I gave signed up and am now waiting for the blood test to arrive. I'll post updates on here so you will know if it is reputable or not. Hope it will help others.

Hi all. First jab of 5mg done. Lost 1.3kg. Happy as that brings my total to 10.9kg or 1stone 10lbs in 4 weeks. Have definitely lost inches this week. Hopefully I'll remain side effect free on this higher dose. Good luck everyone.

Thank you, may I ask when you did your bloods? I am just wondering if it's towards the end of January sign ups that have the huge hold up

I did my blood test on 31st Jan but was told to keep it in a cool place over the weekend and NOT to post it off until Monday 3rd Feb - presumably so it wasn't sitting somewhere in the mail getting warm over the weekend. So I put it in the post first thing on 3rd.
I received the SheMed welcome email on 6th Feb and received delivery of my first pen on 7th Feb.

Margo84 · 12/02/2025 07:29

Thank you guys for the update, it would appear mine has been delayed for some reason, and that actually the contact I've had when I've messaged has been gap fillers and incorrect as I was told I was accepted and that the medication was with the pharmacy. Yet still no update on app, or email or dispatch notice its been over 2 weeks 😢

I'm so pleased your all starting your journey and getting results I shall keep my fingers crossed to start mine soon

@Kebabo if you don't mind me asking, how much have you got to lose? Your start has been incredible. Mine was 5.5lbs in first week, then 2 last week and looks like just 1.5 this week. Slow and steady so not too concerned, as we have a year to do this.

@Shazzabelle is there any reason you would prefer the 4 weekly check-in? I have always found when dieting and doing SW or WW, that the weekly weigh-in kept me focussed. That will be harder to do on this I would imagine. I don't know if the weekly check-ins are forced on the normal weighloss plan with SheMed but I think this is part of the study to see the rate of loss and the impact on health etc.

Meanwhile, I spoke to someone at SheMed yesterday, my app is still showing that I have 5 doses but take my last one tomorrow. I'm quite anxious that I won't get my next pen in time for next week - quite irrational probably but I really don't want to have a break. SheMed assured me that the app would be updated but it's still showing! Anyone else have this?

Hi the reason I don't like weekly weighing is it can make you despondent/demotivated if you don't see numbers you want your weight on scales fluctuates with so many different things , that's why I would prefer 4 weekly then get a better perspective , just a personal thing to me .
I realise it's part of the study and cause we are getting the jags at this price it seemed worth it to me to go ahead

Chylde · 12/02/2025 14:57

I just had my last dose of my first pen, im not using the 'golden dose'ass I don't agree with messing with prescribed medicines (each to their own)
Where does everyone dispose of their pens? Feels wrong putting it in the normal trash with medicine still inside?

Aah, right, I get that actually. Every 4 weeks, you will see a bigger number on the scales. I weigh every morning as I find it keeps me motivated. Before MJ, if I didn't step on the scales daily, I went weeks without and then would step on the scales to another fairly hefty increase!

I'm not going to use the golden dose either - unless I don't get my new pen in time (see previous post on that). I've just done a quick google search and it can go in the sharps bin (if it will fit) or general household waste. I got a medicine bottle for my sharps bin so no hope of that for me. The sharps bin will be accepted at some pharmacies. I'm just looking at the glass and plastic and am disappointed that it isn't accepted for recycling somwhere.

Yeah my sharps bin is a tiny one, think I'll wrap in newspaper and put in normal bin, strange there is no advise for this lol

Can you explain 'golden dose'? Do you mean there are 5 doses in the pen, not 4?

meatyryvita · 12/02/2025 16:29

Yes, mine was the same too. The app then updated a day or so later.

Some people break their pens or use needles to draw out what is left of the prime liquid in the pen. Personally I wouldn't as its not prescribed and has been known to make some people poorly.

supercatlady · 12/02/2025 18:10

App now updated, mj pen will arrive Friday. Happy Valentine’s Day to me 😊

Well you're off to a great start. Let's hope you get some more great losses.

Thankfully the app has updated and I've just filled in the questionnaire so expect to be starting 5mg next week. 4th jab tomorrow morning. Not expecting a great loss this week. I'm at 13.6lbs loss but I had to change scales as my old ones broke and I know there is a disparity of around 3lbs with the new ones weighing lighter than old. This no I'll be 1-2lbs this week. I check in first thing in my pj's as they are nice and lightweight Wink

BestDIL · 13/02/2025 09:10

Well, I've been doing something wrong this week but I'm scratching my head as to what. I put 1lb on! My scales were playing up this morning so that could be it. I'm going to have to buy some new ones as both sets that I have are duff!

I've eaten healthily this week and kept to around 1,500 cals a day. I'm going to start using the NHS Weightloss app to track all my food, just in case. The only thing I can think of is that maybe I've not had enough fluid.

Last 2.5mg dose this morning. Looking forward to moving up to 5mg next week x

Kebabo · 13/02/2025 12:48

Just to reassure some, I started 5mg jab yesterday, still no nasty side effects, not even a mark where injected

This injection lark gets easier, doesn't it. I remember the first time being stupidly nervous that it would hurt. Didn't even feel it. The needle is so small isn't it?

Shazzabelle · 13/02/2025 17:07

@BestDIL I just think bodies fluctuate ( that's why I don't like weekly weighing) could be any number of things and not anything you have done wrong necessarily. Forget it and next week am sure it will show with your loss

Beverbee · 13/02/2025 17:54

The postman arrived about an hour ago. I’ve read everything, checked in & am over the hurdle of doing the 1st dose.
Everything crossed for no side effects. I drank loads today & have had small meals in preparation of its arrival & avoiding tummy issues.
I’m officially on the journey!
