What happens when BMI drops under 30?

Hey all, sorry if this has already been discussed before, I wasn't sure what to search for.

For those who've been on Mounjaro or other injections on private prescription online, I was wondering what happens when your BMI dropped below the threshold for prescription (30 when no other health issues). Technically you don't qualify for the injections anymore, did you prescriptions stopped? Or they let you continue to stabilise you weight? Or were you able to continue until you reached a 'normal' BMI?

Thanks!

I would like to know this too as I am close to going under BMI 30.

The goal of the WLIs is to get you to healthy weight, so you're good to continue and be prescribed on the normal increasing prescription till 25 BMI. Then they will usually discuss maintenance and titrating prescription down.

If you read the details from your prescriber it should be clear what their policy is. Most places will continue to prescribe until your BMI is in the healthy weight range. Exactly what that range is depends on the prescriber.

You must be over BMI 30 (or 27) when you start the injections but you can continue with most providers until you are a healthy BMI.

Some providers do "maintenance" plans where you can continue with MJ for as long as you want as long as your BMI does not get too low (then you must have a break, but you can restart if you start to gain again).

Start researching provider maintenance plans before you hit BMI 30 so you can swap to them.

There are a couple of threads discussing them.

Op that’s the threshold to start. Not to finish.

usually pharmacies have a cut off point, that can be anything from 25 to 19 depending on the pharmacy,

and many now offer maintence, so if you get to a healthy bmi as long as it does t go below a certain level you can continue to buy for life. It’s called maintenance. I for example will stay on at a Lower dose so I do not regain and will get to bmi 23.

As long as you can prove you've already been taking MJ you can continue to order to get to a healthy weight.

And with some keep ordering for life.

Yes definitely.
I may be one of them!

Hi everyone, thanks mg or your replies.
I went on and ordered a pen and provided my details, pictures etc but two pharmacies have rejected me for not being eligible? Can you let me know how you got yours and where from?

Have you already been taking mj and then your BMI reduced below 30, or are you trying to start MJ with a BMI below 30 (and no other weight related health conditions)?
