I’ve been on mounjaro for 3 months, lost two and a half stone, previously I lost half a stone before that, I’m now a stone overweight.

I look different. Like I can see it significantly. Everyone can. As all the bloating has gone off my face and tummy,

when we gain weight it’s usually over a long period, so no drastic sudden appearance changes, but this loss is rapid in comparison to thE years and years if can take to gain significantly and become obese , so our appearance can change quite rapidly. Mine did. 3 months ago I was bloated and obese.

how are you all finding that. From how you mentally adjust and dress, to comments you receive etc from others? How you dress, how you now present yourself?

I've lost just over 2 stone and not a single person has commented. Maybe they haven't noticed or maybe they just haven't commented. I'm not sure which. I look different. I've also massively toned up.

Ive also lost 2 stone with very few comments! I've downplayed it as I don't really want comments or scrutiny. I think people are generally polite and won't make a big deal of it if you don't- it's kind of rude to comment on someone's body. I feel much more confident and I'm probably making a bit more effort with my appearance overall but I haven't really changed the way I dress or present myself. Are you getting comments OP?

I am so glad you said that!!

I’m the EXACT same, I’ve lost 2 stone and it’s not just in my head but I am noticeably slimmer however NOT ONE person has commented positively or negatively, no one 😵‍💫

CobaltRewind · 12/01/2025 10:48

Just to add… I’m so glad I’m doing this for me and not other people 😁

RabbitsRock · 12/01/2025 10:55

I’ve lost 4 stone & quite a few people have commented. On Facebook, friends are asking for tips as they want to lose weight too. Strangely I’m still the same dress size in a lot of things, although I think I was kidding myself before & trying to squeeze into clothes that were really too small.

There was a thread about this recently and lots of people agreed that they wouldnt comment on anyone losing weight because it can be a sensitive issue and it's kinda rude. I never comment on anyone's weight because its none of my business and I have no idea if its intentional or due to stress or illness etc

It's a social minefield and best to stay away from. Doesnt mean you dont look fab!

1clavdivs · 12/01/2025 10:59

I've lost nearly 4 stone and am now just over a stone overweight. I know I'm smaller and I'm in size 12-14 now whereas I was in size 18 before, but I really struggle to see the difference. I don't see much of a difference in myself regardless of what I weigh, unless I look at photos. This might be one reason my weight can creep up and up like it does - I just don't see it.

I've had a couple of comments from others, but not many. That's fine with me - I hate feeling scrutinised. Generally though I'm ok with all of the above as I'm doing it for health not looks, so it's all low on the list for me.

Yes, but all from friends or family who know I’m not unwell and wish to lose weight. I’d expect them to comment. I work from home so am not sure how colleagues will react when I see them in a few weeks, but as I’ve worked there a long time and they know me well, I’d expect the same from the ones I’m closest too.

its also though I guess me, I look different, to give an idea of scale, I’ve lost over ten inches from my stomach. I clearly had a significant medical problem, maybe insulin resistant or a metabolic issue, that’s now resolved. In addition my face was very bloated, and it’s normal I guess again. So when I look in the mirror I feel a little bemused to be honest.

Yes I didn’t see it as I gained, as it is so slow, it’s years, where as the way back down is months, which I think is the difference. I am also doing it for health as I had some issues that needed resolving.

I've lost just over 2 stone in 3 months. My Mum and MIL mentioned it but no-one else. Then at a work meeting on Friday someone mentioned ordering us new uniforms (change in colour for my team) and I asked if I could have a size guide because I might need to drop down from my last order having lost some weight.

There was an audible intake of breath and someone said, 'thank god you've mentioned it - it's so noticeable but I didn't want to mention it in case you thought I was rude.' Turns out everyone had noticed but no-one had said anything.

Queue then lots of questions about how, how great I'm looking but also how I seem more 'glowy and confident'. All true I think.

So I'd suggest people probably have noticed - if it matters, drop it into conversation and see their reactions.

This is totally true!!

A relative of mine has lost a lot of weight and I've not seen her for a while so it was v v noticeable when I saw her. She looked amazing! But I didn't what to sound rude so I just said 'i love your coat!' to which she replied she's had it for years and it's from Primark! and she didn't seem v happy with the compliment! :)

It was only later than her friend said in front of her 'have you noticed X has lost 2 stone'. I was so relieved they raised it and X looked happy and wanting me to comment! So I was then able to say 'yes, of course I've noticed, you look amazing! Well done!'

