fat girl GIF by jessthechen

Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

☆☆ SAINSBURYS ☆☆
BIT OF DEALS ON THERE PROTEIN ISLE
PROTEIN BAGELS £1
THE WHEY CLEAR PROTEIN TUBS DOWN TO £10 LOTS OF OTHER GREAT BARGAINS

Have you noticed the protein thin bagels (seeded ones) only have 4 in a packet, their plain thins have 6! I bought both. I tried the Sainsbury's high protein yogurt this morning and was pleasantly surprised. Generally though I'm going to avoid the 'protein' stuff.

Changingnameagain · 05/01/2025 18:09

@Zempy I've told my DH and that is it at the moment. I'm not sure who else I will tell at all tbh. If people comment and ask I'll just say I've started exercising more and tracking my food- which is also true. So it'll be more of a lie of omission as I'll just leave the MJ part out.
There is 1 friend who I would share it with if she asked as she's like me and always struggled with her weight and I wouldn't want to keep this from her in case she fancied giving it a go too.

Yeh noticed only 4 in pk the seeds must fill the weight of the 6 pk 🤣

I am doing the same as the last couple of posters.. I am just leaving out thr MJ and saying I have been calorie counting and increasing exercise. My partner knows as he is doing it alongside me, so all my chat about it will be to him.

Dunkou · 05/01/2025 18:16

@Zempy So far I've told 3 friends and my manager at work. I told my manager purely because he is taking it too, so is the reason I got onto it in the first place. One friend I was in 2 minds about telling as I thought I was going to get a lecture, but she didn't. I'll tell other friends as I see them probably. It doesn't bother me that people know.

The only people I definitely won't tell are my parents, I can't be doing with the concern.

Kay2000 · 05/01/2025 18:33

I did my first injection around midday today and am feeling very tired 6 hours later but nothing else so far. I’m in the high morbidly obese category so I really want this to work, having been too afraid to try it before now. I’m not telling many people yet, but if it works and I lose weight I’m sure I will (they won’t believe I’ve successfully lost weight by myself anyway 😂).

UnderandOverwhelmed · 05/01/2025 19:03

Is anyone else feeling a bit low? I think i use food as my go to for comfort and to look forward to and without the "nice" things im just feeling bit flat. Being January probably doesn't help!

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 05/01/2025 20:15

@UnderandOverwhelmed I know exactly what you mean. I was planning my “last supper” snack this evening (bowl of Shreddies) but was also debating doing the first injection, and didn’t want a stomach full of cereal with side effects. I opted for doing the jab but felt really sad about not lovingly emotionally eating this evening. Which is ridiculous because I am miserable being overweight.

Cazs818 · 05/01/2025 20:17

Still waiting for my pen to arrive 🤪

been tracking calories for the past 2 weeks and already 6.8lb down without mj but the food noise is horrific 🤞🏻 it arrives soon

Been watching with interest and have just done my very first jab. Weight is 88kg so got a fair bit to lose.

Not sure if I was over zealous but I've got a circle on my thigh and it feels a bit swollen. I think I pressed down too much in my nervousness - I'm assuming I should use less pressure next time.

GorgeousLadyofWrestling · 05/01/2025 20:33

I’ve told quite a few people but I have ADHD and often massively overshare.

I’ve told friends, in laws, DH, some co-workers who also do it and my mum.

First jab done!

MirrorMirror00 · 05/01/2025 20:37

Hi, can I join? Took my second MJ injection today. Week 1 went well, good appetite suppression til day 6 when the hunger returned. Going to weigh tomorrow morning.

lto2019 · 05/01/2025 20:39

I had my first dose - Sat morning - I've had no side effects so far. I haven't been hungry but often don't eat because I am hungry but because I am greedy and like snacks. I don't have any in at the moment as I'm feeling motivated - partly because it is expensive and need to give myself the best chance.
If you get side effects do you get them immediately? Can I assume I am not going to get any if I haven't had them in 24hours?

That made me laugh. I am also ND and a chronic over sharer, which is probably why I feel so bad about the concealment!!

