My amazing auggies ladies 💖 - another thread and heading for 6mths in !!!

Be proud of us all.

We conquered our first Christmas and many of us sts or lost. Which is a first.

Those who gained it was 1-2lbs (minus the lady who ate her family and gained 18lbs) 😂😂 and the gain has come off

So to a new 2025 - some are getting near their goal and thinking about maintenance

Some still have a way to go to get to their happy weight

Some are on the highest dose of 15

Some are 5 and below

Everyone welcome

Some great losses, all! I lost a pound this week. I was a bit irritated as after losing a grudging pound at the last minute, the very next day I was a further two pounds down. So I was feeling quite smug, thinking I just had to ensure that stuck - which it did all week, until yesterday, when I was two pounds up for no good reason. So I should count myself lucky today that one graciously went away again😀The gods of weight fluctuation are toying with me, but I'm still very glad to see a loss. I'm now 10'9", so have hit the single figures of the 10s! Just two more pounds before I can treat myself to some tiny hedging plants as a reward.

I do think we all need to remember that our bodies don't necessarily know what day of the week it is or use a calendar! There's so many complex processes involved in losing weight from different places and it can't be scheduled. The weekly weigh in is for our administrative convenience, it doesn't reflect how the body works. So doing the same thing two weeks running doesn't mean we can get two weekly weigh ins with a loss. It just means that over time we will lose. Ideally I think we'd weigh monthly as that would give more time to get a truer picture, but for most of us that doesn't tie in with motivation. Plus we'd all (ok, I mean me) eat more at the start of the month and vow to eat less at the end and then fail. So the weekly record works better, but it's bureaucracy not biology.

Hi again!
Feeling like I am going to really struggle to get the last 5 pound - 8 pounds off. Quite despondent today after my PWJ! 💩
I am repeating myself a bit here, but as this thread moves so fast I don't expect people to remember everything!

A bit of advice and support needed please.
The top of my healthy BMI is 8 stone 11 pounds.
5 pounds left to my goal of 9 stone and BMI of 25.4.

I will be happy with 9 stone as I haven't been that weight for 32 years.

I started MJ in August 2024 and have lost an average of 1 pound a week. At a little under 5 foot, age 68 and a yo yo dieter since I was 15 years old, it's always been tough. While on MJ I have been eating healthy and not drinking alcohol, apart from on holiday.
Counting my calories and macros on MFP
I don't go above an average of 1000 calories a day but have less after my jab so I have some in reserve for days when less suppression.
Currently on 12.5 mg.

So this week my weight loss was only .5 of a pound. I know it's going to be tough to get the last of the weight off.
Feeling despondent 😔

Do I

  1. Increase my dose to 15 - only been on 12.5 mg for 2 weeks.
  2. Reduce my calories to an average of 800 a day
  3. Once I have reached my goal how fast can I titrate down? I don't want to come off MJ immediately or maybe never! Will post this on Ousch Maintenance page on FB
Any thoughts would be welcome x

I survived boot camp

It wasn’t as bad as I thought and took it at my own pace as know I can’t bend my knee too far so did squats for example at my level - but got lower Than I thought I would 😍

A mixture of lunges - squats - arms and weights - leg cycling - tummy stuff etx

But did enjoy it and a nice bunch of ladies all similar age to us which was nice

Sure I will Feel it tomorrow 😂

This is brilliant! Well done and keep going (says the woman who has been sat on sofa for over a week) I really need to get back to my usual walking most days.

Weepixie · 17/01/2025 12:19

@Azuresky68 Id add more calories daily then go back down again.

weaseleyes · 17/01/2025 12:23

Well done @Blondeshavemorefun ! I have arthritis in my spine and a lot of associated issues, but I sometimes think we get used to not being able to exercise and then don't notice that it is much easier when thinner! I do various forms of exercise, including yoga, and I can get much more done with smaller bulges (though I remain resolutely bad at exercise 😀).

@Azuresky68 Is there any way you could just resign yourself to a slower loss on those final pounds? I know it's pain, but you are still losing and there's probably only so much you can do. I know how hard it is when your calorie limit is so low. I eat between 800-1000 a day, so it is feasible to go lower, but my weight loss is much slower than it was. I'm not sure there's an easy way round it. Sometimes it can be worth surprising your body by eating differently for a week, if you usually always eat the same range of stuff.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 12:26

Awww @Azuresky68 ((hugs)) and 💐

you have done so well and the last few lbs are hard. You still had a loss so well done

I don’t think it’s healthy to go under 1000 cals personally

see how you do on 12.5 and maybe over the month/4w of using it or 5w if bonus - see what you lose on 12.5

I don’t think going up a dose after 2w is god

once you reach goal I assume your tdee will give you an extra 500c a day so maybe eat a little more and see how you do with weighing

I would go up for your next pen but don't go up until you have done 4 weeks at 12.5mg.

