Half dose this Christmas week?

Lots of chat around missing a dose at Christmas, but I'm thinking of talking a half dose instead . What do people think ? I don't want to over indulge this week but I would like to enjoy my food a bit more , and a reasonable portion of Christmas dinner ...
Just wondering if doing a half dose or reduced dose would be preferable to skipping a dose .

If your not enjoying your food and small portions now maybe your on too high dose. ?

I will be carrying on as normal and just eat very sensibly, like 1 mince pie not 4 or 5. And a small dinner not oing in for seconds etc.

HansHolbein · 21/12/2024 14:52

I’m taking my 7.5 as normal. Don’t want to mess with the levels of the drug.

SilenceInside · 21/12/2024 14:53

I've just done my 7.5mg dose yesterday as normal, so that will be me for the Christmas period. I want to continue on with my new normal of eating a small portion and being satisfied with that. I'm actually looking forward to having a Christmas Day where I'm not internally cursing myself for having no self control.

Mounjaroscarednewbie · 21/12/2024 14:59

@morbidcuriosity Maybe I am on too high a dose, but it's only 5mg. I think actually, I will try reducing it by a third , rather than half dose.

Normal dose. Would you change the dose of any other medication because it's Christmas?

Mounjaroscarednewbie · 21/12/2024 15:06

@unsync Actually I would adjust a dose of medication, regardless of Christmas. I am very sensitive to medication and do tend to start with a lower dose than prescribed...Build up gradually.
My question is about whether or not it would be preferable to reduce a dose to skipping a dose .

I've just realised I done my 5mg jab yesterday so that's me till after Xmas I usually start to feel hungry Wednesday night

morbidcuriosity · 21/12/2024 15:11

How long have you been on 5mg? If your finding you can't eat then yeah maybe go back down to 2.5 for a while.
I have no experience in different strengths, I just did 5 at 2.5 then straight to 5 and did 2 pens, now on 7.5 . 7.5 is strong, but I can still enjoy food just much smaller amounts, which to be honest my portion size now is probably a normal person's dinner not the big lot I used to eat.. reason I was obese to start with.
I wouldn't just change it for Christmas though, change it for a few weeks till your body is happy with the strength then up again.

Mysticmaiden2024 · 21/12/2024 15:15

I've been on 5mg for 7 weeks and it was working fine until this week where suppression has gone after 4 days..I was going to go up tomorrow on dose day but might stick to 5mg so I won't be forcing food down and can eat a reasonable dinner! Follow your instincts and do what's right for you. Everyone has different suppression levels at different doses and week.

MounjaroUser1233 · 21/12/2024 15:26

Absolutely won't be missing a dose. I think I must have gained about ½ stone last Xmas period. Couldn't stop grazing, would easily have 5 or more mince pies in a day and God knows how many Quality Street. Plus a huge Xmas dinner then seconds (and thirds) on the actual day.
I have just gone up to 7.5 so got a headache today but it is worth it if it gets rid of the food noise.
I do worry about putting it all back on again really quickly if / when I stop using MJ. My 2nd pen was delayed and I noticed my sweet tooth came back really fast, within about half a week of missing my jab. I know I need to train myself to eat better but I have 30+ years of binge-eating to undo 😕

Doggymummar · 21/12/2024 15:30

Going up to 12.5 on Wednesday. I stopped last Christmas and gained ten lb, not doing that again.

You can't be 'very sensitive' to all medication.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/12/2024 15:53

I'm adjusting mine down to 2.5 from 5 because I'm not really liking being on 5. I want to see how it goes before ordering my next pen.

I took mine today as normal so it will be wearing off a bit by Wednesday (still titrating). I’m enjoying eating Christmas food in moderation so far. A small slice of cake is just as nice as a big one!

12purplepencils · 21/12/2024 17:58

I’m delaying my dose by one day, because occasionally I feel dodgy and have very stinky burps the day after injecting. Normal day is Tuesday evening so I’m going to do it Christmas Day evening instead

PickleSarnie · 21/12/2024 21:04

I've been so sick on 5mg that I halved my dose today just because a don't want to spend Christmas miserable. After Christmas, I hope I either feel less sick or can deal with it better but that's currently a January problem.