I know what you mean! I realised that my Sundays are often about food - I make DH and I a nice breakfast then he usually works, then I make us something for tea (it's the only day of the week I cook, haha), and it felt odd and a bit flat not doing it today. Same with earlier settling down to read on the sofa - I would typically have got myself a snack as part of my cosy reading set-up (which is the problem, I suppose!!) and it felt like a ritual was gone. Then again, that's the whole point for me, the making everything about food, so... I should probably roll with it.

frogpigdonkey · 05/01/2025 20:59

Just dropping in- I started in December but wanted to add a comment here. I also comfort eat and overeat- don't eat terrible food but far too much of it and can't stop on the biscuits and snacks. My experience has been that on MJ I can eat a treat, but literally that- I can eat one or two biscuits but the thought of eating the packet is nauseating. So I've actually enjoyed the treats more because I've savoured them not shovelled them down to get to more. For me size of meals has been more important than what they are (although sadly salad has given me bad indigestion, but cooked veg is fine). So don't think it will take all your pleasure in food away- for me the freedom from food noise has meant I've enjoyed my food a lot over Xmas. Would recommend some Gaviscon or Rennes around though!

Changingnameagain · 05/01/2025 21:15

I think either the lack of hunger/food noise was initially a placebo effect or the suppression has already worn off... only day 3. I am so hungry this evening and also ate 1.5 large cookies leftover from my son's birthday yesterday- having refrained from having any yesterday. Due to eating cookies earlier I only had 133 cals left for the day so have just had 100g skyr with 20g bran flakes and a tea spoon of Flax (thanks to the poster that recommended that to me earlier - hoping it does the job!).
Despite this snack I'm still feeling hungry right now so going to go to bed early to stop me eating anymore.

TwinklyScroller · 05/01/2025 21:18

Hello! After months of scrolling through Mounjaro posts and threads, I've bitten the bullet and ordered my first pen. Petrified and excited in equal measure!!!! Can't wait for it to arrive to get started.

Already picked up a load of useful hints and tips here. Thank you!xx

Bellabluea · 05/01/2025 21:37

Im so excited to start. Haven’t been able to stop eating this weekend and I feel sluggish and awful.
I know all my work clothes will look awful on me tomorrow. Starting Wednesday because I have some time off work so I can get used to it at home without worrying about side effects.
I have IBS so very concerned about the big D. I’ve also decided on a goal weight that gets me into the ‘healthy’ BMI range but isn’t going to have me too small. At 45 I don’t want to look skinny, I’ve seen a few friends recently lose a lot and it’s really affected their faces.
listen to me like I’m choosing not to get too skinny 😂 as if!

I felt nauseous within a few hours and then last night/this morning (so 2 days later and 2 and a half days later, as I took it on Thursday night) I had a dodgy stomach, but that seems to have gone now. So I think it possibly might still be able to happen, but fingers crossed it doesn't and you've got plain sailing!

I'm also ND but have told only 2 friends that I'm planning to do this.

I've not even told DH, nor my BFF yet.

Once I've jabbed and seen the results I may end up blabbing then!!

So many people are anti tho that I want to be discrete and see if it benefits me....

One4TheRd · 05/01/2025 22:01

What a great thread! Took first jab Saturday afternoon and am a little sad that I still very much have an appetite! Slight headache is all I’m feeling. My biggest hurdle will be going back to work tomorrow as they feed us well…a big buffet every day. I was hoping to be able to avoid it with ease 😫I have been making myself drink lots of water today but have still felt hungry. It’s good to read that some of you are feeling it kick in at day 2/3 so fingers are crossed. Good luck to all

Are people taking their jab on a morning or evening? I've got my pen, keep putting off starting as I'm terrified of what the side effects will be. Need to get started tomorrow but can't decide whether to do it in the morning or on the evening? Also stomach or thigh?

Pandora71 · 05/01/2025 23:33

SW 160lbs / 12st 6lbs
CW 160lbs / 12st 6lbs
GW 130lbs / 9st 4lbs
W1: 1.25ml MJ

I’ve had an odd first day. Jabbed yesterday with only a half dose but it was first day of period today and was absolutely shattered and mild headache - I had two naps! So obviously a bit hard to tell what were MJ side effects.. No gastro issues

Food wise I wasn’t “feeling suppressed” and just tried to eat sensibly but at the end of the day I counted up my calories and much to my surprise only have hit 1,000 calories, which I don’t think would have happened without some MJ effect.

I had 1 Diet Coke and it tasted very different.

VelvetWildflower · 06/01/2025 01:16

Had a shit day today.

Started well. Ended ok with some chicken shawarma.

But then ate a 1600 calorie pistachio chocolate brownie stack.

Soooo
