When do you take MJ?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice on the best time to take MJ to deal with potential side effects. I've just ordered today, waiting for a doctor to review and will see when it's due.

Was talking to someone who takes Wegovy and she says she times it with her day off - ie takes it on a Thursday night, is ok on the Friday and deals with the worse of any side effects on the Saturday.

Is it similar for MJ? Best to take at night?

Thanks for any tips!

I take it Friday night. That way if I feel rough it’s over by Monday. I’m usually alright though.

I take it Wednesday lunchtime as I don't work for the rest of the week. I have not had any side effects other than constipation tho.n

HomeworkMonitor · 12/01/2025 18:41

Sunday evening. It works all week to stop the food noise, and I can eat a Sunday lunch by the following Sunday :-). then we start again

2.5 months. 27lb loss all on 2.5mg

I work weekend nights so I started taking it Monday morning then sleeping for a bit however I'm a nurse and over Christmas we had so much food around I starting taking it on a Sunday morning to help curb my cravings at work. However I haven't had any adverse side effects at all apart from a small rash occasionally and an upset stomach if I eat too much high fat food in one go.

Thank you for your replies. Do any side effects tend to be worse immediately after taking?

I don't work on Thurs/Fri/weekend so thinking maybe a Wednesday night

There's no predicting when side effects can kick in to be honest, often its due to what you've eaten.

I take mine first thing on a Thursday AM, for me when I had a few weeks of issues after trying to increase my dose, I was unwell 48 hours post jab. Also I wanted to ensure it was good for me over the weekend and not wearing off as that's my danger time....

frogpigdonkey · 12/01/2025 20:30

I take it on Sundays. Don't work Mondays but I'm in the office Tuesday and Weds which is when I make my worst food choices so it means suppression is high when I'm most tempted!

frogpigdonkey · 12/01/2025 20:31

Also find side effects (so far) are linked to what I eat more than when I jab

morbidcuriosity · 12/01/2025 20:33

I've not had any bad side effects.. just bit of constipation a few times.. I take mine Monday so there is less suppression over the weekend . Some people want more suppression over the weekend so would take Friday..

Redlightbulb · 12/01/2025 21:34

I work from home so inject on Sundays as I need that higher suppression Mon-Fri to avoid snacking.
It also lets me go out at the weekend for a meal and not struggle to finish it.

Thank you all so much for your input, it's so helpful. What kind of foods trigger side effects? I'm assuming high fat/fried etc? Anything unexpected?

I take mine Saturday which is also my weigh in day. I have had side effects but not anything like D&V. Mainly I’ve had tiredness and feeling cold. The first month was the worse with hot flushes every hour - that was unexpected for sure. Everything has eased off though now. The only thing that has made me feel rough was a Christmas night out where I had 3 alcoholic drinks. ( im
not much of a drinker anyway though so not much tolerance )

Titasaducksarse · 12/01/2025 22:01

I've only taken 1 injection which I took last Tuesday. No ill effects other than tired Tuesday night but that's nothing odd!
Toying with moving to Monday or even Sunday as want full power during the week when I'm home alone so temptation is strong but I'm going to see how tomorrow goes first.

EveryDayisFriday · 12/01/2025 22:07

I used to do Friday morning but I never felt 100% on Friday and Saturday, slowly moved it to Sunday evening which is much better for me. Sleep off the worst of queasiness and too busy with work Monday morning to focus on any issues.

Redlightbulb · 12/01/2025 22:42

I haven't really eaten many high fat foods since starting 5 months ago.
No takeaways. I have eaten out and had burger and chips but that hasn't set off any bad side effects. What has made me a bit queasy was chicken thighs and spicy food. The chicken thighs had some crispy skin on so were quite fatty.

The side effects that I have is more down to the delayed gastric emptying than what I have eaten.
The day after injecting is the strongest.
Food usually only stays in the stomach for up to 2 hours but with taking this drug food has stayed in my stomach before for 24 hours. This has caused a build up of acid resulting in acid reflex, sulphur burps and some vomiting.

icecreamfish · 12/01/2025 23:46

I'm keen to start soon, this is all really helpful thank you.

Bellyblueboy · 12/01/2025 23:53

I take on Thursday evenings. Never had any big side effects - dull headache and fatigue first week.

i take on Thursday and get maximum suppression on Saturday and Sunday

i have just taken my 16th injection and have lost over 2 stone.
