Hi all
5 weeks in and second week on 5mg. No side effects or food noise. Eating well.
SW 18 St 9 lbs
Wk 1 17 St 11lbs
Wk 2 17 St 5lbs
Wk 3 17st 1.8lbs
Wk 4 16 St 13
Wk 5 16st 7.4
Total loss in 5 weeks is 2 St 1.6lbs
Loving it!
Good luck everyone

This is astonishing. How many calories are you averaging each day and how much water? Is there anything that you have completely cut out. I am due a weigh in tomorrow. Last week I went up 1 lb and so far this week, I’ve not lost anything. Obviously I am doing something wrong but can’t figure out what. I have diarised my food this week and looking back it’s all healthy and well under my recommended 1700 calorie limit. I have had plenty of water too. I also walk the dog everyday for about 30 minutes at a brisk pace which is more than I used to do. These are my stats:
SW 15st 10.6lbs
wk1 15st 5lbs
wk2 14st 11lbs
wk3 14st 12lbs
wk4 (so far) 14st 12lbs

total loss 12.6lbs which is still good but it’s slightly demoralising to have plateaued so early!

anyone have any suggestions for me?x

I am due to take my dose today, but I took my pen out if the box to put in the fridge and now I can't find my box anywhere ... is there anywhere else the QR code can be found so I can complete my weekly check in and injection?

Food noise is basically that little voice in your head that is permanently chattering about food, telling you it would be sad to waste that leftover bit of toast and that grabbing a biscuit with your cuppa would be great.

Thank you for clarifying that for me 👍

kittykarate · 19/02/2025 09:33

I can say one thing for sure, while Mounjaro has reduced my food noise, it most definitely has not reduced my tummy gurgles!

I remember reading someone else had done this. I think there is a code on the pen they can use instead.

Hi all, been a lurker & joined mumsnet to post re this.
I’ve also joined in jan, seemed like a good offer & worth a try.
I’ve not had any noticeable side affects other than feeling really cold in the evening of the first two jabs (and have made a conscious effort to wear warmer clothes/ boost heating since)
i’m going up to 5mg this week when I jab, and have definitely noticed a bit of craving this week that’s been otherwise absent since starting.
My q is really about anyone who has had side affects, because I’m a little confused by my lack of them. I’ve been out two weeks in a row to tapas restaurants mid week (with work and friends) and frankly both nights I had a bit of everything. Like every single dish. I maybe limited the amount vs pre mounjaro I’d eat. But I didn’t skip any dishes, including the fatty/greasy ones that I was terrified were going to give me some form of upset (from the warnings pre starting) but both times I was completely fine, both after the meal, and the next day. The only thing I can think I limited was drinking wine slower? But I’m confused as to what might trigger side affects. Honestly if I had some I’d probably be better at not trying every single fish next time ?!

is it just still being on a low dose? Or not close to jab day? (5 days after both times) or just being ‘good’ with this medication?

any thoughts appreciated!

I should probably add that no I don’t eat like that all the time, and yes I’ve been comfortably loosing weight so far, 4 or 5lbs every week consistently since starting.

Just not really sure when/what would trigger side affects?

kittykarate · 19/02/2025 16:46

Hi @GoldLeader, I think side effects are so personal in the triggers.

For 6 weeks I had no problems really and basically ate the same crap but less of it, my only side effect was feeling cold the day after my jab. Then last week my terrible times could be caused by any or all of the following being different to the normal

  • too much exercise/activity
  • too strong Finnish coffee
  • orange juice at breakfast
  • slightly larger meals.

I find that drinking more than 2 glasses of wine makes me vulnerable to indigestion, generally. I can't drink as much beer as I used to as I get gassy.

As the dose increases, I think the side effects can get more pronounced - I have a colleague who has been on it since last May, and he jokingly says that after 7.5mg he never dared fart again.

BestDIL · 19/02/2025 18:54

I have found the only side effects are a headache 1-2 hours after injecting and indigestion if I eat a little too much.

I have been calorie counting, ensuring that I have protein each day. I haven't eaten out but have had the odd packet of crisps but only if I had enough calories left in the day.

💩 completely normal and no bad farts 😂. Earlier this week my stomach was making hunger gurgle noises but I didn't feel hungry. Is a weird feeling!

Tomorrow is my first 5mg jab so it'll be interesting to see the difference on appetite and side effects. I'll update once I know.

Can I suggest that we start taking measurements too as I think sometimes we forget that 'loss' isnt just weight it is also in clothes measurements. I am on week 3 and stupidly forgot the first 2 times, but I am doing it for my next dose, just for my own notes. I have noticed that I get indigestion easily now and have had to take antacid/gaviscon liquid most days now.

The food noise for me is in the evening, if I am watching TV or studying/reading. Its an awful habit that I had/have - snacking for many years. It needs to stop, just not sure how to do it. Its been ever since I stopped smoking it got worse.

