My pen should be delivered today so we will be jabbing on the same day ☺️
9 pounds is amazing! I'd be so happy with loosing even half of that in the first week!

Newshoesnewname · 22/01/2025 07:41

Well done, that's a good loss👏

Chylde · 22/01/2025 08:12

So I am taking my first injection today, do I need to connect to shemed or do anything before I inject myself?

supercatlady · 22/01/2025 10:19

@Kebabo your weight loss is great!
Are you following a diet plan alongside the jabs?

Kebabo · 22/01/2025 12:48

I'm eating lots of protein and drinking fo Britain. Just cut out the rubbish.

Kebabo · 22/01/2025 12:50

Yes, go into the SheMed app. Click on checking and it will connect you to someone. You will need ID and scales

I’m finally at the point where I’m just waiting for the pen to arrive. It’s due 23rd but I suspect it may be 24th when it arrives. No problem as I intend to make Friday my injection day anyhow.
Due to weather (snow) affecting post when I was wanting to do bloods, I’ve been in my preparatory eating mode since about middle of the first week of Jan and have actually lost 4.1kg as of this morning so hoping that continuing to achieve a loss will become easier with MJ because I nearly ate a tonne of calories yesterday due to snacking on cashew nuts mindlessly. I’m quite hungry much of the time while in calorie defect so am hoping MJ will make this less noticeable as I know, like usual, I will stop tracking and revert back to careless eating otherwise. Still need to increase protein as I’m just not hitting my macros targets for protein despite trying. The one day I did, my calories were over.
note to self: must learn to not need a carb with protein. Just can’t get my head around dipping things other than toast soldiers in boiled eggs and not having other proteins sandwiched between two slices of bread!

TheGladLilacDuck · 22/01/2025 19:07

Anyone know if I can do the jab and check in separately? As I don't want to do it on the call of i can avoid it

Kebabo · 22/01/2025 20:54

They ask if you want to stay on the line whilst you inject but I don't. Can do it after.

Hi, just wanted to share my journey so far, so i signed up, paid the £49 for the test kit, arrived in a few days, did it, so easy and the lady on the other end was so nice and helpful giving instructions on how to take the painless blood test. Then sent in my blood sample the same day and received my results on the app about 4 business days after. Then the following day my bank notified me the £99 had been deducted from my account. I was a bit surprised because I didn't receive any notification on the app or email to say I was accepted on the program, the only abnormality on my blood results was low HDL cholesterol. After that they shipped it and I got the jab in about 3 days, so today in the morning I had to contact them through the app and also very helpful in telling me what to do, so as soon as I hanged up with the lady I injected the first dose on my stomach, some of it came out as I pulled upwards a bit at the end but I think it should be OK, also painless as the needle is so thin. By the way I didn't expect to have to weight myself again this time, I thought the call was just to tell me how to inject myself, but anyways. Have felt OK the whole day, I did get hungry after a few hours like really hungry so I had some chicken soup for lunch then I was OK, the rest of the day I was fine, but I was surprised I was full with only 3 slices of pizza and please we listen we don't judge lol I had cooked a new dish but i messed it up because I added too much water so my sister ended up ordering pizza for everybody and I live in her house so that was the only fast thing to eat at the time. Anyways will keep on posting how I feel by the end of the week, I really hope I don't get nauseous, I hate the feeling, I forgot to mention when I received the jab I was surprised because they included 4 boxes of medicine for heartburn, diarrhea, constipation and trapped gas (I thought oh how considerate of them, they also sent a needle disposable bin). So yeah so far so good 😁👍.

Sorry, another question. Has anyone been asked to measure themselves on the blood test call? Notes say you need to have a tape measure!?

No, so far it has only been weighing myself and I had to show them the actual scale, it gets recorded on the app and on the app there's no field for measurements so I think they only measure the weight

kittykarate · 23/01/2025 13:42

I've never been asked to measure anything with a tape, not even my height.

I wonder if it was there either
a) to check if you were eligible for mounjaro? So if you looked slim on your first call, they would ask you to prove your height and weight to check you were an unhealthy BMI first.
b) future functionality?

Postslikethese · 23/01/2025 18:03

I did my blood test this morning. Left the thing on for 5 minutes as instructed but for some reason, it only half filled up... I hope I got enough 🤦🏼‍♀️

I think it's mainly to check if the person who ordered the blood test is the one taking it, because first you show your ID, your face then your weight, then they help you with instructions on how to take the blood sample. At least that's my impression of why they do the camera check.

