Mounjaro where to buy?

Hi all,

After a lot of consideration I have decided I really want to give this a go. I'm the heaviest I have ever been, heavier even than in my pregnancies. So unhappy with myself.

The only real thing I'm struggling with is knowing where's best to order from? Where are those already using it, buying it?

Thank you

I’ve found MedExpress really good. Can send you a referral code if you’d like?

please be really careful and get a GP consult beforehand. Quite a few peolple in the UK have had adverse side effects and its not clear what the trigger for pancreatitis or gastroparesis is.

Please do not waste your own, or your GP’s time unless you have a specific worry about your medical history. Providers will ask the same questions and a pharmacist approves - it will be absolutely no different.

Yes, a few people have had side effects. Have you seen the side effects of Nurofen? Far more risky and dangerous than Mounjaro.

Plus GPs don’t have a crystal ball to see if a patient would be one of the extremely unlucky ones to have a reaction.

Mounjaro is a very well tolerated drug - hence allowed to be prescribed by pharmacists.

Does anyone know when the new rules come in, as in you have to have proof of your weight and they have to notify your GP etc? (As per news story a few days ago).

This is how it's been from the start. Maybe they plan to add more rules to what is already in place. Not seen any dates as yet.

Pegsmum · 08/02/2025 10:06

I’ve used Cloud Pharmacy from the beginning and found them to be excellent. I have stopped checking prices because I’m not intending to move from them but they were competitive when I started.

@Pegsmum i have also been with cloud since the beginning - early last year. I ordered on Wednesday after a few weeks break for a surgery and the order is still marked as processing today Saturday. It is usually approved and despatched within one to two days. Are you aware of any delays at the minute?

wannabewitch · 08/02/2025 10:43

just out of interest which ones do not require your GP details currently

Not on the site I use - you just tell them your weight (no proof required) and click on the box to say you don't want them to notify your GP. But there was a news story about 3 days ago saying this is going to become illegal. I ordered another pen yesterday and it hasn't changed yet. I'm just hoping I've got 3-4 months before it does as I think I'll be at target weight by then.

Does your pharmacy not do maintenance plans? If it doesn't I would switch now to one that does, the prescribing for existing customers who have lost weight to the healthy zone is not the same as a new customer who is already a healthy weight.

Err, not sure - I haven't yet got to the point where I'm thinking about a maintenance plan. I was just a bit alarmed by this story that said the rules were changing across the board. Will check it out.

bernadetteo · 08/02/2025 12:11

I'm about 7 stone away from maintenance but I switched to a pharmacy who offer it and plan to stay with them for the rest of my time. I don't think k chopping and changing all the time is helpful for the longer term.

SilenceInside · 08/02/2025 12:27

@Elsvieta it's not going to become illegal, the pharmacies will be failed on their next inspection and the pharmacists possibly sanctioned if they aren't able to show that they have "independently" checked patient's weight and height. So, not just taken the patient's word for it. Requiring dated photos is probably sufficient to count as independent checking, as long as they can show they have ways of weeding out faked photos.

Verlaine · 08/02/2025 12:37

@bernadetteo why on earth not?! It’s saved me about £600 so far by doing so.

As part of the discussion the poster i was replying to said they don't know if their pharmacy does maintenance yet they are just 3/4 months off needing it. That's the context to my comment.

If you have changed pharmacies a lot and not thought about maintenance until near the end, then managed to find a plan that works for you, what not share it as it would be helpful to that poster, rather than just highlighting one part of my comment to say you have saved money

Nobody is saying you can't save money, but my comment was specifically about thinking longer term. I don't think it's helpful to move about a lot then end up struggling to find someone to take you in at a healthy weight for maintenance.

Who's that pharmacy? Are they registered?

I've used 4 and always had to send photo's and telling the GP hasn't been a choice.

I'm a bit reluctant to say now in case they get shut down or something. But it didn't take me a lot of googling to find them as I recall - it was maybe the tenth site I looked at.

I don't know. Registered with who? How do you tell?

Snozzlemaid · 08/02/2025 14:43

They should show their GPHC registration number on their website.
You can then check them out on https://www.pharmacyregulation.org

Oh, thanks, interesting. So this is a physical inspection? Of the premises of an entirely online pharmacy? Or an online thing? There are so many hundreds of sites now selling weight-loss jabs it sounds like a tricky thing to do. Who is it doing the inspecting? Can they inspect companies that are based overseas? How often do the inspections happen? I'm just hoping I can go on as I am for a few more months - is that likely?

SilenceInside · 08/02/2025 15:09

@Elsvieta it's the GPhC, the General Pharmaceutical Council. They inspect, physically, all registered pharmacies. Online pharmacies will have a physical "closed" pharmacy to fulfil their orders, which gets inspected just like a pharmacy on the high street. You can read the inspection reports on their website.

The GPhC only inspect UK pharmacies. Overseas pharmacies that are selling to customers in the UK are not registered and I wouldn't buy from them. There are probably issues around importing prescription controlled medication, and having prescription only medication in the UK without a UK prescription.

Online pharmacies are often serviced by the same behind the scenes pharmacy. For example, Asda use Zava to fulfill their orders, so it's the same physical pharmacy for both.

Verlaine · 08/02/2025 15:19

@bernadetteo I guess I don’t understand why you’d have trouble finding a supplier for maintenance? Many of them now do programmes. It’s hardly like they won’t want your money because you’ve been ‘sleeping with’ their competitors is it!

But if they won't prescribe you someone as a healthy weight you won't get 'taken on'

Just something to think about for the future

85reasons · 08/02/2025 15:32

I didn't think I'd bother changing pharmacies but have actually used four now, and since I started at BMI 31 all the switches have been with my BMI between 25-30. It's not difficult to do and using a new pharmacy doesn't mean you are "switched off" from the old pharmacy - for example Oushk was the second pharmacy I used, I then bought a few pens from IQ Doctor as each one was at least £20-30 cheaper, and have now reverted back to Oushk with no questions asked.

None of it has been difficult if you do a bit of research.

Which one?

bernadetteo · 08/02/2025 16:30

I'm with oushk now. There was nothing forthcoming about maintenance and other med express and I needed to know the longer term situation

Verlaine · 08/02/2025 17:11

@bernadetteo there’s absolutely no issue swapping with a lower BMI as long as you can show previous prescriptions.

Sticking with one supplier willl cost hundreds of pounds more - even thousands over a year

Notsuchafattynow · 08/02/2025 17:19

Oushk are pretty competitive with their pricing.

I'm with them for maintenance.
