I’m on 5mg, just did the wk2 jab yesterday. Suppression is less than week1 on 2.5mg but working well in helping me make better choices. I ate too much last night, healthy meal but a big portion, and felt sick for the first time. Lesson learned.

I’ve not had any issues with alcohol. I don’t drink much unless out out, but Saturday I had a couple of gins and a couple of cocktails followed by sambuca shots. All good after. Not tried wine yet so hopefully Christmas Day champagne will be fine.

Sounds like I’m now unexpectedly cooking but at my mum’s house - she has broken her foot and at the checkup today they realised it’s worse than they thought and she needs emergency surgery in the morning. She’ll be home that evening but not able to stand at all and groggy from general anaesthetic.

Oh no! Hope your mum is ok 💐

W9 D4
SW: 108.9kg (113.35kg 4 weeks before starting MJ)
CW: 96.75kg
Loss to date: on MJ 12.15kg (total 16.6kg)
GW: 73kg

Hi all,
Just checking in pre-Xmas. I took the bonus dose from my 5mg pen this week - took 6.25mg worth as I wanted the extra for over Xmas and I haven’t decided whether to go up to 7.5mg or stay on 5mg (I have both pens in fridge).

This week was the lowest loss I’ve had since starting MJ. Not sure why as calories haven’t been any higher and water intake is consistent (minimum 2.5ltrs a day).

I’m not eating enough, I don’t think. It’s not all down to surprission though, if I’m honest I’m worried that if I eat more I’ll stop losing completely. When I’ve lost weight in the past it was really slow unless I dropped to about 1200 cals a day. I don’t want it to slow though, but I know I can’t sustain too low calories for too long or it’ll bugger up my metabolism completely!

What targets are people setting for calories in? Are you subtracting 500 from your TDEE Maintenance cals and eating up to that figure or less?

Firstly, congrats on the loss!

I think calorie consumption targets will vary from person to person. Plus, macros are important. Are you eating enough protein to sustain muscle mass and energy levels do you think? The key I think to keeping the weight off post MJ will be to eat ‘good’ calories not just to calorie count.

One of the fascinating things reported about MJ is I think it makes the individual want to eat like a post-war adult - an inclination to eat lots of veg, lean proteins and a reduction in sugar/empty carb consumption and it’s certainly been that for me. Yesterday I deliberately upped my exercise output as I knew DD wanted a roast chicken dinner as she was working all day and I’d bought some Cadbury’s heroes to share during a film. I’d burnt 500 calories on an incline treadmill walk, done 30mins of Pilates and walked the dog for 30 mins on top of that. Combined with a glass of wine I reckon I consumed a fair few calories at dinner but lunch was a boiled egg and 2 dates..Not to sound pious but to say if I want to eat anything like the old 14st me I know I need to up my movement levels to compensate for consumption of ‘treat’ food choices.

Just ordered the 7.5mg to start on the 4th. I would have liked to stay at 5mg but I don't feel like the impact is enough. It's stopping me from eating massive portions but not from snacking on unhealthy stuff like chocolate that isn't very filling.

Unfortunately I'm short at 5'3 and eating cake, chocolate etc even in not huge quantities does tend to make me put on weight. Not sure what that means for me long term but for now I'm hoping the increased dose will sort it, and after new year there will be less sweet stuff around.

I think I've only lost about 3lb in the last month which is certainly better than nothing but not ideal.

SW 13st 3lb
CW 12st 8lb
GW 10st 6lb

Well 3lb off is still a huge calorie consumption deficit so be kind to yourself. Do you use a calorie tracker? At this time of the year it is easy to forget the odd mince pie or hand in the roses tin…!

I’m grumpy because I really struggled to drink two glasses of cava this evening. There’s actual real champagne in the fridge and I want to enjoy it on Christmas Day, damn it! I also had my first mince pie after dinner and struggled to finish that too. Maybe if I’m struggling to eat/drink something I should just stop? Leave it? That sounds so wrong!

I’ve tended to push on through (silly really) but feel the same. I’ve found I’ve actually only enjoyed one or two glasses of fizz/wine but no craving to refill - I only have drunk more if my glass was refilled by someone else..

I’m jealous - I’m getting very minimal suppression this week compared to early weeks. I’m due to go to 7.5 on Boxing Day so I hope that helps!

Let us know how you get on! I’m staying on 5mg for another month.

