Are there any other ' thigh only ' injectors here ? What's your experience ?

When I started my journey, I started injecting in my arms and thighs.

I had a great time. Some suppression and absolutely zero side effects..

I got to 5ml, 3rd week of that and would get suppression for max 3 days. At a push.

So I switched things up and injected my next 5 mg pen in my stomach and was VERY VERY ill. Stomach pains, vomiting. A mess.

I took a big break from it all.

Started again and I'm again just using my thighs and have gone up, extremely slowly.

I'm nearly at 5mg now and haven't had problems.

I get suppression for a couple of days and that's it.

I'm not going to make the same mistake again, as I really want to stay the course this time.

I'll keep doing it in my thighs as I think it releases the slowest there.

Does anyone else only use thighs and has been successful ? Or is that the reason the suppression only last 2 days for me ?

Many thanks

The drug is going into your fatty tissue and then being absorbed into the blood, from your blood it then mediates its effect in your organs . It makes little difference weather its your stomach or thigh as long as it is going into fatty tissue.

Sometimes it can take a while for side effects to be seen but i would be very surprised if the injection site was the cause of the issue.

I injected into my stomach and had horrific side effects for the first 6 weeks on MJ - started jabbing in my thigh after reading Eli Lily's own research on injection sites and it's made the world of difference. There are no side effects and good suppression.

I inject into my thigh, no side effects, but there wasn’t when I did my tummy, and good suppression.

I moved to thigh as I get an antihistamine reaction in the injection site and thigh is easier to deal with.

if it’s wearing off then it’s nothing todo with the injection site and you just need to move up till you find your optimal dose.

CornishPorsche · 13/01/2025 07:30

I've had no difference in side effects. I've started on the stomach now because my legs are absolutely covered in bruises and large marks like stains...

I have site reactions to injections (I also take Aimovig) and I look patchy on the skin now. Antihistamines, hydrocortisone and arnica help with the itching but make no difference to the visible marks.

Anyone had any joy with that part?

HansHolbein · 13/01/2025 08:18

For the first 12 injections I did my stomach and as I titrated up, the side effects got progressively worse. I’ve since been injecting my thigh and have had no side effects.

MeandBobbyMcGoo · 13/01/2025 08:25

I think I'm going to try my thigh this week - I'm on 5mg and feeling rubbish with nausea and stomach pains.

I take an antihistamine the night before I inject.and use and antihistamine cream on tne site,

howver after 14 weeks it’s now reducing a lot, which seems to be the same for ithers, so it appears it’s time and it stops happening.

That's really interesting would you mind sharing the research as I can't seem to find it

For the 1st 17ish weeks I injected in my stomach. I now inject in my thigh and seem to get less side effects but it probably makes no difference.

I almost always inject into my thigh. I tried tummy for 4 weeks with no change.

I have had no side effects in 7 months except mild constipation. I have had consistent weight loss, no stalls, no problems, and I am still on 5mg. Coming up to 25% weight decrease.

The one thing I can categorically state, having stayed on 5 mg for the last 5 months now, is that each week is different. Some weeks it seems that I get very hungry, particularly towards the end of the week and other weeks I get LESS hungry towards the end of the week. I would never have discovered this if I was in a rush to titrate up because I feared it was not working because I felt hungry.

Suppression is not the aim. Suppression is a red herring and will wear off after a few months even if you titrate up to 15mg.

The aim is, that when you are hungry you can eat a nutritious, calorie counted meal and feel satisfied until your next meal time. That is the key to consistent weight loss with few side effects, not trying to force starve the lbs off.

I honestly think that there are many more important things that effect weight loss than injection site.

Can you understand the results and summarise, as I can’t work out what it is saying,,,

Less nausea and vomiting injecting into the thigh was what I got from it.

Thank you, did one page also say less decreased appetite?

AugustMounjaroTeam · 13/01/2025 17:05

I have always done thigh, except for one week where I tried the stomach - it gave me a weird unpleasant taste in my mouth for a few days which I've never had any other time, so I stick to the thigh.

IrisPallida · 13/01/2025 17:40

Very roughly:

Tummy causes higher drug concentration than arm or thigh
Tummy also causes a slightly higher peak concentration than arm, and arm is slightly higher than thigh
Tummy causes more side effects than arm. Arm has slightly higher side effects than thigh (eg Nausea 21 events vs 12 vs 12. Vomiting 10 events vs 10 vs 4 respectively)

So to summarise, Tummy seems to get more drug into your system but also seems to cause more side effects. The only actual worthwhile conclusion would be that IF you get a lot of side effects and use tummy it MAY be worth trying thigh or arm instead.

HOWEVER this is just for some people - it really is worth experimenting for yourself. Anecdotally from threads such as these some people find the opposite to this trial.

And remember that tiktok is full of liars, the deluded and the truly deeply stupid, so don't take any notice of tiktokkers.

Thank you that’s helpful.

im on ten and intend to stay there, no side effects all good, but if i find it wearing off i might move to tummy, as do thigh now.

LaurieFairyCake · 13/01/2025 20:04

Only ever use my thigh in 6 months, no thought of changing at all

AquaOrca · 13/01/2025 20:27

I started on Mounjaro two weeks ago, as I suffer from extreme blood pressure (240/130) that is not responding to meds, and my cardiologist is persistent to try M to get it down.

I follow another group for these injections, and many are indeed reporting that they have more side effects from injections in the stomach, and arms, than in the thighs and posted a study on this. I therefore do my injections in the thighs only and I have seeming side-effects from the 2.5mg dose so far. I will swap the sides and sites around as you can form an intendation if you inject in the same spot again and again.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 13/01/2025 21:54

Only used tummy, 7.5mg and zero side effects in 3.5 months and great suppression.