Don't worry too much about the last bit being slow, you are neatly there. How's the waist/height ratio coming along? Perhaps focus on that to distract yourself.

In terms of titrating down, I think most go back down one pen at a time until they feel they want to stick longer. Obviously you can go slower if you struggle to maintain. I think you could probably go down faster by skipping some steps if you wanted to.

@Mumontherun 😄 My joints also, really have improved and not due to the weightloss as it worked within a couple weeks but inflammation seems massively reduced

Completely agree. I felt 100% better within that time, too. I know a couple of universities are looking at MJ as a medication to reduce inflammation. Really interesting isn't it?

Azuresky68 · 17/01/2025 13:24

Oh thanks everyone for encouragement and advice. It really means a lot. I posted the question on the Ousch FB page (I tend to avoid it!) Most people said that 1000 - 800 calories was far too low and I should be on 1200 but at my weight, height and age that's not the case 😅

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2025 13:39

Well done @NippyNinjaCrab ! At that weight/height im sure you're looking very trim! We're all our own worst critics!

Well done @weaseleyes !

@Azuresky68 if you're getting plenty of suppression I wouldn't go up a dose just to lose more weight as it doesn't work like that, and I would do at least 4 weeks on each dose in case you get bad side affects. It's normal for weight loss to slow as you get close to target. Mine has (I realise I lost 5lbs last week but I'd sts for two weeks previous so evens out! You're still losing which is a great thing! All adds up!

Glad you enjoyed boot camp @Blondeshavemorefun

NippyNinjaCrab · 17/01/2025 13:52

Go Blondes for the class! Glad you enjoyed it.

@Azuresky68 my opinion is that you should stick with your current dose, if you use the 5th dose that's 3 weeks. I wouldn't reduce calories anymore that's far too low, your body will put the brakes on thinking it's going to be starved. Increase water/fluid intake (not caffeine) increase protein and try and switch your meals up and round. If you're a creature of habit like me, maybe change your eating times? You're almost there, you've done fantastic, don't rush it. For titrating down, Hira said that they do also recommend going longer between doses as you go down. She said 9 days. You're brave posting in the group haha, I'm in the maintenance one now but not the other one. Xx

Had a fab walk, i was intending on going another trail i hadn't been BUT stupid DPD sent me a text at 11.49am to tell me they would deliver my pen between 12.36 and 13.36 ffs. Luckily the hill i was up was local and I was 3/4 round my usual trail. There wasn't an option to choose a delivery company when I ordered but I've messaged Oushk and they said if there's not an option at checkout, send them a message with the order number and they will flag it for Royal Mail.

Well done @Blondeshavemorefun @FlappingMadly and @NippyNinjaCrab . great to see. I'm down a measly 0.5 lb - so still not in the 10s .. grr!

Azuresky68 · 17/01/2025 16:49

Thanks so much for all the helpful advice..it really helps a lot to be able to share with people who totally get it! I jabbed 12.5 mg yesterday and today it's really kicked in ..I haven't eaten anything yet and really don't fancy anything either 🙄 so interesting how it effects people so differently 🤔 Have a great weekend everyone and best of luck x

NippyNinjaCrab · 17/01/2025 17:02

@wohmum a wee half pound is still a loss, what do you need to be in the 10's? Xx

owlyboo · 17/01/2025 17:02

Went out for a late breakfast with a friend today and took my time (was only a small breakfast) and managed most of it... not I literally cannot face food. Hoping to get some hunger in a bit! Don't usually eat at that time (11am) and think I've confused my stomach 😂 MJ is definitely MJ'ing!

Hadn't seen my friend for a good few months since maybe a stone or so loss so 3. 1/2 stone loss probably since I last saw her and she was really shocked. She said I thought I was meeting owlyboo not her secret skinny sister 😂 I know not everyone likes people commenting but I'll take any compliment 😂😂

@doingitthistime pull up.a chair and join us for a chat.

That sounds fab @Blondeshavemorefun and hopefully the exercise will help your arthritis.

Whoop! @NippyNinjaCrab 3lb is great! And @owlyboo a lb is fab! I agree weight can fluctuate so much it's better to focus on general direction.

FlappingMadly · 17/01/2025 17:18

Hey @wohmum don't knock a half lb! Down is down!

Noce skinny half sister @owlyboo . Take it!

owlyboo · 17/01/2025 17:23

Thanks @FlappingMadly she was really lovely, told me how good I look etc. and I was a little worried as she's a similar size to me when I started so was a little worried about how she might react but she she seemed really pleased for me which is so lovely as I know it can be hard seeing a friend looking different.
