Can’t stop throwing up

I started Mounjaro last Monday. All was well and I experienced only minimal side effects. However, I took my 2nd jab last night and can’t stop vomiting. Just wondering if anyone else had this on 2.5 after the 2nd jab?? And if so were you ok for later jabs. TIA

There's a lot of noro/sickness bugs going round, it could be that and not related to the MJ.

Gettingslimmer · 07/01/2025 09:41

Are you sure it’s the jab. Not a bug? Non stop bomiting is unusual.

startingagain17 · 07/01/2025 09:50

its not like normal buggy vomiting, where you get stomach cramps and long waves of nausea. It’s very fast and I’m fine seconds before I vomit. But then it’s mayhem for a few minutes. Sorry TMI

Is it after eating?

Is it after eating?

No. It was before breakfast. I had a couple of cups of tea and a glucose tablet to see if it was just low blood sugar. I am currently sipping a Lucosade Sport and feel a little better

It’s just strange as during my first week I was fine, just colder than normal

Did you inject into your stomach or thigh? I would try thigh if you are getting these side effects. Hope you feel better soon x

Totaleclipseofthemind · 07/01/2025 10:13

It is still early days. Keep monitoring it.

startingagain17 · 07/01/2025 10:47

I did inject my thigh. Feel better now. I wonder if it was the blood sugar? I know it can take a while for glucose to kick in. It was just crazy as I had so few side effects last week. Not even that much suppression.

I have been on Mounjaro since June and have had 3 separate episodes (lasting a couple of days each on and off) like this with no real pattern to it. First one was by far the worst. I persevered through them though as it is really working for me and so seems a worthwhile process to pay!

BackToWegovy · 07/01/2025 11:39

Second week of a new dose, day after the injection, before breakfast - classic timing for me for the odd occasions I have been sick. How long did it last? Hopefully you are over the worst of it. Remember the amount of the drug in your system is higher than it was this time last week because you still have a bit left from week one.

Pyjamatimenow · 07/01/2025 11:55

It can build up in your system. I got all the way to 15mg and then after a month of being fine on 15mg I had stomach issues. Went back to 12.5 and I’m still having issues.

MJ has a half life so after your 1st dose you would still have had 1.25mg in your system when you took the 2nd dose. So probably the build up in your system. You should be fine in a day or two. Just make sure you keep on top of constipation etc so things are moving. Hopefully you will be ok and used to the meds for you third dose.

So 5 , 10 and 15 are the therapeutic doses, they say your optimal dose is the one below that which you can’t tolerate, so for you I’d move to ten.

Oh interesting. Yes I’m going to move down to 10mg next month I think. Thank you

Can you explain this please? Is 12.5 not therapeutic? I am on 12.5 and hadn’t thought of moving up to 15 yet but your post has made me pause.

Dunkou · 07/01/2025 22:29

@Gettingslimmer that doesn't make any sense. 2.5 is surely the only non-therapeutic dose, because it is low.

No, you can google, most suppliers also explain it, none of the half doses are considered therapeautic. 5/10/15 are the doses, the half doses are just to help you move up a dose.

Dunkou · 08/01/2025 08:43

@Gettingslimmer I just googled. 5,10,15 are the authorised maintenance doses. The inbetween doses are seen as 'step-ups'. They are still therapeutic.

Were you maybe reading some pharmacy or supermarket?

Dunkou · 08/01/2025 10:02

The half doses are therapeutic except 2.5. The drug developer had to make a schedule for approval. It doesn't mean it fits every single person. People tweak their doses to all kinds of in between levels and they still work. It's the same formulation in each pen but different strengths there is nothing radically different in the half doses.