I think people absolutely do 100% notice but either think it's rude or that you might be ill, so don't say anything!!

This always happens to me! Even though I can clearly see when I loose weight, I often stay the same dress size! Glad I'm not the only one :)

murraymcgill · 12/01/2025 12:06

Hi everyone I'm the same 2 stone down and iys as if no one wants to say anything about my looks

soupfiend · 12/01/2025 12:08

Why do people say that weight gain happens slowly? Didnt for me.

unsync · 12/01/2025 12:27

I've used collage pics to help me adjust. So side by side images which have helped me work out where and how things are changing. Not getting my head round it previously has always been my downfall as I felt like a stranger to myself, so this time I've made an effort from the start to notice the changes and absorb them into my sense of 'me'.

When others comment, I just thank them and make an appropriate reply. TBH I don't really care what others think or say as I'm doing this for me.

Sorry wasn’t implying for everyone, I was careful with my words to show that, but for many of us, it is slow to go from slim to obese, so the change is gradual basically.

Not a word. Ive lost just over a stone and no one has noticed. I am really glad of that.

What I find interesting is that I feel a bit scared at the prospect of not being overweight. I think its been my protection from attention...

WorriedRelative · 12/01/2025 17:36

I have now lost 2st 4lbs and the only person who has commented is my Mum, though she said Dad noticed too.

I am sure work have noticed too but likely haven't said anything because I think the part where it became noticeable co-incided with me having quite a lot of time off and they probably think it is due to stress.

I totally relate to this. For years, if I thought about losing weight I'd have a knee-jerk fear response. I tried to dig into why, but I don't really know. Have assumed also that it's mostly to do with protection.

Onceachunkymonkey · 12/01/2025 18:31

Part of me wonders if folks looked at me and thought, god she got really fat and didn’t say anything, as that would be rude. But they must have done,if they notice it coming off.

but other people don’t really bother me to be honest, it’s more me mentally adjusting to my new appearance, as it is a rapid change for me personally, so my brain is playing catch up’😳

OP posts:
housemaus · 12/01/2025 18:47

Weirdly I really don't want anyone to notice? I think because I didn't dislike my body before(/now - still early days!) but I just know it's not especially healthy, so I'm doing it for that reason after some (unrelated) health issues that have popped up that are worsened by being overweight.

The thought of someone giving me a 'you look GREAT' in a couple of months time makes me feel prickly and mad, which is definitely also tied to my upbringing and my mum's view of being fat and something I need to tackle in my head. But it sounds like people aren't as likely to say something as I think, which is good!

NewLifter · 12/01/2025 21:06

Great Post op. Its a challenge, isn't it?

I hate when people comment, I massively play it down.

I get so embarrassed- it was me who let the weight pile on after all.

I also can't really see much difference in the mirror and don't think I look slim, yet I'm now a size 10 so my brain know that surely I must be slim?

Meh, it's really not easy!

im glad I’m not the only one finding it a challenge to be honest. As I am finding it a bit of a “mind fuck”

i also down play it, when someone comments, even though, so far it’s close friends and family so i have no issue with them doing that.

i did this for health as said, i had to, but there is no doubt the change in appearance is something i need to adjust to, and if i need to adjust to it, then i guess everyone else does too .

I have gone from 12st 5 in September to 10st today.

size 16 to size 12.

my face looks quite different. I hate people noticing and have bought the same clothes just in smaller sizes so there are no dramatic changes.

I have another 10lbs to go - I still don’t feel great about myself, and I get cross that I let myself get obese.

I went though my wardrobe today and tried on all my trousers and removed all the trousers that are too big. I wasn’t left with many. I have some very expensive dresses form the last time I was a size 10 and 12, but they are about ten years out of date😩. This is costing a fortune! Not to mention the bras!

Pyjamatimenow · 13/01/2025 00:09

I’ve gone from a large 14 to a size 6/8 and I’m very tall at (5ft 11) so people do notice. I find it all really embarrassing. A woman the other day who hadn’t seen me for a while went on for a good few minutes about how thin I am. I literally don’t know what to say. Ive had lots of negative comments from family as well which is hard to cope with.
