What are you mostly eating?

I’m 3 weeks into wli and I have had a complete overhaul of what I eat. Im making sure that I’m having plenty of veg as well as protein and completely cut out high sugar snacks.
But the foods that are keeping me going and that I see as safe are:
cottage cheese - i am actually a little obsessed with it
green beans - I grab a handful out of the freezer to go with every dinner.
Gala apples - no other apples are as nice

let me know your go to foods! I probably should start to vary mine a bit more🫣

I only started today. I’ve bought some sugar snap peas to snack on, and some walnut halves (good for menopause). I’m having tinned soup for lunches (only half a tin, used to have all) and reheated a chilli portion tonight but could only eat half - no rice.
I picked up some protein granola at Aldi too. I’ll up the veg with tomorrows meal.

Weirdly, I've liked wetter food more than drier foods since I've been on WLI. So things like toast and sandwiches which I used to have a lot of give me the ick. Also cooked veg easier than salads to digest- so soup rather than salad. I've eaten a lot of meat- I find mince with lots of veggies and chicken with veggies and sauce have been great. And prawns.

Ponderingwindow · 17/02/2025 21:25

Breakfast is 2 eggs. I do best if I start with protein.

lunch is almost always leftovers from dinner.
dinner is lean meat of some sort and a large amount of mostly green vegetables cooked with some sort of seasoning or sauce.

I am eating far too much kale and Brussels sprouts both of which I dislike, but given my allergies and intolerances, vegetables get tricky and neither of those make me sick.

we always have assorted fruit, apples as a default.

Chicken soup, not homemade because my homemade soup tastes awful, but the nice type you get in the big plastic tubs. I've just been craving chicken and vegetable soup and no other soup will do.

Apples, I already enjoyed apples but now whenever I want sugar it always has to be an apple. That lovely sweet, sour, crispy cool feeling seems much more appealing than chocolate.

And strangely, fish. Strange because I don't normally like fish and the only fish you would ever find me eating is tinned tuna! All of a sudden I just keep thinking about flakey white fish with lovely new potatoes and tender stem broccoli. I'm finding myself perusing the frozen fish aisle looking for something to try. Right now I'm sticking with those cod packets that come with sauce in a plastic bag, or breaded fish with different herbs because it feels a "safe" fish. I'm thinking more about salmon but then it feels like too much of a "fishy" fish and I'm worried I won't like it 🤣

I found that eating beef Jerky satisfies my hunger and makes up the protein. I usually eat meat and veggies with a small amount of carbs. No processed food though - making everything from scratch and trying to do organic whenever possible. When craving sweets - I eat a date or few dried cherries.

what sucks is that I can’t have dairy which effectively takes all cheeses and yoghurts off my menu. Since I started I also can’t do eggs as they worsen the sulphur burps.

I like dried fruit, mango, cranberries, prunes, figs, the latter two keep me regular,,

past that, I like lean meats, veg, fish, seafood, veg, salad,

and Huel black , the ready to drink variety, its 35mg of protein, and protein is important and hard to get the grams in. I can’t get on with the powder variety, at all.

@Titasaducksarse we have a second ‘what I eat in a day’ thread. Come and join us.

Similar food to before but about half the amount.
No need for snacks.
Not bothered about "treats" anymore so no sugary stuff.

I like all bran and apricots which would NOT have appealed before MJ

Babymamamama · 17/02/2025 22:04

Salad with tuna mayo or chicken
Any soup as always feel cold on MJ
Protein bars
Greek yoghurt

Dried crispy mushrooms I buy as a snack from Holland and Barrett.
Loads of teas - Earl grey, decaf, herbal etc

Two large boiled eggs most days cut up and spread over two slices of seeded bread. On days I feel like having a break from that I'll eat fruit and fibre with a handful of nuts added.

I'm eating more fresh meals including steak, chicken, pork and fish (cod).

Plenty of fresh veg which to be honest I'm not really enjoying as much I'd hoped but I'm sticking at it. I tend to choose from broccoli, petit pois, green beans, carrots and baby sweetcorn.

My guilty pleasure is air fried roast potatoes made with olive oil and a teaspoon of marmite, I batch cook and then have a few with my meals over the week, really tasty.

Fruit wise I'm eating grapes, cherries and apples.

I have some protein bars to hand which I tend to eat whilst on a dog walk. I also have some whey in the cupboard (strawberry flavour) in case my protein intake is low.

I've not touched 'proper' chocolate or white bread, rice or pasta since I started. I have had some of those skinny bars but not that often as they are not the same and I find I'm preferring a few grapes.

I've eaten out a couple of times during the last few weeks including a fish and chip restaurant where I had small cod and chips with mushy peas, I concentrated on the fish and peas and when full left what I didn't want. The other time was for a normal pub meal where I had one of those hanging chicken kebabs and sweet potatoes.

I've been having my food within a window of around 8 hours, fasting the other time. I'm not trying to double down on diets, it's just that I prefer a bit of routine and discipline.

Plenty of water and black coffee throughout the day, I think my bladder is just about getting used to it and I'm not having to get up multiple times in the night like I have been the first few weeks.

I'm week 5 day 1 and took my first 5mg dose this morning. I've lost 15lbs so far from a start weight of 16st 10lb.

Homemade soup with collagen stirred in & flaxseeds sprinkled over
Cottage cheese (I stir in quick pickled red onions)
Greek yogurt usually fage 0% which I eat with berries that were stewed with chia seeds inulin & honey - portioned in freezer.
Hard boiled eggs
Curry served with cauliflower rice or sautéed cabbage (also in freezer)
I eat bags of salad leaves like crisps (always have)
Dates because they're delicious and full of minerals

I think that covers about 90% of what I eat so I could probably do with more variety!
Although the curry & homemade soup does vary I suppose. Looking forward to salads in milder weather

Ilovebabykangaroo · 18/02/2025 05:53

protein yoghurt with collagen, flax seed and berries added for breakfast .

home made soup or 2 boiled egg for lunch

grilled chicken breast with veg or salad for evening meal.

If I want something sweet, 1 scoop of icecream
if I crave chocolate 2 after eights will satisfy me.
snack on limited amount of pistachio nuts

squidgymum · 18/02/2025 08:41

Just had 2 Aldi protein pancakes topped with defrosted frozen mixed berries, cottage cheese and a drizzle of honey. Have been going without breakfast but was hungry today.

Im also obsessed with cottage cheese, its a really nice low calorie snack with some chopped tinned peaches or on Ryvita with everything but the bagel seasoning on top. Had to go to 3 shops yesterday as couldnt get cottage cheese in Tesco and Aldi!

Lunch is often soup or a protein bagel with avocado and other toppings or a salad with feta cheese sprinkled on.

Dinner is whatever I make for the family just a smaller portion.
