Anyone felt really down on this?

Im currently on 2.5, W4 and feel so down and deflated, it may be tiredness because of half term and lack of sleep but I am just not sure. This half term I haven't enjoyed anyone's company and normally love meeting with friends. Still enjoying my children and having fun moments but feeling generally very unhappy without a real cause.

Yes I’ve noticed low mood since I’ve started taking it, and I’ve been on antidepressants for years so mood is normally fairly stable.

Someone told me it’s because you’re not getting that comfort/ reward feeling from food anymore. Not totally sure on the science behind that though.

Yes it affects the dopamine reward feeling which is good as it helps with addictions but you also don't get the pleasure feeling. I've had anxiety on it but vitamin D really helped me as it increases serotonin and melatonin so I'm sleeping better too. I take a max strength oral spray on an evening.

Yes about month three I felt extremely flat. It was horrible. I took two weeks off and then went back on after Christmas and feel much better / normal now.

Not depressed no.

I do feel very tired though, but given my low calorie intake that’s to be expected.

I have been on MJ since August. I do have periods of feeling either quite flat or anxious. Fairly certain it's because previously I used food as a reward and a stress reliever and I don't now.

That makes a lot of sense, food has always given me joy. I feel a bit better today, its balancing is the weight loss worth this feeling and currently it is.

I definitely felt like this when I first started. Not depressed but no excitement in life. I think it’s mostly passed now….maybe in line with my lacking suppression.

ChubbyMcChubfest · 23/02/2025 23:17

Yes, I noticed that I didn't feel excited/wasn't having anticipation build up for certain things that I normally would - eg a weekend away with my friends, some mates round for cocktails before Christmas and a lot of Christmas events themselves that I normally really look forward to and enjoy. I felt a bit flat about them all, enjoyed them well enough but in a yeah, it was fine kind of way. This feeling improved and I think it has been gone entirely from about 3.5 months from starting to take Mounjaro.

Not down but I could feel the difference in dopamine levels. I already take medication for ADHD so my dopamine levels are well controlled. This week's I've decided to split the 2.5 dose over 2 days 3-4 days apart to see if this makes a difference.

itsnotjustyoumate · 24/02/2025 06:32

Yep I had to stop taking it just before Christmas as I was so depressed. Flat was the right description. I just couldn't feel any joy in anything anymore, could barely leave the house

JustWalkingTheDogs · 24/02/2025 06:56

I'm normally a fairly chipper person, but I definitely feel a little 'low' a fair amount of time. Plus I'm so tired all the time, when I'm fed up or stressed I sleep, so I'm thinking that I'm not getting the energy or 'highs' from food which is making me feel fed up and tired a lot of the time

Dressinggownlife · 24/02/2025 22:47

Exactly the same. Feel very flat which is unlike me.

This was me too and I was considering coming off it but the lowness lifted about four months in and energy levels have increased…

I found daily yoga really helped with low mood at the beginning. Now I look forward to my yoga more than I do any meal, which I never would have believed before I lost 4.5 stones.
