I have been thinking about the obesogenic environment this week. Popped into the supermarket to buy a small piece of fish for my tea and couldn't fine one! Shelves and shelves filled with pringles, chocolates and booze. Was lucky to escape without buying anything (would have been impossible for the non-MJ me!).

JasonTindallsTan · 20/12/2024 21:39

I have had really high suppression today, had to go out with a friend for lunch and picked at it, left more than half a plate of chips which is tbh unheard of for me. I made a pasta dish for tea, a dish that I usually go back to seconds for. Took a small portion and put the rest in the fridge for lunch tomorrow.

Arglefraster · 20/12/2024 21:00

Hi @BagQueenBee the standard injection volume is 0.6ml so you can calculate dose as volume you got/0.6 x dose of pen

so 0.7/0.6 x 2.5 =2.917 mg

Thank you so much.

Coffeeandcinnamonbun · 20/12/2024 23:13

i have missed the boat for the bonus dose. I’m a wimp and didn’t get round to ordering syringes and tomorrow morning is my injection day. I will try just using the pen but it doesn’t sound like I’ll be lucky. Any top tips?

I’ve been really happy on 2.5 and I’m worried about 5 so I’m either going to do 30 clicks for 2.5 or 45 clicks for 3.75. Are those numbers correct?

I am not sure what the scales will show tomorrow morning. I’ve stuck to 1200 or less but quite a few of the calories have been crisps and wine plus a McDonald’s. I’m hoping it’s okay because I’ve not been too bothered about eating generally but I know I’ll have to make healthier choices soon!

I was out for lunch today but my toddler accidentally helped me out. She insisted she wanted a giant pastry for her lunch so I picked that up and then ordered the kids meal the menu listed as the fewest calories and then we ‘swapped’ and everyone thought it was funny and cute that I was eating the kids meal 😂

A colleague asked me if I’ve lost weight and then asked how. I said I was eating carefully and she sadly told me menopause was making it difficult for her. So I told her the truth. I don’t want to tell people generally but I can’t let another woman think I’m doing it without medication!

So right. Thanks to MJ I am not tempted to buy. This time last year I would be constantly restocking mince pies, stollen etc

ShaunaSadeki · 21/12/2024 07:31

Checking in from my holiday, today should have been jab day, not felt that much suppression this week but managed to make good choices or not over eat if choices not so good.

Booze is flowing and likely to get more plentiful as Christmas approaches.

Not managed any proper exercise as too hot by about 8am for jogging, but doing loads of walking and swimming. Will keep checking in as I know lots of us are scared about life post MJ and this seems like a decent test, although I have been thin numerous times before and packed it all back on.

on a funny note I have a suspicion that the relatives I am staying with who I didn’t want to know I am on MJ might be on Ozempic 😂😂😂😂, meaning going without for the next 2 weeks will have been totally pointless, am gathering evidence.

Weigh in this morning and another loss of nearly 4lb. That's taken me to a 10kg loss since I started at the beginning of November. Most importantly, I've broken through the 100kg barrier (just)

I'm ashamed to say that out loud. In not sure how I'll manage long term but I don't want to go back there.

Day 4 of hosting visitors. It's been difficult. i never thought that i would not want to go out to lunch or for drinks. Eating out has been harder that cooking at home. At home I have the excuse that "I've cooked so don't fancy eating much yet" For drinking at home I've been having sparkling water with a slice of lemon and ice so that it looks like a gin and tonic. Last day of hosting today, then a couple of days off before doing it all again on Tuesday.

MsRumpole · 21/12/2024 08:38

I've stayed on 2.5mg and am finding that whilst the immediate food suppression/aversion is reduced, I am still getting full much earlier and then getting hungry much later after food than usual. So I am trying to use this as an opportunity to pace myself around food.

In todays Times

Julian Beach, MHRA’s interim executive director of healthcare quality and access, said: “The MHRA takes concerns about the illegal promotion of prescription medicines to the public very seriously. We consider complaints we receive about the alleged advertising of prescription-only medicines to the public, looking at each case on its own merits and, where appropriate, working with other regulators.”

He added that the regulator would “take appropriate action” where necessary, in order to “protect public health”.

A spokesperson from HeliosX, the parent company behind MedExpress, said that they sought to comply with UK legislation and regulations for prescription-only medicines.
They added: “Since MedExpress was founded ten years ago, we have provided customers who recommend us to their friends and family with a discount code that can be used across the entire service. Our terms and conditions are clear that these codes cannot be shared publicly and on social media networks or forums. In instances where this is not upheld we will take appropriate measures including cancelling credit.”

apparently some 500,000 of us pay for private prescriptions!

