8 weeks on mounjaro

notanormalday · 28/01/2025 18:43

Hi,

Yesterday was my 8th week on mounjaro. I've lost 1 stone. I feel really disheartened but watching tik toks of others losing massive amount of weight. I do feel different In my clothes which is a plus. But just feel like I'm not really getting anywhere.

I'm thinking my next dose to change the place I inject maybe my arms?

How has everyone else found it? What have you lost? Also any tips to help me? I have cut out chocolate, crisps etc my portions are smaller. I could probably drink more water but really struggle with that.

You'd probably get a better response posting in talk/weight-loss-injections

I read your post because I was hoping for tips on using hand weights to avoid losing muscle mass on weight loss injections.

I haven't found that different injection sites make any difference at all, but you'll get loads of different opinions if you post on the weight loss injections board.

You're losing weight at a rate of 1.75 pounds a week which is a decent sustainable weight loss. It's really not anything to be disappointed about.

Fwiw I don't think injection site makes much of a difference. Are you going up to 7.5mg next?

What was your starting weight?

Cantbesure · 28/01/2025 23:09

My loss was about the same as yours. I think a stone in 8 weeks is a great loss.

IMustBeInvisible · 29/01/2025 08:45

I feel really disheartened but watching tik toks of others losing massive amount of weight.

Your mistake is comparing your body with others, and believing everything you see online. You're doing well and losing at a regular rate. Roughly 2lbs a week loss is the average weekly loss (which is said to be around 1lbs - 2lbs a week).

Fordian · 29/01/2025 08:52

You maybe need to compare your results with other weight loss attempts you've made in the past, not TikTok influencers!

Which other method saw a stone drop off in 2 months?

Remember, the weight didn't go on overnight, it possibly won't come off overnight.

Also, the mass take up of weight loss injections is relatively in its infancy. We might yet find that the rapid losers are the rapid regainers! Obviously, we all hope their loss is sustainable, but your slower loss might be re-educating your eating habits better?

PatsArrow · 29/01/2025 08:53

I think 1 stone in 8 weeks is amazing! And sensible. It means it's proper sustainable weightloss.

I'm just over 2 weeks on it, still in the 2.5 dose. I've lost 5.2 pounds. I'm over the bloody moon! My weighing scales haven't moved an inch in years. If I can steadily loose slowly I'll be delighted.

My friend (who persuaded me to try it) has lost 1.5 stone in 3 months. She's also delighted.

I think huge weightloss very very quickly is a bit scary.

Celebrate and keep going I reckon!

Jabbabong · 29/01/2025 09:06

It is concerning that you think that level of weight loss is not enough for you. Please use the product within the guidelines and do not overdo it.

notanormalday · 29/01/2025 11:38

Thank you everyone. I feel better knowing people are having similar losses as me.

I was only concerned because everyone I talk to (the women in work who are on it, said she lost 9lb in the first week, she then lost a stone by week 3) I thought maybe it wasn't working as it should for me or I was doing something wrong. I've not once heard of people coming out saying they've lost weight slowly on them like I thought I was.

My starting weight was 16st 12lb.

I think I'm going to go up to 7.5 when I order again and try and stay on that for a while.

I do feel better in myself but I'm afraid I'm one of them people who compare themselves to social media which is something I'm really trying not to do. And after reading on here I know my weight loss is something to be proud of not something I shouldn't be happy about and comparing to other people.

Please understand that people on Tiktok lie. They need to lie because they need followers. They lie lie LIE, and people who are losing at a bloody GREAT rate like you feel disheartened and different and outcast and think they are doing it wrong.

So just step away from all that shit, and join the thread here for support for your month start date where real people are sharing their journeys.

And just to reassure you:

Based on this 2021 study into the use of GLP1 peptides for weight lost outcomes they classified a 'fast responder as someone who after 12 weeks lost greater than 5% of their bodyweight and 'super responders' achieving greater than 10% of bodyweight in the same timeframe.
Those who did not achieve greater than 5% were considered low responders.

You have lost more than 5% in just 8 weeks. You are officially already a fast responder!

Weight Loss Outcomes Among Early High Responders to Exenatide Treatment: A Randomized, Placebo Controlled Study in Overweight and Obese Women - PMC

As there is significant heterogeneity in the weight loss response to pharmacotherapy, one of the most important clinical questions in obesity medicine is how to predict an individual’s response to pharmacotherapy. The present study examines patterns .....

To be honest even if they're not lying, its ok to have a different speed of weight loss

I dont understand, how other people cant understand (!) that we are all different and therefore weight loss wont be the same, the same method, the same speed, the same effect, the same skin issues the same muscle tone issues.

Do it for you, your health and your achievement, nothing else.

I have 2 years ago! It took 4 months to even lose a stone. So don't assume I haven't struggled in the past.
