Is it really worth it?

I’m not sure if there is already is a thread about this but I’ll start one anyway.

is it really worth it with these side effects? I feel ok just feeling a bit nauseous it’s one feeling that I really don’t like it takes me back to pregnancy I hated the feeling. I also started having a headache late last night.

is it worth feeling not well and genuinely under the weather to get rid of the weight?

im on my first jag I took on Tuesday night so only couple days in but I’m thinking if I’m really going to always feel sick and have headaches is it worth it?

even the look or smell of food is making me worse because I’ve not managed anything other than a sandwich yesterday morning and 2 strawberries that I had to force last night thinking it would help the sickness feeling

To be honest if I was in the right frame of mind I could have lost the weight I had done on MJ and saved myself some money. Trouble is that I wasn't when I started and still aren't to some degree. But I really needed to lose weight due to my health and it was making me more miserable gaining. I still have a long way to go so I am hoping that as time goes on I will become more motivated. My main issue is maintaining as I have lost weight plenty of times before but can't maintain.
I think this in part was getting me down as I just didn't have the will power / energy to give it another round.
It is exhausting and each time I gain the weight back it gets harder and harder both mentally and physically but I don't plan on coming off this drug for a long time or any other drug it replaces.
I believe in set point theory and I am hoping if I can maintain for longer than a few months (a couple of years) that my body will learn that this is my new weight and won't throw out constant hunger/sugar craving cues to regain.

emilysquest · 16/01/2025 15:55

A lot of people have reported that the side effects get better. You are very early on. And as other PP have said, you have really been punishing your system with large amounts of sugar and caffeine. It takes time to detox too.

sposabagnata · 16/01/2025 16:27

I’ve resurrected my login for this thread as I post so rarely but I’m actually pretty shocked at how many people are telling OP to stick it out.

WLI have been life-changing for me but no, OP, in your case and based on what you have said. I don’t think your current side effects are ‘worth it’ because I don’t think you need WLI to lose weight. You may have bitten the head off the poster who pointed it out but you are currently consuming over a thousand calories a day, or seven thousand calories a week, in fizzy drinks. If you cut them out or even just switched to diet versions you would immediately create a calorie deficit of 7000kcal across the week. To lose a pound of fat you need a deficit of 3500kcal, so you could consistently lose 2lb a week without the unpleasant nausea or the expense of the injections, although there’s no avoiding the sugar withdrawal. You would be back at 10 stone before Easter.

It genuinely seems like a no-brainer to me.

Well I think this is why this bloody topic shouldn't be titled WEIGHT LOSS injections ConfusedConfusedConfused

They are NOT weight loss injections, weight loss is a side effect of having your hormones in BALANCE and your gut not being FUCKED from an addiction to sugar and the hideous consequences of sugar addiction

Which the OP clearly has !!!

She doesn't appear like an utter fuckwit. I assume she knows that full sugar isn't a health food and has considered/tried giving it up before.

Maybe she needs the injections to cure her sugar addiction 🤷‍♀️

That is LITERALLY what they're for, to prevent diabetes

The OP doesn’t think the weight gain has anything to do with her sugar consumption, she thinks it’s solely down to the depot injection. She’s also trying to continue drinking the same fizzy drinks she drank before.

LaurieFairyCake · 16/01/2025 17:18

Well that's a bit harsh, she's not trying to continue drinking them. She put it to her mouth and it made her feel sick.

She may not be aware she is addicted to sugar. 🤷‍♀️

I mean it's a big clue if you're drinking 2 litres a day of sugar but she may not have clocked it yet.

But the biological point remains, that she feels ill because she's addicted to sugar and she's cut the sugar.

PigInAHouse · 16/01/2025 17:20

Which is what numerous people on here have told her.
OP, have you tried to quit the fizzy drinks before taking WLI?

Thank you for this this is exactly what I’m trying to say.

I've put weight on but that’s down to my depo jag I just don’t want to be feeling like crap for a long time and injected my body with things that’s just not needed.

I would love to go ahead with this weekly injection but I’m feeling unwell and I don’t like this feeling I’m feeling in a we world of my own and zoned out.

it’s not me.

