To start Mounjaro ?? Ordered some and it’s coming tomorrow.. which I had not expected!

Travelling this weekend - London to Scotland - to stay with family for the week over Xmas. Tempted to just start but worries about side effects while not in my own home, over Xmas etc??

Experiences?? How did the first week affect you??

I’d start it. Take a few months to build up and start working. I never had any side effects. You start on a super low dose

3wDavid · 18/12/2024 20:57

I am a firm believer of no better time than the present.

That being said though…you’ve waited this long, what’s another week. If it means you have a peace of mind that you won’t be poorly while away/over the holidays.
Yes, side effects are minimal and hopefully unlikely, but there is no guarantee, and my strongest ever suppression was on 2.5 mg. So I’d recommend enjoy your travels, enjoy your holidays and start once back to your own home and when you know you won’t indulge in rich fatty foods (those and MJ don’t mix well together, definitely not at first anyway)

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 18/12/2024 21:00

I think I’d leave it the week until you’re back in your own home and have control over food etc.

Pepperama · 18/12/2024 21:02

I’d leave it. Enjoy Christmas and family and then go for it properly when you’re back. A week isn’t going to make a difference.

Blabadder · 18/12/2024 21:33

Thanks for the advice! Just got over excited tho I quite nervous about the whole thing

I had no side effects but I would wait, in your position. Have a nice Christmas and then get on it in the new year.

Months? Mine worked pretty much straight away.

OP if you asked last week I would say just start but as you are so close I would enjoy the holidays then start.

Dietingfool · 18/12/2024 22:06

I’d start straight away if there is a risk you will gain even more weight over the holiday period.

PinkArt · 19/12/2024 00:04

If you were going to be at home I'd say start now. As you're away though, I'd wait.
You might not get symptoms but if you do they could be unpleasant at someone else's house. I was pooing explosive water for a good few days in the first week. It's calmed down now but the thought of having that while travelling or staying with family would have been awful.
What would probably help though is some mindful eating over Christmas though - it won't help to add to the amount to lose.

PanskyPink · 19/12/2024 02:30

I’d leave it until
after Xmas.

It’s less than a week away.

Why add unnecessary stress?

Caffeineneedednow · 19/12/2024 02:45

Up untill now I have not really had any side effects but this week I have and it has been completly self inflicted. I have had work dos ( with high fat food) and nights out ( alcohol really disagrees with me now) and too much coffe yesterday at a work away day has had me up all night. There has been chocolate in my office that is also disagreeing with me.

In short I was fine on it when I was eating a very healthy lean protein/ high veg diet but the rich Christmas food is kicking my ass ( lesson learnt). In you position I would give it a week then use it to help you with a post Christmas reset.

spuddy4 · 19/12/2024 06:14

I'd wait until after Christmas because no one can say for sure how it will affect you. Some people are lucky and get no side effects, for me the fatigue was terrible at first and it took a while to figure out what foods to avoid because they would upset my stomach. Purely because food tends to be fatty/rich around Christmas time I'd wait for that reason, a week is neither here or there.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2024 07:00

I would wait. I waited a week or so before I started in case I had side effects. I didn't but I couldn't have known that.

No, not really. I barely drink now and Christmas is no different and other than the Xmas day roast my diet doesn’t get worse. Doesn’t get better either but doesn’t get worse! So no, I don’t out on weight over Xmas usually…

then I guess that’s also reason to start right, as you’re not going to be overindulging in sugar, fat and booze.

Kaffiene · 19/12/2024 07:51

I would wait. I was so tired the first few weeks I could barely function so that made me really irritable and not much fun to be around.

Heather1991 · 22/12/2024 18:22

Hi I have ordered mine yesterday and waiting till after Christmas too. I'm excited but nervous. The side effects have me a little worried, I know everyone is different. Are you taking any vitamins/supplements along side it? Thanks and good luck!

lovealongbath · 22/12/2024 19:17

I would wait , I haven’t had any side effects, but I would prefer to be in my own loo if I did have any adverse side effects.

Redlightbulb · 22/12/2024 19:32

Unless you think that you will regret not going on it before Christmas / any weight gain over Christmas would really upset you. I would wait due to not being in your own home and potentially having bad side effects.

Cerialkiller · 22/12/2024 19:39

My only side effects were in the first three days. Horrendous painful wind, suppression so strong that I physically couldn't eat.

I would enjoy christmas and do the first Jab on the 27/28th.

Choirgirl699 · 22/12/2024 22:00

Mine arrived 3 days ago and I've decided to wait until Boxing Day evening as I'm concerned about side effects. Also been poorly so don't want the two combined. Good luck!

caringcarer · 22/12/2024 22:03

I'd wait. 1 week won't make much difference and once you get home start then. A few people get stomach upsets when they start. That would not be nice away from home.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 22/12/2024 22:05

I'd wait. I started just before a weekend away and I hadn't got used to how much I could eat on it. I completely overdid it on the Friday night and felt quite unwell overnight and for a good bit of the first day.

KitsyWitsy · 23/12/2024 22:03

Wait till you’re at home. Me and a lot of people can get the shits in the beginning.

Adelstrop · 24/12/2024 10:11

Everyone reacts differently, and you probably won't have any bad side effects, but I wouldn't start taking new medication out of my home environment. I'd wait a week.
