I'm on mounjaro but suffering from some occasional constipation. What laxative is safe for occasional use whilst on mounjaro?

Magnesium Citrate is what worked best for me.

Doggymummar · 24/01/2025 12:27

I use Dulcolax for a one off bout, and agree Magnesium Citrate daily is a good preventer I take at night to aid 😴

I have three prunes every day as part of my breakfast. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water too.

SilenceInside · 24/01/2025 12:27

Any of the usual OTC medications that you might normally get for constipation.

TheSillyGoose · 24/01/2025 12:32

A couple of tablespoons of chia seeds worked wonders for me

TherealmrsT · 24/01/2025 12:35

I used linseeds scattered on anything I was eating+ more water.

DumpedByText · 24/01/2025 12:39

Fibre gummies, three a day worked a treat!

mashingwachine · 24/01/2025 12:41

Check your diet before medicating. So many people on Mounjaro seem to be taking meds for sickness, constipation etc when actually the diet and fluid intake is key to resolving any issues.

morbidcuriosity · 24/01/2025 12:53

If you are suffering now, take some Dulculax. but going forward make sure you drink lots and lots of water, and i find if I feel it may be happening again i take some Movical or Luxido, which draws water from you body into the poop making it pass easier.
dulculax with stimulate the muscles to get things moving..

have a google as there is different types of laxative which do different things.

I suffered with it a couple times, now I have prunes in my diet, drink loads water and started putting flax seeds or chia seeds in my yoghurts.. but if your upping fibre you need to up water intake too.

Lilausaurusrex · 24/01/2025 13:12

I recommend fybogel. I take a sachet morning and one and night: drink lots of water as well!

Not for me - good diet with plenty of fibre, and water until it was coming out of my ears. It was brutal for a while LOL. All seems to have sorted itself now though, but if I clock that I've not been for a day or two, I might take a half dose of the MC to keep it from becoming an issue.

Henrythegorilla · 24/01/2025 16:28

Eating 2 kiwis a day (preferably with skin on), is the best thing I've found.

Natters51 · 24/01/2025 22:25

Hi I use jennah colon cleanse tablets they’re magic for constipation can take daily up to 14 days and give flat stomach too added bonus

KindOlivePanda · 15/03/2025 09:03

Hi,

It's best to always consult a Pharmacist for advise around first line OTC treatment.

Options available are lactose, senna and dulcolax

DarkForces · 15/03/2025 10:40

I got on top of it with Senna tablets for a week and keep on top of it by eating 5 prunes a day!

I was horrendously constipated on Wegovy and had to take Lactulose every single day. I don’t find it a problem now I’ve switched to Mounjaro. 15mls of Lactulose didn’t give me bowel cramps.

ICriedAllTheWayToTheChipShop · 19/03/2025 20:18

Fybogel is the best solution for me, but I tend to "make my own" using psyllium husk that you can buy from a health food shop. I mix it with some squash to make it a bit more palatable. It works out far cheaper than the Fybogel sachets.

Zempy · 19/03/2025 20:21

Senna for me.

Harry26 · 14/07/2025 17:20

Hello, can anybody tell me where I can order from starting at 12.5? I have been using Asda online Doctor but their pens seem to keep jamming. I want to use somewhere else but it seems I can only start on the lowest dose and I don’t want to have to start again! Thank you

tostaky · 14/07/2025 18:10

Flaxseed and prunes

Removed my sage advice as noticed that someone has resurrected a zombie thread. If OP hasn't gone by now, she has bigger problems!
