Boots Reviews

Hi all. I have just submitted my questionnaire to hopefully be approved for Mounjaro from Boots. I was wondering if anyone uses them and can give a bit of a review? Do you get needles? How long does it normally take from approval to picking up the first pen?

TIA

Never used Boots, but every supplier will and should supply needles, as the medication is not usable unless you have them.

I started with Boots about a month ago. Process fairly straightforward, the first order took awhile to come through. I chose them as, although not the cheapest, they will deliver to a local Boots pharmacy where I can pick up in person rather then home delivery. Yes, the needles came with the pen, but I would always ask on pickup incase inadvertently left out.
complete process took about a week to be approved, then about 4-5 days for pen ready to collect. Just taken delivery of second pen, took 3-4 days to arrive after ordering.

I’ve used them since August for Mounjaro and they have been really easy. I sent them an email yesterday (after my third dose) for a repeat and it will be in the pharmacy within four days. They send me a text to collect. I know that they are more expensive than others but I use them because to me they are a trusted brand and I know that the prescription will have been kept in the right conditions until I collect it. You get a reminder to put in your next order and you just answer a few questions. If you don’t want to increase your dose you just send an email confirming that everything is ok and they issue you a repeat order with no hassle.

I used mail order suppliers when Bach I was on Ozempic before and had a few deliveries over the summer of 2023 where the pens arrived at room temperature or at least not cold. There was no recourse and I felt that I was taking a risk to my health by administering them.

You get four needles and a sharps box with your order. You can order needles online from Amazon if you need some spare.

As an aside….If you have a Boots Advantage Card you can add offers to increase your points and take advantage of the extra spending. I’ve made about £70 in the last few months on my card.

I haven't seen a supplier that doesn't provide needles (unless NHS and Dr forgot to prescribe separately).

Some only provide 4 needles for 4 injections, so if you only get 4 it is worth asking for or buying spares in case you get faulty needles or want to use the spare liquid as a 5th dose.

Some also don't provide alcohol swabs (instructions are to clean seal on pen each time before using) so you might need to buy some.

I use Boots and my pen didn’t arrive with needles - I had to purchase those separately. I assume it was a mistake but it didn’t bother me much. I chose them, like another PP said, because they are a trusted brand and I assume they’ll be less likely to mess up the pens themselves.
