You've reached your goal weight - come chat about maintenance, not regaining, going cold turkey or titrating down

Would people who've hit their target weight be interested in a general thread on how they are getting on? You might be titrating your WLI down, you might be going cold turkey, you might be on a maintenance programme or you might have gone back on.

I used MJ for 5 months and I've hit my goal and I'm muddling through with my own version of "maintenance". I'm doing a 1.25 dose weekly to use up what I've got left and cut down gradually, so I don't lose all the benefits of MJ immediately. I was a complete lightweight and did the whole 5 months on just 2.5, as I had savage suppression and loss of appetite. So, I'm just halving my dosage.

I'd be interested to hear how others are getting on, given it all feels a bit new and the long-term aspects of weight maintenance are not yet much talked about.

Enjoy @Tohaveandtohold. I love reading updates from people who are maintaining long term!

ForLoveNotMoney · 09/08/2025 14:24

So quick update from me. I got to my goal if 59.5kg then quit once I’d maintained a while. Had awful joint pain come screaming back so restarted 3 weeks ago on 45 clicks of a 2.5mg pen. I am pleased to report my joint pain is almost gone (bar some lingering in my fingers) and I’m now 57.5kg. This has taken more fat off my middle and I feel so much better!

Mounraine · 09/08/2025 19:43

Does anyone know if any of the pharmacies technically support microdosing?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/08/2025 20:02

Still maintaining tho on holiday so be interesting /scary once home if I’ve gained

I’m eating what I fancy but equally when full I stop

This is great news, glad you were able to restart the miracle jab

Anyone who has gradually reduced their MJ dose, how gradually did you do it and would you recommend that pace, or faster or slower? I am keen to get the dose down quickly but don’t want to risk a big rebound, which I believe is more likely if you stop cold turkey.

After being on 10mg for months I have spent 6 weeks getting down to 7.5mg - does that seem sensible?

I am on 15mg and going to start tapering down to 12.5mg from next week. Ive been told by my pharmacy to taper slowly down, one dose and pen at a time as research shows doing this helps maintain weight better and allows the body to adjust to hunger and slowly increasing calories. You could ask for advice from your prescriber?

gimmemounjaro · 10/08/2025 14:04

D’oh! Yes good idea, I’ll ask the pharmacist, thanks. I have been going more slowly than reducing by one dose per month so maybe could speed up a bit. I still have a couple of 10mg pens to use up which is a bit annoying, but hey ho.

blessingindisguise22 · 10/08/2025 15:57

Oushk allows people to order every 2 months which would give you some leeway. I don't want to use Oushk but I may look at ordering every 10 weeks and stay on a low microdose.

Thanks, that could be a good option.

gimmemounjaro · 10/08/2025 18:47

I think it’s Oushk that do a sort of retainer deal where you pay a few quid a month and can go on and off MJ, no questions asked. That might also work.

Sadteacher · 10/08/2025 18:55

I’ve been back on mounjaro 2 weeks and lost a grand total of 0.5 of a pound. I have put on 7 lbs since stopping. ( mostly thanks to a holiday) I have started exercising, a mix of runs, classes and swimming. 4/5 times a week ( an increase of 4/5 times a week compared to my previous exercise regime 😂)
I wish I’d gone 5 lbs under goal before stopping now but I’m trying to use my last emergency pen to support me when I make the lifestyle changes. Though I know exercise alone won’t make the pounds fall off. The pen does make me feel more sluggish.

I've also contacted Pharmalous so will report back on what they do and don't offer. Find it extortionate Oushk charges £15 a month to keep people on their books.

I agree but I guess it’s cheaper than buying pens to stay on the books. My current supplier lets you try stopping but if you want to restart it has to be within three months, otherwise the original prescribing criteria apply, BMI of 30 or 27 with weight related issues. A completely flexible approach without the retainer would be amazing but I don’t mind paying £15pm if that’s what I need to do.

And each to their own for sure!

I'd love to know what loophole Oushk found that allows them to charge a fee for seemingly no service ie counselling yet it gives people access to pay for a medication. Please don't think I'm criticising anyone who buys from them - I'm genuinely intrigued about how Oushk get away with overriding the normal prescribing criteria.

gimmemounjaro · 11/08/2025 04:07

Yeah - I do think it’s strange that none of the others seem to offer this service.. money for old rope really!

MargoLivebetter · 11/08/2025 08:41

Morning all, sounds like it is all going fairly well in the post-WLI thread here. @Sadteacher be patient, you know you can do this. Sounds like you are on the right track now.

@blessingindisguise22 will be interested to see how you get on with Pharmalous. It is always in the back of my mind to wonder what I would do if I wanted / needed to go back on again.

That said, I'm 1lb under goal weight this week, which I attribute to salad season and lots of gardening! The long, slow tighten continues though and I'm definitely a size 10 now in modern day clothes. I wear lots of vintage clothes and still get these in size 12, as there is no doubt that clothes sizes have definitely changed!

