Should I stop

I'm only on jab 2 day 4 and I have already lost 9lbs. However the last 3 days/nights I have diarrhoea. Getting really concerned now and I feel awful 😭. Thought it would pass but iv woken up every 2 hours tnyt and had to go toilet. My next jab is Thursday and quite frankly I don't want to do it. I'm so put off by this diarrhoea. Did anyone stop because of this , I don't want it making me ill/dehydrated.

Iv had medication and rehydration sachets

Diarrhea is a common side effect while you're getting used to the medication. However if it's unbearable then you should probably stop.

Shrinkingrose · 07/01/2025 06:53

Can I ask what you’re eating please?

generally you need to eat clean. Your prescriber should have given nutritional information.

so no added fats be it in cooking or mayo, no sugary foods, nothing overly carbs, but lots of veg, fruit, lean proteins, salads.

if you’re doing this, then yes I’d stop. If not, I’d do that and continue to see if it was diet or the drug.

Hello, I had this on my first week of MJ. I had to take time off work and Imodium was ineffectual. I decided to half my second dose to 1.25 (30 clicks) and it was so much better in the second week. I continued without side effects on 1.25 for weeks. I go up when I feel suppression lifts and only by 10 clicks a time. I’m on about week 16 and only just nudging over 3.7. I’ve lost over 32 pounds so it still works for me.

I know you asked if anyone stopped because of it but I thought I’d offer my experience in case it is helpful to you. I really hope you feel better soon as it’s miserable!

Did you get much suppression on 1.25? I'm considering doing the same. I've had 2 doses, 2.5, then I went down to 2. The side-effects were too much again (nausea and insomnia) so am considering dropping down more.

Am eating clean, following all advice etc but I don't want to spend a day a week laid up feeling ill.

letshavetea · 07/01/2025 07:20

it’s not nice. A lot of us have some side effects on starting MJ. For me it was constipation and nausea/ heartburn. I’ve gone up the doses very slowly and have focussed on clean eating with no upf’s as @Shrinkingrose has said. Make sure you drink plenty of water and have fibre in your diet. I also think if you join a monthly thread (for you I guess it would be either December or January) and Continuing Mounjaro you’d get a lot of support there. Finally, please contact your provider to discuss how you’re feeling as only they will know any other conditions you might have and can advise based on your individual needs.

@Shrinkingrose I'm eating clean as far as I'm aware. I have omelette in the morning or oats, I had small bowl of rice with a chicken sauce I made using peppers and tomatoes. I had an orange some dates, bit of a protein yoghurt. And then a tiny plate of daal (lentil curry). All small portions but trying to actually eat.

In the curry I do use cooking oil at the beginning to fry onions- surely it can't be that.? I feel like it might be the white rice setting me off as even before MJ I used to get bloated with white rice.

What are you eating OP?

sigm · 07/01/2025 10:02

@Seldomseenkid I was thinking of doing this as suppression is fine on 2.5mg even on day 5. Last week I didn't have diarrhoea but got bad trapped wind and sulphur burps for 2/3 days- I was able to manage that.

I don't have nausea or cramps or sickness. Literally just watery diarrhoea (sorry tmi) so it must something I'm eating. I'm not eating carbs much, and I wanted to eat my curries cos if I make too many changes and not eat my usual diet then when I stop MJ I feel like it wont be sustainable for me, does that make sense. Wonder if it's the cooking oil in the curry.

I tried my mums age old treatment for the diarrhoea (a spoon of dried coriander powder) and it worked in stopping it for now

@Seldomseenkid only problem with this is, wouldn't the pen last longer than 30 days as ure halving the dose?

OP posts:
thecoffeeowl · 07/01/2025 10:29

I’ve had some experience with stress related IBS-D and there are some triggers in the foods you’ve eaten. Lentils, dates and even tomatoes can go straight through you even in quite small
amounts if your body is stressed enough. Can you swap out some of those ingredients?

Seldomseenkid · 07/01/2025 11:59

I did get suppression on 1.25, not total suppression but by far enough to maintain healthy portion control and no snacking. I was hungry when it was time to eat but not ravenous.

I did forfeit pens though. I had more doses left at the end of the month that went in the bin. Now at least I get a 5th dose but yes some remains. It works for me at a lower dose and with no side effects so I just had to accept I have leftovers. I’d probably pay the same for a pen that was made of 1.25 doses if it existed as I have for 2.5 and 5 pens anyway.

Dunkou · 07/01/2025 12:12

@Seldomseenkid thanks for the insight, I think I will give it a go. My appetite is suppressed on 2 and 2.5 but I'm nauseous so am constantly casting around for food to eat to stop the nausea. So very much 'food noise' going on but for a different reason.

OP - I've read other threads about foods that cause GI problems with MJ. Tomatoes, spice and onion feature in your list of what you are eating.

sigm · 07/01/2025 15:36

It's settled today, as it's day 5 so effect must be waning. But such awful side effects that it makes me want to stop as I feel like am I torturing myself!

Iv had different side effects both weeks, let's see what week 3 brings on Thursdays jab. Going on holiday next Thursday for the weekend so will have to delay the 4th one as I'm not having the chits on holiday, can you imagine 😭

I am concerned about that too, and if you don't need to order for longer than 5 weeks won't the supplier think you have taken a break and want to start you on the lowest dose again?

Seldomseenkid · 07/01/2025 21:16

Boots email me about 2.5 weeks before my next one is due. So I collect it about 10
days before the end of week 4 and keep it until required. You can check the expiration date and they are fine in the fridge until
needed.

You can’t do much about the excess amount, other than a ‘bonus’ dose, so yes there’s always some left in a pen which goes in the bin.

Seldomseenkid · 07/01/2025 21:18

Boots also ask what dose I want, they don’t just move you up every 4 weeks. So I was on 2.5 for about 10 weeks before moving to a 5 pen, of which I administered from 2.5 to about 3.7 over a 6 week period.

Demjay · 07/01/2025 21:25

I had absolutely awful diarrhoea starting week 3. Worst I’ve ever had in my life. I can’t remember how many weeks I got that side effect for, but the first week I got it, it was the worst. I’m now on week 12 and it’s been weeks since I had any at all. So it does settle if you can stand to pull through.

crumbsonmyface · 07/01/2025 22:35

@Seldomseenkid - nice to hear about your progress! Was just going to say your posts back in October encouraged me to do a 1.25mg dose, and it's been so much more manageable. I'm about to go up to 2mg (50 clicks) after slowly titrating up the last 13 weeks. Currently lost 19lb, so glad I stuck with it. Thank you!!

sigm · 07/01/2025 22:49

@Seldomseenkid makes sense, if it works why not.

Day 5 and from 2pm onwards I'm literally perfectly fine like I hadn't been struggling with diarrhoea for the last 3 days. It's a crazy rollercoaster this, I'm so ready to give up and think doing this to myself isn't worth it but then when there are no side effects but I'm still eating less and going to the gym I'm so positive that I can do this. I suppose have to take it a week at a time. I'm going to eat bland af food the first 4 days after jab day iv decided