SW: 14 stone ish
CW: 12.7-13 stone (thanks shitty scales). The least I can be is falling but the top is staying stubbornly the same as it depends where I put my weight on stupid scales (on hard floor not carpet. They really are stupid). Smart scales have been requested from Santa!
GW: 8-8.7 stone (I'm 5'3 and it seems so far away I'm not even able to settle on a figure yet).

Committed to a second month on 5. It's arriving this morning. Ordered early to avoid Xmas delays. Reckon there's going to be a rush on 1 Jan!

Pumpkinforever · 21/12/2024 08:52

Friend asked last night if I was ozempic as my face looked thin. I said no which is true as I am on MJ and not ozempic 😂 I said I was dieting and exercising which she knows. I pointed out that my boobies and tummy were shrinking and then I ate the meal to prove a point (hide the truth). I feel uncomfortably bloated this morning as a result

Pumpkinforever · 21/12/2024 08:57

Definitely will be a rush in January @DarkForces The number of WLI articles are increasing in media

Your Santa scales will give you a pleasant surprise

@Dreamqueen sparkling water and lemon is a good shout

@namechangedyetagain great loss

@KeepCalmandGiveItaGo winter coat is getting looser 😂

@Pumpkinforever trying to eat a meal to prove a point is such hard work. I've never before pushed food around my plate. Now I'm beging to understand how slim people eat. They don't scoff everything on the plate like I normally do.

DarkForces · 21/12/2024 09:02

Thanks @Pumpkinforever. I think it was @Mounjaropen who described the joy of shopping from your own wardrobe. It's lovely rediscovering old clothes that had got tight now fit.

i know it's expensive but Mounjaro could save so many lives. I don't have any conditions linked to my obesity yet and I'm so grateful for the opportunity it's given me to live a healthier life. I know I'll probably needlong term medication to keep it off but I'm hopeful we'll know more and have more options in a couple of years for maintenance.

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 09:06

@DarkForces that's the same as me 2nd of my 1st month of 5mg yesterday ordered early just incase it came late had no issues with Asda pharmacy getting it but stuck to another month of 5mg don't know why as I feel I'm a bit more hungry on this than my 2.5

DarkForces · 21/12/2024 09:10

@murraymcgill im finding 5 a bit odd better suppression sometimes and not others. I'm getting some side effects though (nothing major but making me reluctant to move up). It's a weird time of year to be navigating it all. Glad to see what others are doing on this thread.

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 09:10

It's starting to be like buying on the streets I know a few people selling MJ no chance i would buy from them and I doubt they care who there selling to either

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 09:13

I have bouts of diarrhea here and there nothing too major that it stops me going out but its something I never get I was constantly constipated before MJ

Pumpkinforever · 21/12/2024 09:14

I have kept some size 18 and 16 clothes over the years as I crept up to size 20/22. Its great being able to fit size 18 on again - rediscovering my wardrobe @DarkForces @Mounjaropen

Not going to force a meal again @Dreamqueen You are right it was tough work

Plus there maybe no quality guarantee. There must be fakes on the market and that is what concerns me about more ‘lax’ sellers

murraymcgill · 21/12/2024 09:20

@Pumpkinforever definitely fakes there too cheap for 1 thing

I read the Times articles and they really irritated me - bringing up the death of that Scottish nurse without saying anything about underlying health conditions, and conflating online pharmacies with people selling MJ on Facebook.

It is clear that the NHS won’t be able to afford to prescribe MJ at scale, because the demand will be so high, but I think they’ll be forced to go further than their current plans. It was interesting reading the sections about bariatric patients who couldn’t walk being prescribed this medication, though. One was bedbound but after 6 months on MJ she was able to walk up a flight of stairs. It’s so much better than gastric bypass surgery - and much cheaper.

qotsa · 21/12/2024 09:29

@Pumpkinforever @murraymcgill it was a fake one on the TV news article that a woman who nearly died was sold. Was on tv a few weeks ago. It was insulin she was sold. It was only because her friend was there when she injected it and collapsed that she didn't do in to a coma and die. No way would I ever get one from an un reputable source. I find it scary enough as it is. Overthinking any symptoms and stuff 🤦🏻‍♀️