Happy Christmas Eve.
I'm going to jab a bonus dose tomorrow night. I'll be able to cook and eat tomorrow and then be back in the game on boxing day. I'm sticking at 5. After not much loss the last 2 weeks my total loss is now nearly a stone. i'm very happy with that. I'd tried Cambridge diet a couple of years ago and didn't lose anywhere near that in 2 months and was miserable all the time.
thinking about the next pen, i think I'll stay with 5. I need to order 2 pens together. I'm travelling abroad for 2 months so need to stock up next week. i want to still make good choices but still be able to eat and drink moderately. Moderation isn't normally my default mode.

Couldn’t agree more! I put weight on because I didn’t have the right balance, had a few take aways a week ate carbs every day, and thought because I’d done little bits of exercise that “I deserved it”
you can’t out train a bad diet and I need to keep this at the fore front of my mind!

Oh I am definitely not craving carbs the way I used to! Still eating some rice (my favourite!) busy pasta and bread are off the menu!

I started trying to lose weight again back at the beginning of October and I know from experience the only way I can do it is by tracking. I saw an add for ParrotPal and liked the idea of voice logging so I downloaded it for a trial. The creator does daily podcasts for the first seven days (and has a library of more) where he talks about progress over perfection and how for fat loss the main macro we need to watch is protein, and to hit a step target. So I’ve been mainly focusing on hitting a protein goal, and my step count.

Last night we had chicken in à tomato sauce and broccoli! Not a potato or piece of pasta in sight!

I’m trying very hard to make sure I have at least 800 cals a day (if it’s the target cals for Fast 800 and the like it must be the lower limit for a reason yes?).

I’m nervous but my losses are crazily tiny and suppression minimal so I’m going in!

Caplin · 24/12/2024 09:47

End if Wk 6 and final weigh in for the year and despite a weekend in London with friends I still dropped 3lbs…..probably the 20k+ steps a day! I did feel a bit annoyed as my 5mg suppression is so high and meals just weren’t very enjoyable. A few mouthfuls and I felt a bit grim. I was fine picking my way round Borough Market trying everyone’s food.

SW 18st 12.5lbs
CW 17st 4lbs
GW 12st 7lbs

I jab Christmas Day, so will leave it till bedtime as the suppression is easing slightly at the end of the week, managed almost a whole dinner last night, so hoping to be able to enjoy today and tomorrow.

Then we are away on holiday for a week. I doubt very much I will lose anything, but I said that about London!!!!

Have a lovely Christmas everyone!!!

I went up to 3.75 on Thursday and I'm regretting not going to 5mg, although the heartburn on Friday almost killed me. Food noise is back with a bang and I've ate more calories / snacked more in the past 2 days than I have in the past month. It's hard judging what to do for the best. Think I'll do 5mg on Thursday.

We can brave the 5 mg together on Thursday!

lostinchaos · 24/12/2024 10:05

Hi everyone, I've had a week off the jabs due to my allergic reaction. I have managed to stay stable with my weight as I have maintained similar eating habits... albeit with more calories due to some family Xmas get togethers. the lack of interest in alcohol and food has maintained a base level still I think. But I'm going to try the medication again tomorrow evening I think and finally take my 4th 2.5mg jab. I feel I am now a bit behind schedule though ☹️. I am assuming I will gain a few pounds over the next couple of days, but hopefully they will come off once I am back on the mj. I am a bit worried that I will have another allergic flare up too... but it's difficult to pinpoint if it really did cause my eyes to swell as I've come down with a cold at the same time and the doctor thinks it would most likely have caused a problem when I jabbed and not at the end of a weekly cycle. So fingers crossed I will be ok! Anyway just wanted to wish you all a very merry christmas!🎄

MsRumpole · 24/12/2024 10:52

I need to think about my emotional eating in 2025. The jabs give me this weird experience where I am able to tell the difference between wanting to eat because I am hungry and wanting to eat because I am anxious. All last week I was struggling to get work finished and found it really hard to stop picking on 2.5, but now that I am done with work until January I am back to really not being very hungry. I had a mocha from Hotel Chocolat this morning, that's all I have eaten and I honestly wondered if it was going to kill me, it was so rich. Like everything else delicious, I just want a taste and then I am done.

phyllidafosset · 24/12/2024 12:24

@MsRumpole I totally get that stress eat thing. Sometimes it goes the other way for me and I am so busy I don’t eat - but when I do that, come 4pm or so I am craving sugar and typically eat a mountain of crap. I think reflecting on what I do and don’t need/want to be eating, despite the sugar cravings, is a good 2025 goal. Here is to permanent change towards healthier choices for us all 🤞🤞💪

phyllidafosset · 24/12/2024 12:29

Just popped in to say mid-week weigh and down to 11lbs 6.8 - which I am taking to be a stone lost! Late period also arrived and I think that has helped. Considering staying on 2.5 now because although suppression is much less, I am still losing slowly. I wouldn’t mind a bit faster, but I am worried about side effects. My heartburn remains terrible, but that is a more manageable side effect (and was an issue before 🤦‍♀️). Have a lovely Christmas Eve and Christmas Day/Hanukkah/break everyone!

