Can you move back down if your suppression is better on 2.5 and not 5mg

Yes you can

It won't get better having a smaller dose, when you started on it, it was a new drug so 2.5mg was a big change to your body. Now you are more used to it, you are tolerating it, so you should go up a dose until you reach your effective dose for suppression amd weight loss. Everytime I've gone up my suppression has been better until it isn't then it's time to go up. On 5mg full suppression lasted 7 weeks for me. If someone is bigger or diabetic, they would need a higher dose.

'Suppression' is actually a side effect. It isn't the aim of the drug, and it will wear off after a while. It is the effect that gets touted the most by internet users who are at the start of their journey and often competitively undereating, and of course it is courted by those who are one step away from an eating disorder. Aiming for no appetite at all will leave you sick & exhausted and at the mercy of some really unpleasant side effects.

Many people never experience much suppression at all, but nevertheless will lose weight just the same.

The drug works by increasing satiety - that is, you should feel hungry at mealtimes, be able to eat a healthy, nutrient dense, calorie counted meal and feel full and satisfied afterwards, with no need to eat more than that. It also works by acting on the mechanisms that cause bingeing/cravings/overeating and the use of food as a reward system. When that starts to wane, then is the time to step up a dose.

@IrisPallida I know what it means all i was saying it that it wasn't as much as 2.5 I'm 52 so I think I know how to eat sensibly I won't end up with an eating disorder

@IrisPallida thanks that makes sense , I'm literally 2 days into the first 2.5mg jab and for the first 2 days I felt sickly and didn't want to eat anything at all. Today iv eaten but not as much but I'm also thinking about food- I thought it was meant to decrease the food noise? Doesn't mean I'm going to eat loads and snack though. I keep wanting something sweet, it could be because I came on yday, I always want something sweet when I'm on

Yes of course, although doubtful it will have any impact now, as your body now tolerates, compared to when it was first introduced. 2.5 is just initiate treatment, You’re supposed to move up to find your optimal dose where it never wears off and stay there.

how long have you taken 5mg for?

murraymcgill · 29/12/2024 10:04
