Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

👋After spending a while obsessing researching, I ordered this morning from Oushk. Deliver date 10th January. Excited to get started, but nervous at the same time! I have spoken to a couple of my friends about it, who were surprisingly supportive! BMI is currently 37, so looking to lose 5/6 stone.

FatGirlDosing · 01/01/2025 18:01

Checking in from holiday. I did my second jab a day early (admittedly risky) as didn’t want to fly with the pen and all good. Continue to feel a reduction in appetite. The main difference is not mindlessly picking at things (nuts or crisps, DC leftovers). No idea if I lost any weight but feel slimmer! That said at the bit I always hate when losing and a few pounds down where the loss of fat means I’m less solid fat and more saggy fat!?

Well done OP and hope you are having a good holiday. I did mine yesterday morning and a notable drop in appetite which I can’t just attribute to psychological as the thought of certain foods are really off putting

Noddy21 · 01/01/2025 18:16

I took my first jab this morning, so far so good. No side effects, maybe a little more tired.

Kebabo · 01/01/2025 18:17

I'm with SheMed, waiting on blood test arrival. Desperately hoping it will come tomorrow.

🖐I had my first dose this morning and also haven't told anyone. Has anyone else had to find a hiding spot in the fridge? Does it have to be kept in the fridge? The pharmacist told me yes but was watching videos today and said it was OK not to as long as it was in a cool place under 30 degrees. Absolutely no danger of that here at the moment!

Edited

Haha 😂 I have - behind the jar of sauerkraut that no one eats has on the door of the fridge!!!

MJ is officially the best thing I have ever done.

4 years ago I was put onto medication that took me from 62kgs to 95kgs in 16 weeks. I have never, ever been able to silence the food noise since then. I have been so ashamed of my weight, and am in quite an affluent area where larger frames are rare (we are most definitely not affluent, and due to my size I stick out like a sore thumb!).

I have always been quite keen on exercise, but since having my youngest have found this incredibly hard as she has physical and mental disabilities, and I am her sole carer. At 7.5 years old I am still up with her 4-6 times a night, and I’m just exhausted. I have to be very physically strong as I still have to lift and carry her a lot, but she is now over 25kgs and I am finding this much harder as I am bigger. I know that I need to go to the gym to be able to keep up with her needs, but I am just so fat and unfit that I just can’t bare the shame and embarrassment.

i took my first injection on the 27th, and literally could not care less about food. I literally cannot believe it. I felt hungry about an hour ago, had one bite of a protein bar and then put it down and left it as I wasn’t that bothered. That is absolutely unheard of!!! Normally I am thinking about what I can be eating next while I am eating!!!

It is an actual miracle drug!

TheCatsBlanket · 01/01/2025 19:11

i took my first dose today at half past five, I don’t have a huge amount to lose, maybe 2 stone, but have struggled for decades with my weight fluctuating. I can’t wait to hopefully see the scales going down soon

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/01/2025 19:16

Exciting. It's January! I'm doing my blood test (she med) tomorrow and hoping to start Friday week if all is well!

TinglyandCurious · 01/01/2025 19:38

Just did first injection! Am feeling stressed but also excited 🙂

Shmallow · 01/01/2025 19:50

Honestly can't wait to see what happens for us all in the next six months!

Pickled red cabbage here...I'm the only one who will touch it😁

RosaBaby2 · 01/01/2025 20:34

Day 5 and it's still working well, I've not had any toileting issues at all. Eating lots of protein, bought some clear whey protein from Protein Works for the days where I might struggle. Just having one now to top me up!

Been having Chia seeds in my porridge each morning for extra fibre.

Went to the cinema and only drank water whilst everyone else had popcorn, then McDonald's and didn't get anything for myself. I can't explain how amazing this is.

Generally been under 1000 cals a day, yesterday I had a small bowl of homemade chocolate orange trifle and was worried about the fat but it didn't affect me at all.

Feeling really positive and just generally healthy and I am the most negative person going when it comes to myself.

Great to read everyone's thoughts, feelings and feel supported.

Whatsitreallylike · 01/01/2025 20:36

I’m seriously considering MJ once I’ve finished breastfeeding as I’ve piled on so much weight since having DC. Bit nervous though so watching this thread closely!

I’ve read that it’s monthly injections but lots of posts read as if they’re weekly, will need to do more research before I start but wishing you all the best on your journeys!

Bringonchristmas36 · 01/01/2025 20:38

Great to read the last few posts. Makes me reflect how much companies like WW/slimming world etc must hate the injections. Also gyms and PTs etc. I know these companies mean well but it’s almost like they live for failure

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 01/01/2025 20:39

You have a pen with 4 doses in it - so each week for 4 weeks!

I haven't started yet and ate well initiallg. . Today then binged crisps and dip this evening in a "I'll just finish it off" moment 😭.

I so hope they work.

Pandora71 · 01/01/2025 20:45

After some faff I’m confirmed with Numan and expecting delivery this Friday. I’ve been tapering down the food indulgence post-Christmas and getting prepped. Excited to get started.

Laura7010 · 01/01/2025 20:51

Hi all, my order was approved today and I’m hoping it will arrive by Saturday so I can take it before I’m
back in work on Monday. I have a friend now up to 10ml and has lost almost 3 stone so I’m hopeful it works for me also. I am a little scared and apprehensive though so I’m very glad of this thread

My pen is due to arrive tomorrow. If it arrives before lunch I’ll start using it right away. I can’t wait! I think the biggest challenge for me will be making sure I am getting enough protein and nutrients so that my energy levels don’t drop.

sociallydistained · 01/01/2025 21:11

My pen is expected tomorrow too. I'm going to do it before bed though I think.

Thelittlestranger · 01/01/2025 21:16

There are so many of us now - wow!

4 full days in and it's interesting the cycle of the last few days.

First day - mild suppression
Second day - huge suppression, didn't fancy anything
Third day - huge suppression
Fourth day (today) - suppression, get fuller quicker. But less overwhelming (?) than the previous days.

I made a conscious decision to eat more today as I felt quite weak when doing my exercises this morning.

Anyone else got a Garmin watch? My body battery hasn't risen above 40 since taking the injection which I am finding really interesting - it should go back up to 70/80 min. every night. Interested to know if anyone else is the same?

Edited to add - I haven't been feeling unwell

Just approved and am assuming that the pen won’t arrive until after Christmas so will start the new year with a, er, prick.

Anyway, thought I’d start a thread for anyone else planning on a slimmer 2025!

Brand new to Mumsnet and joined as I found this thread. My prescription for this has just been approved and i'm now waiting for it to arrive in the post. Really hoping someone can help me with a couple of queries.

  1. i'm not telling anybody about this, but do have to go out for work lunches regularly. Will i still be able to eat at these as normal or am I going to really struggle? I just don't want it to be obvious as everyone knows how much I like my food.

  2. i like to run regularly. I fully accept this may affect my running in energy levels but does anyone have any experience with exactly how much it's affected? Any tips for still managing a good run? I'm thinking energy gels for even short runs (where i would only usually use them for long runs).

TheCatsBlanket · 01/01/2025 23:11

Only 6 hours since I took my first injection, and I’ve noticed so far I’m weeing a lot more than I would normally do….anyone else found this after their first dose?

Chazzadc · 01/01/2025 23:17
