Good decoy storage container for the fridge?

We actively encourage friends to help themselves to whatever they want in the kitchen.

I don't want the world to see the dispenser so has anyone found a good decoy container?

Empty butter tub

https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1833850519 - something like this? Maybe in black or white so it's subtle?

It only needs to be refrigerated until you start to use it then you can store it anywhere.

I put mine in a tomato purée box or hidden in the middle of a head of celery.

Tomato purée box

IrisPallida · 15/02/2025 22:42

I share a house with adult DC who all love cooking and will eat anything. A tomato puree box or butter tub would definitely be opened, and the other place that always gets mentioned, in the depths of the salad drawer, would be hopeless as well.

What I do is wrap the pen in foil and stick it in an empty Steradent tube. It is the perfect size (all other slim plastic tubes such as Vit C tablet or Berrocca containers etc are just too short) and it sits in the fridge door shelves behind all the little jars of capers & mustards that I keep there, so invisible unless you actually put your hand there. I mentioned just once that I use Steradent to disinfect plastic tubs and that has stopped anyone from ever giving it a second glance.

I actually use two Steradent tubes because I often have more than 1 pen in there.

I just wrap the box in foil & stick it at the back of the vegetable drawer.

I jabbed the same day I got my first pen so didn't need to keep it in the fridge - it went in my knickers drawer 😄

I got the 5mg pen a bit earlier than needed as I was panicking a little about the new regs being brought in (I lost a lot in week one and was heading towards being 'overweight' rather than 'obese' so was worried about being rejected!) - so that one is in an empty microwave rice sachet in the fridge.

Mine is in a 1kg Stork margarine tub and is under another 1Kg stork tub....
Don't see why anyone would remove the top one to look at the bottom one!

1Kg tub allows me to have more than 1 pen in the fridge.

Some great ideas here, mine is in an egg box as nobody else in house eats eggs.

parfaitamour · 16/02/2025 14:29

My new pen is waiting in the fridge. I put it under a bag of carrots so none of my adult children will look there, in the veg draw. Anything else will attract their attention, even a medicine packet will be inspected my one of the nosy gits. Peeling carrots to eat, is far beyond their level of interest, however.

Garlic puree box stacked behind all the half empty jars in the top right bit of the fridge. Dd would look for tomato puree and no one other than me looks through the jars.

I keep my face sheet masks in the fridge normally as I like them cold on, so I put mine in an empty box of those. I am the sole user of them, and my boxes fit perfectly inside. It has raised zero suspicion.

plantfan · 19/02/2025 13:38

Oestrogel turned out to be a good box size too.

Mines in my underwear drawer at the back! Not telling anyone I'm on this. Want to wait a bit.

ironingboardsarenotweapons · 19/02/2025 23:21

Hidden behind my egg rack here. Works a treat because said egg rack doesn't need taking out of the fridge to get an egg out of it.

Randomease · 20/02/2025 00:07

Eh? Friends regularly turn up and just help themselves to stuff in your fridge?
