Is it really worth it?

I’m not sure if there is already is a thread about this but I’ll start one anyway.

is it really worth it with these side effects? I feel ok just feeling a bit nauseous it’s one feeling that I really don’t like it takes me back to pregnancy I hated the feeling. I also started having a headache late last night.

is it worth feeling not well and genuinely under the weather to get rid of the weight?

im on my first jag I took on Tuesday night so only couple days in but I’m thinking if I’m really going to always feel sick and have headaches is it worth it?

even the look or smell of food is making me worse because I’ve not managed anything other than a sandwich yesterday morning and 2 strawberries that I had to force last night thinking it would help the sickness feeling

How do you think your gut was functioning processing all that sugar and shit you were eating? Most people don't have side effects for long but if you think your body was better off on your previous way of eating then you can return to it. However it seems to me you have more health problems than just obesity!

Why do I have more health problems than obesity? Because I drink cola?

im only 12 stone I’m trying to get back to 10 stone I put two stone on after getting my depo jag 6 months ago this is the reason for weight gain? 😳

It’s not that I’m not committed I just don’t see feeling ill to lose weight feeling terrible each day not been able to deal with my both 6 year olds because I’m constantly in bed.

I do want to lose weight I wouldn’t be on the jag if I didn’t 😊

Op it’s been a day and a half.

What's your BMI?

You would easily lose two stone in a few months if you gave up the coke and Red Bull. Why do you think you need weight-loss drugs?

WeAllWould · 16/01/2025 09:55

OP, it should settle, give it time. You won't always feel like this.

Yes! That amount of sugar is a killer. Are you surprised at the suggestion that consuming that much sugar might have caused weight gain? 2l of original coke is 800 calories! And the sugar is literally addictive. You probably feel like shit because you're in withdrawal!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 16/01/2025 09:57

I'm sorry but I'm stunned by this. You having been drinking over a thousand calories a day in fizzy drinks and you think the reason you have gained weight is the depo jab?

SilenceInside · 16/01/2025 09:58

Tbf, it could be diet coke and diet Red Bull, so just a caffeine withdrawal issue rather than a sugar withdrawal.

Cazs818 · 16/01/2025 09:58

You are withdrawing from the caffeine and sugar , most of your side effects are from this not the injection

once you’ve detoxed you will feel a lot better

small light snacks and plenty of water

Well she says straight after her body is used to lots of sugar so it’s a fair assumption it’s not diet.

Well my weight has stayed between 10 stone for years!! Then i get two depo jags then put on a stone each of they 2 months? So yes more certainly it’s been the depo jags but i know my own body I don’t need u telling me how I put the weight on

There comes a point where your body can’t take that and will gain weight.

the amount of damage you’re doing to yourself is horrendous.

TurtleNest · 16/01/2025 10:07

Could the nausea be related to acid reflux? Sometimes I find taking Gaviscon (or an equivalent) settles nausea down.

Since you've already paid for the pen, I'd push through the first 2-3 weeks and give your body the time to get used to the changes. Then see how you feel, and make a decision then about whether to stop, or whether to order the next pen.

For me it definitely is worth it. The feeling you describe went away after a couple of weeks. I know I might have been the lucky one to avoid severe side effects so it is hard to advise you on whether too stick with it or not.

emilysquest · 16/01/2025 10:14

When you say "depot jags" do you mean contraceptives or antipsychotics? Both are depots and also colloquially referred to as such.

UpUpUpU · 16/01/2025 10:18

OP, you sound like you want an easy fix. This really isn't that easy!

You need to stop the fizzy drinks for weight loss, your health and your poor teeth.

It is worth it.

I was BMI of 30 with pre diabetes and started on 30th September. I have remained on 2.5mgs the whole time bar a couple of weeks of 3.75mg, which made me feel unwell, and today I am BMI 25.3. My weight was round my middle and thighs and being short, I looked terrible. My health was terrible too with joint pain, bloating, poor sleep, poor moods, inflammation, blood sugar crashes and no energy.

Yesterday I did my first pilates class in years and I could not believe this slimmer body (I am far from perfect and could do with losing 2 more KG's) was mine! My stomach no longer over hangs and protrudes and my thighs don't rub together. My joint pain and inflammation have gone and more importantly, my pre diabetes is no more.

I felt ropey the first month or so but side effects/withdrawals from sugar soon disappeared and I am fine now. Occasionally get a dull headache the day or two after injecting but that is more likely dehydration as I am not good at drinking and have to keep on top of that.