Well I have an answer. They won't allow orders every 8 weeks.

MargoLivebetter · 11/08/2025 10:11

@blessingindisguise22 that is very annoying! I really hope that as time passes, suppliers maintenance options / offers improve.

Hello everyone, I would like to join in. I’ve been on my WLI journey for just over two years. I started off on Saxenda in May 2023, had to switch to Ozempic because of supply issues and then decided to move onto Mounjaro. I ended up on 15mg in May 2025 and used two full pens. I then began microdosing as a way of starting to move down. I’ve done 5mg twice a week for the past two weeks. I was due to jab today, but was away for the weekend and might look to increasing the time between jabs, as I’m not hungry.

I’ve lost 6 stones and I’m now hovering around a BMI of 25.5. You can see from my stats that it has been A Long Haul. I’m not sure how many people who would be delighted with my progress, but I’m pleased. I have made a lot of changes over the past two years, aided by a lactose intolerance diagnosis. So before when I was eating crisps, chocolate bars and fizzy juice in the afternoon, I’m just not doing it now. Decent dairy free chocolate costs an absolute fortune and thankfully at the moment, I don’t want to eat what I was previously eating. I need to be really careful with labels. Was at a party over the weekend and checked the labels for Aldi’s posh salt and vinegar crisps, they contained milk. Just bizarre. I’m also not really interested in alcohol either.

I’ve also had other health concerns and am slowly increasing my movement. Its difficult on the days where I feel fatigued. However, I need to make changes that are going to be doable long term. Looking forward to chatting to you all and learning lots 😁

@Tarragon123 hello!
I wonder if we have been on a thread together before? I also started Saxenda in May 23. I did actually manage by hook or by crook to remain on it up until July this year. I've lost 7.5st, and hit my target in March of this year. So not the fastest loser! But consistent!
My bmi is around 24.5 and my goal was to get my bmi to 25 so I'm thrilled!
I'm a month on from finishing sax now and maintaining is going well. I'm actually now trying to build muscle so have just started eating in a slight calorie surplus to see how that goes as I've also been weight lifting for 18 months. I'm somewhat nervous about that, but I'm told that's what I need to do!
Good luck with your maintenance plan!

Oh very possibly! I was on a Saxenda thread on here two years ago, but then when I went onto Ozempic, I couldnt find another thread!

Are you in the UK? I was absolutely gutted that I had to come off Sax. It really suited me, no sulphur burps or nausea lol. However, we are where we are. Well done on your weight loss and maintenance. You've done so well!

I think I posted on here a while ago as I was approaching goal weight, but I’m actually there now. Goal was 30kg off, 73.6kg. Reached that a couple of weeks ago and this morning I’m 72.85kg (BMI 24.6). I take 7.5mg and will gradually reduce that to the minimum dose which keeps me on the straight and narrow.

Finding it trickier both practically and psychologically, this maintenance thing. I upped my calories and slowed my loss as I approached goal, so the last few kilos took a couple of months. But now it’s hard to decide exactly where to maintain, and I’m freaked out by the normal daily fluctuations, so have been overcompensating and still eating at loss level. Suppose I’ll settle into a new pattern, but glad of this thread for company on the road.

Does anyone know if any of the pharmacies technically support microdosing?

I can tell you that Simple Online Pharmacy absolutely don't, and do everything exactly by the book.

I went up to 10mg, was very ill, so after 2 doses counted clicks to try 7.5mg (was still ill) and then 4mg. Then went away on holiday, and took away a 7.5mg pen (that I'd ordered from Simple before changing my mind and going up to 10mg, so they knew I had this pen). Counted clicks to do 5mg doses. I didn't have time to order a 5mg pen before I went hence using the 7.5mg pen.

On getting home, tried to order a 5mg pen, and to cut a long story short, wasn't allowed to. They would only let me order a 2.5mg pen, as apparently counting clicks counts as a missed dose as it isn't in adherence to the guidelines. By this, I'd missed more than 3 doses, so they were only allowed to sell me 2.5mg.

It is what it is, but I'm still slightly frustrated by it. If they hadn't sold me the 7.5mg I could understand it a bit more. This all took over a week to get sorted as well, and I was less than impressed with the delay.

I'm the same, I'm weighing daily and when I see the scales go up I rein it in a bit and then when they go down I like it 😂
I set my goal at 8st 7 (BMI 22.2) but really wanted to be 8st 4, I've not hit that target as I came down the doses, although I went back up to 3.75 just before my holiday as bad habits started to sneak in. I've not been calorie counting and struggling a bit to figure out what maintenance is. I want to eat more at the weekends so at the moment I'm eating just a bit more than I did to lose and then eating what I want at the weekend.
I think ideally I'd track for 4 weeks to figure out what my maintenance is and after that looks to weight weekly rather than daily... But not weighing myself got me into this mess so I'm loathe to let it go! I am also not ready to come off the jabs yet.