Oh yes, evenings are the worst for me too. I stopped smoking 15 years ago so have 15 years of evening snacks to battle against. The first three weeks on 2.5mg and I didn’t want anything but it’s been really hard this last week. Hoping that 5mg stops the evening snack noise.

I took my waist measurement last week for the first time but looking back at some old photos was therapeutic too. I can see how much weight I have lost. Although one been on MJ for a month, my clothes are looser.

Before this I had six months using SlimPod (sort of like hypnotherapy) which got 1 stone off, then 12 months on orlistat which got rid of another stone but I started skipping the tablets so that was NBG. Love that once I’m jabbed, there is no avoiding it - it’s in my system and that’s it.

Hello MJ family,

I'm a newbie user on first set of pens.

I’m going on holiday for a week at the end of the month & I’ll do my 4th jab whilst I’m away.
I understand there’s a questionnaire on wk 3 & then the next lot of jabs get sent out.
I’m wondering about time frames here as I go away 2 days after 3rd check in & don’t want my delivery sitting on my doorstep whilst I’m away.

Can the questionnaire be filled in later than 3rd check in?
Whats the current time frame after submitting the questionnaire & receiving delivery of the next set of pens?

Hi @Beverbee I've just looked on my app. I filled in the questionnaire on 12/2, the prescription was issued on 15/5 and was delivered on 17/2. Hope that helps. I don't know whether you can delay the questionnaire by a few days.

Don't forget that you will need to check in whilst you are away and they will want to see your weight. Take your scales with you!! If you are going aboard, I saw there were some lightweight ones on Amazon.

Beverbee · 20/02/2025 15:54

@BestDIL
Thank you for sharing the timing. I’ll go back to the calendar & see how that works. Failing that I’ll have to try & speak to them about it next week when I check in. I say try & ask them as they’re very swift on the call 😜

I have some travel scales in my Amazon basket waiting for pay day 😊

B x

kittykarate · 20/02/2025 16:47

I've just done an 'on holiday' checkin last week - they seem to have got the message that you may not have access to scales, so you can verbally give your weight. I had used the app to log a weigh in on my scales just before I went on holiday, so just verbally gave that number.

They have definitely improved this since the start of the programme - the operators seem a lot more accommodating.

CountryShepherd · 20/02/2025 18:01

I'm going to brave it tomorrow morning!! Don't know why I'm so nervous!

Reginaphalangeeeee · 20/02/2025 19:42

Still finding it hard to consider ultimate goal weight.
I think I am scared of setting the bar too high and failing.

I started 136kg and now just 5 weeks later I have lost 20lbs but it is not noticeable.

If I could do the same amount again that would be 118kg which would take me back to weight 3 years ago and being under 120 seems symbolic.
I know weight loss will slow, how far into the journey does this happen?
I guess I thought 1.5 stone would have made more of a difference to how I look or clothes I can wear 🤷‍♀️
I don't think my waist/chest measurement are that accurate really but ofcourse gone down.

I have marker of 107 kg before I was pregnant first time and 'being under 100kg' and 88kg when I got married as mini goals but I guess I am starting to think about how long these miles stones will take and where I will be happy.

GoldLeader · 21/02/2025 15:50

Thanks @BestDIL @kittykarate i guess I’ll see with 5mg if things start too change. Interestingly with you list I had stopped coffee and OJ as I had heard they could be triggers and they were things I would occasionally have pre MJ that I figured would be good to just avoid ‘in case’.
i’m tempted to try them in the safe environment of WFH so I don’t get caught somewhere that doesn’t have tea (my go to drink) and have coffee/or OJ and it all go drastically wrong 😂

Got to say this week as the final 2.5 has been a struggle it’s the first time since starting I’ve had serious cravings. I caved and ate a packet of crisps last night, they were free at work weeks ago and have been sat in my work bag unopened, until last night I was genuinely roaming my house needing to find something to deal with the ‘crave monster’

5mg today, thank god! Hoping for the noise to ease again.

GoldLeader · 21/02/2025 15:55

Re goal weight, yeah I’ve been debating this.
My initial BMI was 40. And tipping over to ‘off the bmi scale’ on most charts is probably what prompted me to try MJ in the new year.

but I don’t really know what’s a ‘realistic’ target to get to. The obvious answer would be a bmi of 25 ie ‘healthy’ but I don’t think they even let you stay in MJ past 30? (I don’t have any other health conditions for the 27 bmi MJ threshold)

so does that mean I should target a bmi of 30? Or is that delusional and pick a target somewhere in the middle? I’m already down to 38 in 4 weeks, but assume that will massively slow down.

need a goal setting guide!

kittykarate · 21/02/2025 16:16

Hi GoldLeader - it depends on your provider I think for the 'cut off'. Those figures you quote (BMI 30/BMI 27with health conditions) is for people who are new starters as they don't want people close to healthy weight starting on the medication. I think Oushk is BMI 23 cut off (reading on other threads).

kittykarate · 21/02/2025 16:20

And goal setting? That's a tricky question. My goal is to be between 25 and 30 BMI. I have been that weight before, and I felt good in myself.