JasonTindallsTan · 24/12/2024 12:45

Checking in as I come to the end of week six I think (third 5mg jab due on Boxing Day).

Im just over 12 pounds down since starting. I kind of hoped when I first started to be a stone down by Christmas but having gone through the process, an average of 2lb per week is good and if I can keep that up I’ll be happy.

I can feel my suppression waning so I expect I’ll be able to enjoy my Christmas dinner but after Boxing Day I’ll be ready to go again.

I have never ever understood that feeling that naturally slim people talk about when they say they ‘forgot to eat’ but the last couple of weeks that’s been me. Amazing.

PinkArt · 24/12/2024 13:03

Heading down to my exhaustingly brilliant nieces now for Christmas fun, so just wanted to say a very Happy Christmas to you all. Thank you all for your support here over the last couple of months.

AllstarFacilier · 24/12/2024 14:49

I’ve just ordered my second 5mg one. I’ve been using 3.75mg recently and so I’m happy to just stick with that for now. I’m not experiencing full suppression, and I still want to eat at regular mealtimes, but I very rarely feel hungry. I’ve still been picking at the Christmas treats though and I’m allowing myself to enjoy Xmas.

random223 · 24/12/2024 15:02

I weighed on Sunday at end of week 7 and stayed the same. Bit disappointed as my calories were still low but interesting as had some crisps and chocs instead of proper healthy meals so definitely a lesson for me there!

Have a buffet tonight which I am dreading as they are normally my worst (start with good intentions but end up eating more than I planned). Hopefully the MJ will help.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

AlwaysTimeForWine · 24/12/2024 15:39

Doing a little happy dance today. There's just something about meeting those little milestones in time for Christmas that makes you smile.

Weighed this morning and in 5.5 weeks (on 2.5mg) have lost 1 stone on MJ, which is 1.5 stone in total since the middle of September when I lost a bit of weight on my own first.

I had hoped I would get to that by Xmas so it feels good. I've managed to keep the weight ticking down despite a Xmas party, Xmas work lunch, dinner party and family birthday lunch.

My proper weigh in is on Saturday morning but I thought I'd check before Xmas day 😂

Plan to eat as normal tomorrow, just smaller portions and less booze. I've definitely found it easier to eat more in the last few weeks, as I find that by day 4 I am wanting to graze so I am increasing my dose to 3.75mg on Saturday - wish me luck.

My side effects are minimal now I've got used to MJ; I burp a lot and feel full quickly when I eat, and it takes me a while before I'm hungry again. Hopefully they won't get much worse than that.

Hope everyone has a lovely festive few days!

Very similar to me. 3.75 is the max I can tolerate . Full suppression on 5mg made me feel horrendous . I jab on a Saturday so tomorrow is my mid week. Should keep me on track although to be fair I don’t eat a lot on Xmas day it’s usually all the pre Xmas events where I take it too far!

my period is due on Boxing Day so I’m holding off weighing until that’s been and gone. I was 4 days late last month thanks to MJ so who knows when it will appear

DarkForces · 24/12/2024 19:23

I got nicely dressed up and went out for lunch today. Was super careful what I ate then started sneezing. By the end of the meal I felt a right mess... red nose, watery eyes and sneezing away. I'm home and in bed feeling crap. I'm gutted. Put so much work into my health and feeling rubbish and missing out on time with dh and dd 😢

Della82 · 24/12/2024 21:27

i weighed in early this week as away at in laws with no scales

W6 d6 1kg lost since last Thursday

SW 90
CW 80.8

really pleased with my progress but have had my first (4) drinks since i started! Hopefully I won’t feel horrendous tomorrow 🙈

hoping to maintain over the next week!

Arglefraster · 24/12/2024 22:23

Oh I'm so sorry @DarkForces that sounds rubbish. I hope it passes quickly & you enjoy Christmas with your family 💐

TeenLifeMum · 24/12/2024 22:27

I’ve had more chocolate tonight than I have in the last 2 months put together. Suppression isn’t feeling very strong but I think Christmas is pushing through. I’ll soon be back on track but need to try not to lose my way entirely. Merry Christmas everyone!