OP posts:
BlueSilverCats · 16/01/2025 17:47

I think it depends.

For example, I had quite a lot to lose just to get to a healthy weight, I've yoyoed for nearly 20 years and I have diabetes.

Nausea wasn't too bad, the shits were.Grin

Also, one day of feeling absolutely miserable, but at least it was on a Saturday (jab day Fridays) so I could just spend the day in bed and not doing much.

So all in all, for me was definitely worth it. Other people might feel differently, or have alternative methods that they know they work, so it wouldn't be worth it for them.

P.S. I put 10 kgs in 3 months on the depo so it can definitely be a thing. Not that anyone or the GP believed me.

Have you tried losing the weight through diet and exercise? Cutting out the vast number of fizzy drinks?

Yes. I haven’t any fizzy drinks since I took the injection I have tried to on the Tuesday night and as soon as I put the juice to my mouth nausea started.

I’ve just been drinking water and fresh orange juice it is really hard because I’m not having any sugar really my body’s so used to having a lot of sugar also I’m not eating at all I’ve had is a cheese sandwich yesterday morning and I had to force it.

I know it’s a good thing to not having fizzy drinks but I didn’t realise how bad it really is without them.

But op you snapped at the last person who told you that. Told them you didn’t need them to tell you why you were gaining. When they pointed out you were consuming so many empty cals.

and the truth is if you cut that stuff out the caffeine and sugar withdrawal will have you feeling crap, now don’t get me wrong, cutting it out at the same time as your first injection has probably made it worse, as your blood sugar will be crazy and the drug control’s blood sugar. Of course you feel shit.

on saying that though if you cut to diet versions yes you will lose weight as that’s your issue , no drug just makes you gain weight, you need to put the cals in to do that. But yoh maybe won’t feel as bad, as you will still be consuming huge amounts of caffeine, like enormous.

personally I’d detox from the coke and redbull. Completely. Not just the sugar but due to the caffeine. And then see where you are.

Yes. I have but as explained my weight was ok previous to my depo jag (contraception) jag then put alot of weight on so I’m trying to shift that.

I know it’s a working process and if I gradually stop it would be fine but I would maybe even have small amounts during the day until I get off it completely but I can’t I can’t even take sips my body’s rejecting it

Part of me thinks that’s ok, go cold turkey, get through it, in a few days you will be fine, and on the way back to healthy.

I am not judging, I was the same with Diet Coke and my blood tests were not good, I just stopped and reversed it.

Op it’s been a day and a half.

I know it’s only been a day and a half. But I have no energy can’t stop napping.

I had a nap before I picked the kids up from school came home napped again and just woke up for there dinner? Is that fair?

I am glad that my post was helpful to you but I am afraid I am a bit baffled as to why you are on WLI at all. You've only been overweight for two months?

I think if you talk to your GP they will also tell you that you can't entirely blame the contraceptive jab. Normal weight gain on Depo-Provera is up to 8lb in two years. Two stone in two months is really excessive.

BookishType · 16/01/2025 18:01

I don’t know how I’d feel if I’d had side effects - I’ve had none whatsoever. I’m on 10mg now and still feel completely normal.

I think I’d try and power on through, especially if I had a lot to lose.

And you could shift that by cutting out the 7000 calories you drink each week in fizzy drinks, without needing to take medication.

I was drinking at least one full 2L bottle of coke each day plus 2 cans of red bull now I can’t put any fizzy just to my mouth without wanting to run to the toilet.

This isn't a bad thing imo, changing habits is a key element of MJ and fizzy drinks are terrible for you! You can't just carry on eating as you were just relying on feeling fuller faster. You have to make conscious decisions still on your nutrition to avoid constipation, muscle loss, stomach issues etc- its not a magic jab but a tool.

Yes. Sounds like a good thing.

I'm too concerned about nasty side effects to take jabs. (Yes I know obesity is bad for you!)
I'm going with low carbing & exercise op.

I have 3 st to lose which seems a lot to me, but I appreciate if you had 7 stone to lose the jab might be the best option.

Good luck to all of you! 🙌
