I'm on 10 mg for the second month
I've lost 3 and half stone
But it's suddenly got really hard and I'm wanting to eat a lot more
Trying but failing to keep daily calories to 1400
In the past I've only ever lost weight on 800 calories
I just thought with monjroro helping me ,I could eat a bit more .
I don't know anyone in real life on this medication,so I've no one to ask what they eat or what they are loosing.
It would just be helpful to compare,so I can see if I'm eating to much or ( I wish ) to little

I have also lost 3 stone, and on my 5th dose of 10.

i have suppression constantly all week. No dip. I eat between 1200-1400 cals a day, I also exercise. I’m 11.stone 12 at 5ft 7 now.i lose about 2 lbs a week on average.

if you’re hungry I’d say you’re not at your optimal dose, so maybe need to go to 12.5.

800 is not sustainable as you know. If 1400 is reasonable I don’t know, it depends on your tdee. Mine is somewhere between 2200 and 2400 a day. And my bmr about 1200,

Doggymummar · 05/02/2025 13:40

My TDEe is 1400. I try to stick to 800 to 1000 cals but I worry about nutrients, I lose about a pound a week. It's very slow but it's heading downwards. I'm not hungry tho, I'm just about to move to 15mg perhaps you need a higher dose?

Springsunflower · 05/02/2025 13:45

Yes perhaps I do need a higher dose
I made the same mistake at 7.5 by staying on it an extra month and not loosing much .

Can I ask which TDEe calculator you use - I would love some extra calories!

CoverMeInMarmalade · 05/02/2025 13:58

I feel duty bound to point out that being hungry sometimes is normal and it is better to find a dosage balance that still allows for some hunger. Chasing total appetite suppression is not a great plan. You sound like you are hungry all the time, OP, so might not apply to you - but felt it worth a mention.

At just under 15 stone now and 5ft 8in, I eat 1500-1750 calories a day and am losing on average 2lbs a week. Every month or so there is an 'special' occasion where I decide not to track calories but a rough idea in my head inidicates I eat 2000-2500 cals on those days. This doesn't seem to have an impact on the weight loss trend.

My TDEE calculates at around 2250-2500 (depending on activity).

The calculators don’t give you extra cals, sorry, you will know your tdee is correct, as if you under eat by 500 a day it average 1lb a week weight loss, and 1000 a day is 2 lbs.

my scales tell me my bmr is 1200 cals , so I know by default my tdee is 2200 - 2400 due to how many cals I eat and what I lose, it is then validated by the online calculators. Which I just checked again and it said 2300, so the 2200 to 2400 range stands, as still correct, and if depends on my exercise that day and activity levels.

if you’re less active, your tdee will be lower, if you’re heavier or shorter, it will be higher, and it is also age dependent.

WafflingDreamer · 05/02/2025 16:38

My maintenance calories are 2290 I aim for 1500 a day and generally average out over the week on 1400. According to my app my average weightloss is 2.4lb a week

Wouldn't it be great if the calculator gave us extra free calories and we still lost at the same rate! 😉

Pandora71 · 05/02/2025 17:18

@Springsunflower do you know your BMR? I’m short and relatively small so my BMR is around 1,400 calories a day. If that’s what I was to eat, with no exercise, then I’d not lose any weight. That’s why I’ve struggled in the past!

I’m on W5, 2.5mg, and losing 2lbs a week. Eating approx 1,000 calories a day and 500 calories a day of exercise.

If I do the calculation then that’s
1,400 + 500 = 1,900 calories burned a day.
1,000 calories intake a day

That’s a deficit of 900 a day which x7 is 6,300 calories which equates to just under 2lbs a week.

I hate it, but there is a lot of truth to “calories in/calories out”. I’m not sure MJ changes that, it just makes it easier to cope on low calories!

It's your TDEE you need to work from, not your BMR

AmythestBangle · 05/02/2025 17:32

That's not how it works. You still need to eat less, it's just that the Mounjaro helps you do that (if you are on the right dose). It 's not that you can magically eat more and lose weight because you are on Mounjaro.

InfoSecInTheCity · 05/02/2025 17:39

Total loss 47 lbs since beginning of September.

Starting weight - 217.5 lbs
Current weight - 170.4 lbs

I'm still on 5mg dose, it's working so I'll stick till it stops.

I eat about 1300-1500 calories a day and aim for 2lts water. I have reduced carbs a lot and increased protein, no low fat versions of anything as it's all sugar.

If I under eat by 500 a day tho that would be 900 calories which I don't think is safe. i just want to compare.

Did you use the calculator? Your tdee is very low, which I assume you know the reason for, mine is higher as I exercise most days.

Yep just done it 1550 cals ( I'm housebound pretty much and 55 ) so 1055 it's tough. I'll try to do more exercise

ThisMustBeMyDream · 05/02/2025 18:12

My bmr is around 1380, I excercise intensely 3x a week (burning around 800cals in a 2 hour session). I am losing at best 0.5lb a week. I eat 1300-1400 cals (on WLI).
My tdee is 1960 when i put moderate exercised 3-5 times a week. Which suggests I should be losing 1lb a week. But I don't. It's shit. Which is why I need WLI to make that low calorie work for so long (20 months in with just under 7st total loss). At the 4st mark the weight loss slowed right down, which is when I started exercising (a year ago now). It picked back up for a while, but now slowed back down again. It's a long journey - I'm almost at the end. It's worth it. But it's slow. For me at least (I'm 5ft 2, 40, current weight 10st2).

Pandora71 · 05/02/2025 18:13

@Glorybox2025 yes you are right (there is little difference between the two for me)

lemoncrisp · 05/02/2025 23:43

I'm on week 3 of mounjaro and have lost 6lbs, (12st 1 down to 11 st 9). Not counting calories. Love the feeling of being able to stop eating when I've had enough. Previously if I was enjoying a meal I would keep eating til it was gone. Now I can happily bin it or save for tomorrow.

Springsunflower · 06/02/2025 15:00

No I can not make any sense of BMR
