Hi all, I have taken my 4th injection of wegovy this morning.

I haven't felt a single bit of difference , like others have claimed to experience. In fact I have been feeling ravenous since the day I started.

I weighed today & I have put on 6lbs , I'm devastated 🙁 I'm really not sure whether to continue this & move onto the next dose or not as at the moment I am feeling like this has all been a waste of time & money!! I would really appreciate some positive stories letting me know it does get better as I really am feeling so low and deflated today 😔

Ask for this to be moved to the weight loss injection board and you'll get more traction - https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight-loss-injections

Have you been eating less? a 6lb gain with mindful eating is a lot.

Hi , thanks for your reply. Yes I have been really careful with what I am eating. I'm not sure how to move the thread ? I'm quite new to this , thanks

Just report your thread (there is a report button on the bottom of your posts) and ask the mods to move it.

You'll get a much better response.

Are you considering moving to MJ?

Doggymummar · 17/02/2025 16:40

I've asked them to move it for you

@SereneGreyFox you can report your own opening post and ask MN to move it to the other board.

As far as I'm aware, the first 4 weeks of Wegovy are on the lowest dose, and you then move up every 4 weeks until you get to the maximum 2.4mg dose. You may be one of the people who doesn't get much effect until the higher doses, or you may find that the next dose level starts to work for you.

Have you been tracking your calories carefully and sticking to being in a calorie deficit? Putting on 2 pounds a week would be a significant amount of overeating. It would seem more likely to be an issue with your scales or some other fluctuation rather than genuinely putting on fat. Assuming you're tracking your calories accurately.

StMarie4me · 17/02/2025 17:15

What's your BMI?

Glorybox2025 · 17/02/2025 17:18

It's really unlikely that you've gained anywhere near that much fat in a month. If you've been eating well then pretty much impossible. However it's true that the first month is a starter dose to build your tolerance, not effective for everyone.

Queenofthejabs · 17/02/2025 17:53

Gaining six pounds in a week is a lot, what have you been eating over the 7 days?

SereneGreyFox · 17/02/2025 17:55

Hi I think that'd been read wrong or I've written it wrong!! I have not gained 6lbs in one week! 😂 since starting wegovy ( my first injection) which was over 3 weeks ago ... I have gained 6lbs .

Try mounjaro.

I have a heart condition and cardiologist said wegovy is safer for me as it has been recommended by bhf

I have had a bit of constipation maybe that's it?

Try MJ, it has better results but you also need to track your calories. These drugs are just tools which help you lose weight but they can’t do it all for us.

SilenceInside · 17/02/2025 17:58

Gaining 6 pounds in 3 weeks is unlikely if you have genuinely been in a calorie deficit. You'd have to be overeating by 7000 calories a week to put on 2 pounds each week.

Queenofthejabs · 17/02/2025 18:05

What do you mean you’ve been careful with what you eat. Are you calorie counting?

SereneGreyFox · 17/02/2025 18:57

@Queenofthejabs Yes I'm definitely calorie counting
I'm eating lean protein, lots of veg , complex carbs very limited and eating in a calorie deficit. Compared to what others have said , wegovy has not curbed my appetite I have felt starving . . Alot worse than before I was taking it! So basically to give a bit more of a background. I have lost 2 stone in the last 18 months doing it myself calorie deficit, upped exercise and educated myself I was feeling proud but still had some weight to lose . It's a journey for me. I understand what wegovy is for , it's a tool to assist... I understand all of this , I did alot of research before deciding to go on it.
However so far my experience of wegovy is this : hungrier , feeling not full at all, weight gain & I was doing so much better without it. I posted this to see if there's others that have experienced anything similar to myself & whether it is worth sticking it out and upping the dose.
I have decided I won't be as I haven't had one comment of someone experience something similar so I've come to the conclusion that it is just not for me and will not have the same affect on my body as it does on other people unfortunately 😌

I'm sorry but it's a bit silly to give up when you haven't even gone beyond the non therapeutic introductory dose, but it's your choice. That 6lbs will drop off you soon, if what you said is true it cannot be fat.

I'm feeling like it isn't fat also. I feel bloated like it's water retention or something it's odd. I know maybe I am being a bit silly? It's just absolutely gutting when I've kept a regular weight loss all this time and then I go on this and gain! Same scales I've used my entire weight loss journey , I also checked at the doctors last week on the scales there as I had a check up anyway and they are indeed correct . 6lbs weight gain since first injection. It's so depressing 😞

Mounjaro will soon be used to treat heart failure and conditions as well as inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis and alzheimers etc due to very good clinical trial results. The heart trial was recently published, look it up. If you don't already, drink plenty of water to reduce bloating and water retention.

That's very interesting , thank you. I'll speak to my cardiologist about this

Yes BBC posted a story on their website.

Iamthemoom · 17/02/2025 20:24

All Wegovy gave me was nasty side affects, minimal weight loss and I gained more than I lost after stopping at two months in. Mounjaro has been amazing. I've lost two stone, no significant side affects and feel great. Can you switch to MJ? It's way better.
