Hopefully a last question - when to start

So decision pretty much made now.

My final issue is when to start. January is a miserable month at work and this Jan is worse. Than normal.

Also my kids birthday at the end of the month. Early Feb I have a day trip to London, a couple of theatre shows and may have a few client meetings.

So it feels like I'm potentially kicking this down the road. My main worry is a bad stomach (I am not one who enjoys a public poo at the best of times) or feeling really rough at something important.

I also want to give myself some headspace to do this properly - one of my main defaults is to eat crap to manage work stresses.

But there is always going to be something isn't there. I know not everyone gets side effects anyway and many can manage them ok. I think it's just fear of the unknown tbh.

What would people recommend? At the moment I'm planning to start the Thursday after my London trip in mid Feb. Start doing the prescription process early February.

As you say, there's always a reason not to start. Are these valid reasons or excuses? Only you can decide if the potential benefits outweigh the risks and, if they do, just go for it.

There'll always be something, I've delayed for months and have finally gone for it- glad I have and a bit annoyed with myself as could be seeing good results by now!

Personally I'd just go for it.

You have to do what you feel is right but, to me, it sounds mad to put it off for so long when relatively few people have significant side effects on the low dose like that. Personally, I'd look at what days of the week most your social stuff falls on and take it on the following day of the week.

Eg most your social stuff falls on a Saturday? Then take the jab tomorrow evening because it's a Sunday. It means that, in the future, you'll be as far from the jab that week as possible so less likely to be getting full appetite suppression - makes it easier to eat a little bit without feeling too full.

I’m not sure the decision has been made if you’re finding reasons not to do it?

myladyjane · 11/01/2025 08:51

Ahhhhhh you are all right. Fuck it. Maybe I do it today.

I was planning on taking it on a Thursday night - I always wfh on a Friday, my weekends aren't madly social (I am not madly social). I work
In the office in the middle of the week and eat dinner quite late as I'm often not home until 8ish but it's just a case of having stuff prepped isn't it. Not all the toast.

I'd just go for it - there will always be a reason not to do it.

I didn't get side effects at all on 2.5 mgs but at 5, I felt nauseous and tired the day after my jab, it eased off over 3 days and was much better by days 2. I am only on 5 so I don't know if that will happen after each increase in dose.

So your idea of jabbing on a Thursday if your Friday is a WFH day might be slightly easier to deal with side effects sounds good to me. But that is only based on my experience. You can adjust your days later on so if you want to start today, you could always move it to a Thursday in the future.

Gettingslimmer · 11/01/2025 08:59

Oh my op. Now you’re in to which day.

if you want to do this and have decided, then do it. If you still don’t then don’t. And fundamentally you post like you’ve no desire to do this at all.

Which means she can do it now, not wait another week.

I'd go for it. My only regret was not starting earlier. I lost a stone in my first month by comparison- think how much better you'll feel by mid February if you did the same. Everybody feels apprehensive to start which is totally understandable, but honestly you'll be fine, and there's nothing to stay you'll get any side effects at all.
Good luck!!

LookAfterMyHeart · 11/01/2025 10:24

Just start!

I've had no side effects whatsoever and just feel fab! You might be better the same.

There is always a reason to postpone things.

Just start it now!...

VelvetWildflower · 11/01/2025 10:46

There's always an excuse not to start. If you're serious, just start.

morbidcuriosity · 11/01/2025 10:53

Start Now!! Wish I had started sooner.. I didn't know about the drugs but as soon as I found out about them I started..
No side effects that would change my days. Bit of constipation a few times near the beginning but easily sorted with OTT meds.
If you are really worried then start on half a dose. Me personally though I did 5 dose of 2.5 then moved to 5mg, stayed on there for 2 pens, now im on my 2nd pen of 7.5mg.

myladyjane · 12/01/2025 22:07

Ok so I have ordered today. Found it very scary tbh but not as scary as it will be for the medexpress person who sees my photo. I had taken an ok one but it wouldn't upload so I just got out of bed and pulled on some tightish joggers. Hair scraped back. Rancid pj top. The best I can say was I'd just had a bath so at least I am clean....