W1D1. I jabbed at 3pm. Had a healthy tea, salmon, veg and brown rice. I'm still thinking about food! 😂.

Obviously not instant. I'm managing to resist as my tummy is gurgling a bit and I'm worried about the potential side effects!

Ahardyfool · 25/01/2025 01:53

First dose today. Did the call and took the injection by 15:30. Had supper by about 7pm. I deliberately ate a small portion (turkey meat balls with avocado, red pepper, tomatoes, black beans and brown and wild rice on the side). I can’t tell if my extreme paranoia about side effects caused me to eat only the meatballs (didn’t like them much, only bought as part of my lean protein effort) and avocado and about two forkfuls of the rice and black beans. Anyway, a smaller than usual portion was consumed and unlike all the other nights this month where I sat down in the evening thinking about sweet things ‘to finish off the meal’ and listened to my empty stomach gurgling relentlessly, instead I felt full and fairly appetite content.

i would not really describe what I’d envisaged as ‘suppression’ but perhaps the edge has been taken off any hunger or cravings.
Interested to see what tomorrow brings. I’ve already said to DP that if I wake up feeling nauseous or sick, he absolutely must go on a mercy dash to the chemist to get me sea bands and anti sickness meds as I dread this.

For anyone wanting to know about the injection… the setting up is complicated (it’s actually not, but my hatred of instructions left me feeling confused despite having a helper on the other end of the SheMed line), but the injecting part is 100% pain free. They said the blood taking Tasso device was pain free. It is not, that hurt a teeny bit. The MJ pen however is definitely completely pain free. You wouldn’t believe you were sticking a needle in if you were not doing it. That was a relief. Quite unexpected too.

Am awake and typing this as needed to have my night time pee much earlier than usual so that’s perhaps a side effect..,

Thanks OP, I'm curious to see how this goes. I saw a few posters on the January start thread that said they joined Shemed and I was wondering how it all works. I'm not interested in it as I'm already well into my MJ jabs (and I wouldn't go for a subscription service like theirs anyway - just me personally) but I don't mind reading your updates.

I started Shemed this week, so far the journey has been painless. had no side effects.
a couple of tips warm your arm before you do your blood test it makes the blood flow much easier. once you get accepted it may take a couple of days to receive an email saying the package is being sent. happy to answer any questions.

Nikki2409 · 26/01/2025 16:47

Hi, im seriously considering starting shemed but im on the contraceptive pill and heard that MJ can reduced the effect of the pill?

@BestDIL are you still side effect free? I have only noticed being very thirsty but I kinda was before injecting as have been in a big deficit in the lead up. The plus side of this being that it’s making me drink plenty. I had lots of gurgling in my tummy at the very start but so far successful 💩ing 🤣 so I guess that’s the right thing to keep on doing.

I am praying that I don’t get nausea. Stocked up with sea bands in case. The pharmacist wouldn’t sell me anti sickness meds so that was slightly worrying as I prefer to be prepared.

Appetite still there but empty stomach feeling gone, so managing to stay under cals for the day so much more easily than the last few weeks.

BestDIL · 26/01/2025 17:59

@Ahardyfool
Yes still side effect free. Like you a little gurgling and a slight headache. A teeny tiny bit of indigestion after eating but not enough to merit Rennie. Like you 💩 all normal.

As for food can't believe how little I'm eating in comparison. Having to force myself to finish a small amount of food which is just not me at all.

I'm so happy I decided to do this and I can't wait to see the results!!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/01/2025 19:08

About to take second jab.... why am
I so bloody nervous again?!
Reading about others with side effects week 2 has spooked me a bit. I did ok week 1 so...

Hoping this gets less of a 'thing' as the weeks go on.

Hope you are all doing well and good luck to weekend jabbers for tomorrow.

Kebabo · 26/01/2025 20:16

Hi all. Had my second jab Wednesday. No side effects other than I literally can not finish my meal. So stuffed, no where for food to go. Dare not force feed! Loving life!

Kebabo · 28/01/2025 18:58

Been quiet as nothing much to report. Weigh in and jab tomorrow. No idea what I weigh, excited and scared to step on the scales. Slightly constipated, nothing bad. No food noise, no desire to binge. Happy!
