Bonus dose

Can someone please give me the idiots guide to the 'bonus dose'. I'm due to move from 7.5 to 10 tonight but I can see a hefty dose left in my 7.5 pen. If I use this do I just twist and twist like previous doses? And then would I wait a week until starting the 10? Many thanks for any advice.

Best way is to invest in medical grade 1ml syringes and draw up 0.6ml (60 on the syringe)

I twisted a few and they worked fine but I think they've changed the pens as the last one broke.

Syringe is best way.

Though this obviously isn't using it as prescribed. No way I was chucking it though given how expensive it is. 🙈

The pen locks after so many clicks. Search Mounjaro kwikpen 5th dose on youtube and there are videos.

More posters are saying the hard twist method is no longer longer working (it didn't work on my last pen after working in all the previous ones).

Its a good idea to get some syringes in to use just in case - search 1ml 8mm 32G and buy from a medical supplier like UK Medi (don't buy from amazon as you don't know if they are human medical grade).

When you extract using a syringe 0.6ml is a full dose.

The pens used to twist and release the bonus dose but last time I tried that it didn't work. I bought syringes which are much better as you can dose properly. Last pen I had contained 0.8mg which is 1.3 full doses - if I'd taken that at once I'd have taken 20mg which is way too much!
if you have a new pen, take the first dose from it, put your current pen in the fridge and take your bonus dose next week after you've had time to order some syringes.

Just ordered the syringes and will do as advised with the current pen in the fridge.

I used to do the hard twist but it no longer works.I’ll not be farting around with insulin syringes so I guess no more bonus dose for me

I've not been able to make the bonus twist work on my first pen. Tried this am on my second pen, and still no luck, so rather than breaking the pen (which is what happened on my first one). I've ordered syringes and fine needles from UK Medi. Total cost is £18 inc postage but that's for 10 of each so should last ages. I've put my pen back in the fridge and will use my bonus dose next week when the syringes arrive.

I should add a bonus shot is 0.6 ml.

Slowly withdraw the medicine form the KwikPens pen and check the dose before injecting.

I had just over 0.6m and struggle to get it out! i though it was never gong to be enough but it as fine!

It depends if you are priming each time.

If you're going up a dose on your next pen it can work nicely as a bridging step up if you have a little more as makes the gap smaller

Wow, I thought it was just me being me that I couldn't get the extra dose out by twisting after being able to do so a few times previously 🙄 manufacturer has obviously cottoned on. Ordering some syringes now. Thanks everyone
