been eating so…..
Impossible questions please
Is it the mounjaro causing the diarrhoea?
what should I take? (Husband about to go to pharmacist for me)
Will it reoccur?
Should I take my next dose on Sunday?
Should I go down a dose?

As I said, I know there’s no definitive answer but other experiences would be welcome.

There's no definite way to know if it is the Mounjaro or not.
You want loperamide to help stop the diarrhoea. And make sure you keep drinking plenty.
I had this suddenly after my third dose of 10mg and then on the next dose as well, so after that I dropped back down to 7.5 and it didn't happen again.
After a few doses of 7.5 I did then successfully go up to 10 again and have had no reoccurrence, thankfully.

I wouldn't worry about a decision regarding taking the next dose and what dose to take until Sunday. Then if you're feeling better you can think about sticking with the same dose, waiting a day or two to do the next dose and/or doing a lower dose.

I've waited a couple of days before doing the next dose, as I was feeling unwell although not because of Mounjaro. I also decided not to go straight up to 7.5mg after having some side effects on 5mg.

Thank you both for your thoughts

The side effects are so hit and miss! I’m going away next weekend so really worried about that, I might delay nexts weeks dose until after my weekend away

It could be food related. Half a meatball pizza did that to me, I hadn't had pizza or pasta for over 4 months. For some it's heavy carbs, some red meat, alcohol, greasy, fatty or fried foods. I'd look at the food if it's been a long time on mounjaro and not had diarrhoea before. Or it could be a stomach bug

Don’t take loperamide (Imodium) unless you really have to.

Longer-term, taking a probiotic makes a huge difference.

How are you doing @Whatoflife? I seem to have had a very similar experience to you. Been on this for months, also losing slowly (23lbs in my case) and did my last jab from my 12.5 pen on Sunday. 12.5 has worked well for me so far with a good amount of appetite suppression (unlike on 7.5 and 10) and, other than tiredness, no real side effects. And then, boom, at work yesterday afternoon I was suddenly conscious that I needed to get to the bathroom very quickly, managed to get home and then was in & out of the bathroom all evening and all night. For me, it eased off at about 7am but I have been very careful about what I have eaten & drink today sticking pretty much to toast, an apple & a banana (my early pregnancy staples!) and only drink water. So far, I'm still feeling OK this evening which is a relief as, when I went from 2.5 to 3.75, I had three nights when I didn't get much sleep due to stomach issues although I was OK during the day.

I was on it for months with no issue. Got to 15mg and was on it 3 weeks and suddenly had explosive diarrhoea for days. Went down to 12.5 but it was the same. I’ve just gone back down again to 10 mg and so far seems to be ok. It does build up in your system

I have taken Mounjaro since April 2024 with few side effects and slow (4.5 stone) but consistent weight loss. I have taken the 12.5mg dose since November 2024 and had dreadful gastric issues since mid-January on four occasions, usually overnight, which lasts about 12 hours. I've cut back on rich food and am reducing quantities I eat too, which has helped. I think I have learnt to overcome appetite suppression, as I want to learn to eat well without the medication, and I wonder if my system struggles with this.
I was so concerned about the symptoms that I contacted my provider, VOY, who suspended my subscription.
Interesting that others have struggled recently with this.