I sleep great, my moods have improved, I now do pilates and yoga, play tennis with my son, wear nice clothes and can work my 12.5 hour shifts on my feet without any joint pain or inflammation.

So I guess the answer is yes, it is 100% worth it but if you would rather stop and continue your poor habits which are damaging your health then absolutely go back to it and think no more of it.

Peridot1 · 16/01/2025 10:38

Yes I eat even if I don’t feel like it as I know I need too. A piece of toast or a couple of crackers might be enough to settle but I find it’s usually at meal times that I start to feel queasy.

However I see the thread as moved in a bit! You are probably feeling so bad as you are in both caffeine and sugar withdrawal as others have said. Even if you only stopped the coke and red bull you would be feeling rubbish due to withdrawal. If you have managed to not gain weight up to now drinking that amount you are lucky. But it’s not doing you any good. Even just giving them up would probably mean you’d lose weight.

I am a lot older than you and went on the pill years ago at age 17. I had been slim up to then. Started to gain weight and gradually got bigger and bigger as time went on. Have tried every diet under the sun and just got bigger. I came off the pill years ago but nothing changed weight wise. Well I’d lose on a diet and then put it all back on. Plus a bit!

I went on Ozempic three years ago. Three stone pretty much melted away. I’m not a doctor or scientist but I think I was insulin resistant and that is what made me struggle to lose weight and crave carbs. Not sugary drinks in my case - mostly bread and biscuits. I’m not sure but I wonder if going on the pill triggered the insulin resistance in me. And maybe the depo injection has triggered it in you? They are all hormones after all - as is Mounjaro and Ozempic/Wegovy. And they work by correcting hormones that are out of sync in some of us. As I said I’m no expert but that’s my theory!

Are you drinking 3l of water day? No caffine if can’t tolerate it and never have fizzy drinks. I have only had one jab so far but for me it was a day and a half later that the impact peaked.

PigInAHouse · 16/01/2025 11:29

That amount of Coke and red bull is bad for your body, for reasons other than weight. You might not be seeing the effects yet, but they’ll come.
If you only have 2 stone to lose, have you tried non medication weight loss methods? Diet and exercise?

PigInAHouse · 16/01/2025 11:31

Where have you bought the injections from, if you don’t mind me asking?

WeAllHaveWings · 16/01/2025 12:03

You are only two days in give it time. Speak to your provider about the side effects you are experiencing if they are causing significant issues and they can prescribe something to help such as anti sickness tablets or might be open to potentially suggest other options available to you. When you inject next week the level of concentration in your body will increase as it builds on this weeks jag, it will eventually level off in weeks 3-4 but your body will also hopefully be becoming more able to tolerate to the medication.

Is it worth it? - for me yes, as obesity impacts my life now and will impact it much more in the future, much more than the side effects I have which, after the first few weeks, are now minimal. I also don't have young kids to run around after, or a physical job so the impact of those side effect on me are different to the impact they would have on you. You need to make your own assessment as everyone is individual.

Do u eat even though you don’t feel like it at all?

the thought of food is making me want to be sick I haven’t actually been sick yet just feeling very sick I was drinking at least one full 2L bottle of coke each day plus 2 cans of red bull now I can’t put any fizzy just to my mouth without wanting to run to the toilet.

I forget majority of the time that my body is so used to lots of sugar now there no sugar in my body at all.

I’ve only ate a sandwich since yesterday morning and been drinking water, water is the only thing that’s I’m able to drink.

No wonder you are feeling awful, your body is detoxing from being loaded with the synthetic sweeteners, stimulants and flavourings in those addictive drinks.

You need to keep hydrated, use a water bottle or pint glass so you can keep track of your fluid intake, and make yourself some ginger, lemon and honey tea to help with the nausea. If that doesn't clear the headache try a couple of paracetamol.

Prioritise your health, by using the injections to completely overhaul your eating and drinking habits. Use an app or online food diary like myfitnesspro.com to keep track of what you eat so you don't go all day without eating, which will invariably leave you feeling nauseous.

Once you've got that down you can start concentrating on getting your daily protein intake up to at least 1.2g of protein per kilo of your current body weight, improving your gut microbiome by avoiding UPS and eating fermented foods like kefir, coffee, tea and dark chocolate. Plan your menus to include at least 30 different plants each week, and don't shun the healthy oils in avocados, olives and nuts because you need them too.

You'll feel a lot better once the accumulated toxins have been flushed from your system.
