Missed dose

Hi, I have been on MJ for around 6 months.

I have been unwell recently (D&V) and missed my injection on Saturday. It was sort of a conscious decision to delay it until I could hold food down, but then I felt like it’s getting too close to my next injection so do I skip it or just take it…

There will be 12 days between injections if I take it now. I could just change my injection day going forward to stay on track next week and get back on schedule. Is this okay?

I’m on 12.5mg, am I okay to take the full dose?

Also to add I don’t think the MJ made me unwell, I think it was food poisoning or something

I think I’d maybe do half the dose now and the other half next week to get back up to the 12.5.

I get mine from Boots and they say if you have a break for two weeks you need to start again. But having been in Ozempic/Wegovy and no Mounjaro I take that with a pinch of salt as I think it is perhaps overly cautious. But I’m not sure I’d go straight back to a dose of 12.5.

In the patient leaflets there are directions what to do if you miss a dose. Worth reading so you understand them.

As its been more then 4 a
Days wait for your normal injection day and take your normal dose.

More detail on the lilly website regarding this

I found the leaflet online. https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/files/pil.15481.pdf

It says (attached) if it has been more than 4 days, to skip the dose and wait for your next scheduled day.

So if I normally inject on Saturday, am I on day 3 or 4? Personally I wouldn’t mind changing my injection day away from Saturday so I’d rather take my injection now, then in 7 days time. As opposed to waiting until Saturday again. Any thoughts?

Yeah if you are changing your injection day then no harm injecting now and going forward keep to the new day

Thank you. That’s really straightforward. I think I just confused myself! I called my pharmacy too who gave the same advice so I’m hopefully back on track now.

Hi Guys, for various reasons I had to stop taking Mounjaro for 4 weeks. I was on 12.5mg. What dose should I start back on?

This is a question for your pharmacy I think. I want to say you need to start from 2.5mg again but your pharmacy might agree to something different. It really depends on your individual circumstances and the reason why you stopped taking the medication.

Thank you. I stopped because I thought I could do it on my own, but in the 4 weeks, I have started to put weight on.

@Dinky13 I see - this might be complicated depending on the pharmacy you’re with. When was the last time you placed an order? If it’s been fairly recent like under 6 weeks, you might just be able to order a new pen without issue. However if it’s been longer than that, some pharmacies act as if you’re not on their books anymore eg if your BMI is under their threshold, they may be reluctant to prescribe. Some providers are more pro-maintenance than others and wouldn’t see this as an issue. Let us know how you get on.
