Hey everyone, I wanted to share my journey with Mounjaro, especially from the perspective of someone who struggles with anxiety. I know how overwhelming it can be to start something new, so I hope this helps anyone in a similar position.
I’ve always lurked on here regarding weight loss! I’ve always wanted to start but as someone with anxiety it can be really hard!! So many questions! But I’m glad that I pushed through.
month 1 - commences
I purchased Mounjaro from Yourmedicals, but as soon as I placed the order, anxiety kicked in. I was already skeptical from years of struggling with weight fluctuations, and I panicked—was this the right decision? Would it make me unwell? As a single mum of 2, it was scary to almost commit myself on these payments. So I asked to cancel my order.
I had within a few hrs of asking for cancellation Yourmedicals had rang me. I explained to them my fears, my financial situation, my habits and they really were incredibly reassuring, telling me that they’d support me throughout the process. They informed me of their side effects, as I delved deeper into my hypochondria and anxiety with medications. They explained really in depth the side effects, the precaution and lots of other guidance. I really appreciated it. And valued how much they took into consideration my health and how personable they were. As someone with anxiety, hearing big words or health related things can cause me anxiety so the fact they really communicated on a personal level helped.
Relieved, I continued on with the purchase. Sent my documents - got approved.
So a bit about me, I was 86 kilos 6 ish months ago. Single mum of 2, office worker so quite sedentary. have a lot of food noises - I like to eat my cravings away. Suffered a recent divorce which really impacted my weight.
I am now 69 kilos after 6 months.
Combination of mounjaro , meal prep and home exercises!
Month 1 – Nervous but Hopeful
I started on the lowest dose, and the first few weeks were tough. I had mild nausea, but my biggest challenge was my fear—constantly worrying about side effects. I called Your Medicals several times, and every time, they reassured me and gave me tips to manage symptoms. That support kept me going.
Tips they gave me
- eating more frequently but smaller portions to avoid overwhelming digestive system
- Avoid TRIGGERS = greasy spicy foods
- Hydration
- Avoid lying down after meal!! Very important as it’s so easy to just want to relax on the sofa after a meal so this rlly helped!
Month 2 – Appetite Change
By the second month, I noticed a major appetite reduction. It felt strange, almost unnatural, not to be constantly thinking about food. My nausea subsided!
Month 3 – Seeing Changes
At this point, my clothes were looser, and I had more energy. The initial anxiety had lessened, and I started trusting my body and the medication. I still had moments of doubt—would I gain the weight back? Was this really working? But every time I felt uncertain, I reached out to Your Medicals , and they reassured me.
Now – Reflecting on the Journey
Looking back, I’m so glad I pushed through the anxiety. The support from Your Medicals made a huge difference. If you’re hesitant or struggling mentally with starting Mounjaro, having a good support system is key.
Currently maintaining on 10mg
Currently I feel so much more confident, healthier and happier!! I’ve learned new recipes and I’ve l incorporated lots of home exercises too! It’s essential to look after ourselves. As mums, it’s really common to focus our life on so much more than ourselves. We owe it to ourself to look after our health and wellbeing!
If anyone has questions or is feeling nervous about starting, I’m happy to chat! You’re not alone in this.
