Mounjaro severe diarrhoea

Hello
I started Mounjaro on Monday 2.5
Felt a bit sick but could handle it on the Monday.
On Tuesday evening I started experiencing sulphur burps and then diarrhoea , I was up all of Tuesday night every half an hour on the toilet.
We are now on Friday morning and I am still the same, there's times where there's a short break of not going to the loo but then it starts up again terrible. I haven't ate or drank properly in 4 days now. Even a sip of water doesn't hold.
I feel so ill, I obviously have no energy and feeling dizzy.
And the pains in my stomach can be horrendous.

The burps are awful too.

I'm wondering if it's to do with the Mounjaro or maybe a bug / food poisoning as I've never felt so ill in all of my life

I took Mounjaro last summer and I was fine.

Has anyone got any advice pls?

Thanks

Go to the GP? Or pharmacist?

Poor you, often that’s what you’re eating ie high sulphur foods, eggs, garlic, onions, fizzy deinks, beans etc causes sulphur burps, and the runs from fatty or sugary food, or too much spice, but if you’re not eaten for 4 days it would seem either this is a bug or you can take the drug and need to stop.

It probably is an adverse reaction to the medication - sorry. It’s unlikely that by coincidence you have happened to contract a bug that has the exact symptoms of mounjaro intolerance. You should speak to the provider and seek medical advice if it doesn’t calm down in the next day or so.

I’ve read a few folks on here who stopped and restarted and couldn’t tolerate.

can I ask why you stopped it in the first place?

Wowzerdowzer · 07/02/2025 13:04

I got to a weight that I was happy with and stopped as I didn't really like the feeling of the nausea on and off. It was bearable but not a nice feeling.
I maintained my weight and then put on a bit over Christmas and new year and wanted to get it off having it worked so well for me last year.

hmm it seems you were not fine last year then, but unwell enough you stopped,

I don’t understand though, you said you got to a weight you were happy with and only put on a bit over Xmas and new year, but are you not obese to be able to get it again after such a break? You surely didn’t go from a healthy weight to obese over the Xmas holidays? If not obese are you buying from a regulated pharmacy? Could it be a fake?

it’s difficult to advise as the situation isn’t very clear to be honest.

I said I got to a weight that I was happy with last year.
My bmi was 30 last week when I ordered it.
I'm happy around 27/28 bmi ... i know it's still classed as overweight but I felt comfortable.

Last summer I took it for a month and was happy with the weight loss so stopped as I didn't really like the sick feeling anyway. I maintained the weight and then it crept on from December onwards which is why I ordered it again. To get a bulk off and then maintain myself

It was from med express so all
Legit.

Everyone has to do their own journey, but I cannot see how this cannot be damaging to your health, take it for a month, lose a couple of bmi points to just below obese, stop, regain, become fully obese again, start it again.

I think you can’t tolerate the drug I afraid, your body is rejecting. I’d speak to your prescriber as this is an unusual journey that many won’t be experienced in to give advice.
