Panic attack and teeth chattering cold

Hi all, been feeling dizzy and odd since sat (4th 2.5mg injection) but put it down to being on period and sinus' playing up. It got worse and I went to bed really early. In the middle of the night had panic attack, teeth chattering, crying, just freaking out. My OH was great, but he has to go overseas today. I am still shaking and cold today. I have drunk a lot as was super thirsty, and eaten a bit despite not wanting too. I sent a note to the pharmacy but not heard back. Tbh I am scared. I havent had a panic attack in 30 odd years. I think it is related due to the injection date but just wondered if anyone had any advice. This will be the end of the journey for me. I had no other side effects until now.

Maybe it was prompted by hypoglycaemia? Make sure you get some food in you even if you don't feel like it. Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Thanks. It was a sugar crash, but the lack of support from the chemist and dr was a shock - and just how bad it was (still am ill this am but not as bad). Had to get my mum to pick up son and stay as I am just a mess. I put it all in the bin this am. I can't have this happen again. I was absoultely terrified. Good luck to everyone else. I guess it isnt for me.

Hi @Concavedreaming - that absolutely sucks. There is a Facebook group with lots of people that have experienced anxiety as a side effect of mounjaro.

Just to share my experience in case it's helpful, in my first week I had the worst panic attack out of nowhere, and heart palpitations. It was so scary and I wasn't sure whether to continue or not. Personally decided to try a half dose at 1.25mg and I haven't had a panic attack since, but do still get some anxiety after shot day.

Definitely have some sugar and electrolytes. Mounjaro can lower blood sugar significantly, and anxiety and panic can be linked to that too.

@Concavedreaming

I had this too. Felt cold and shakey and I still do intermittently on the weight loss injections.

Get some glucose tablets and take half as it's immediately absorbed.

Take half a tablet not half a packet. Then take another half if it doesn't subside.

I appreciate you may not feel like eating, but if you want these medications to work and to be healthy then you need to.

You should be eating a sustainable number of calories for your size, age and fitness level and those calories should be nutrient dense, plenty of vegetable, protein, good fats and vitamins.

If you starve yourself then you'll get ill, your hair will fall out, your muscles will waste, you will feel terrible,

I've been taking Mounjaro since Sept last year, I eat at minimum 1200 calories a day, protein and veg in every meal. I've lost 50lbs so it is more than possible to eat and lose weight.

Totally agree with you that good nutrition is important, and we all need to eat enough to thrive on these medicines. But in my own personal experience I was doing these things and eating proper meals and the panic attack still came out of nowhere. Think some people just sadly get anxiety as a side effect.
